To those questioning the 36k claim, as I did myself when I originally ready it, I would imagine they are also including the cost of software licenses for each computer.

The full-bladder assault resulted in over $36,000 worth of damage for Upper Allen Township Elementary School, the laptops' owner. The boy is a student at the school. It's believed he urinated on the computers after finding them unattended at the school.

School officials labeled the damage as a total loss beyond repair. And apparently they have good reason not to expect AppleCare to come to the rescue.

That's because Apple categorizes urine damage to be a biohazard.

Apparently the Cupertino company is so freaked out by pee that it won't even take your money to repair affected computers. Human or dog, urine is a big no-no to Apple. And for now, there's no word yet on whether the company will be making an exception to its "no pee" rule.

I can't get Dell or HP to fix a busted computer because somebody spilled water on it, why should apple replace pee when nobody will do water ( accidental damage protection will cover it though ).

With the price Gov institutions pay for things, my guess would be 3, I know years ago they payed 10K for a hammer, I'm shure they would pay 12 for a laptop, lol

Because they don't pay anywhere near full price. Apple gives away their computers to schools dirt cheap in the hopes that you get use to using it so when you have the ability to choose what to use, you'll choose a Mac.
