What surprised me was there was no Samsung logo in the video or none said Samsung when they protested but yet everyone came to conclusion that it was Samsung.

A video
yesterday with what people were calling a Samsung anti-Apple flashmob campaign that was staged outside of a large Apple store in Australia. I?m sure you saw the news and if not you?ll want to see video below. In a turn of events Samsung has came out this afternoon and directly denied any involvement in the situation ? Samsung Australia at least.

apple_store_wake-up-580x315-540x293.jpg

After our sister site SlashGear reached out to Samsung they received a quick and short answer from them that was direct and right to the point. Here?s what they had to say:

?Samsung Electronics Australia has nothing to do with the ?Wake-Up Campaign?

This situation instantly had people taking to Twitter saying nothing but negative things about Samsung. Calling them ?childish? and ?out of line?. The previous videos calling iPhone buyers iSheep while promoting the Galaxy S III were one thing, but this was taking it too far. Or was it? When the flashmob of dozens of black-clad men and women holding ?Wake Up? signs begin chanting outside of the Apple store I instantly was extremely surprised anyone from Samsung would sign off on this, and apparently they didn?t.

For now, it?s unclear who planned or arranged the anti-Apple flashmob, or if we?ll ever find out. The man behind the video, Blunty3000 was in the right place at the right time, or maybe he knows more than he?s telling. What do you guys, the readers think of the video below? Was this just one of many attacks as of late and not a big deal? Or was this taking things too far?

I'm just curious, who actually came out with this being Samsung?

No, pretty much all adults did.

The original news report said thatnit was arranged by an ad bureau hired by Samsung. Since they knew it was an actual ad bureau it seems likely they told them it was Samsung who hired them as well, possibly just not Samsung Australia.

I read it from here, linked from an Android site saying it was Samsung. Along with Galaxy release countdown site link.

Samsung wasn't too amused to see their brand ending up attached to this thing.

From what I understand their brand wasn't attached to anything other then the website, which could easially be created by joe blow. Easially deniable if campaign response goes south ( escape route )

Oh agreed there wasn't a logo in the video, heck it could have just been a local Android group. I was going by the android site, I thought they got ahold of somebody and said they were hired by Samsung to do it. Coupled with the Samsung commercials airing on TV with a flock of sheep, I belived it

*edit - thinking more about it, it could have been Apple that hired to do it, looking to put Samsung in bad press, I wouldn't put it past apple

    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
