When I just dropped $60 on a game expecting it to work I absolutely will NOT take it on the chin. I spent my hard earned money for entertainment and I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit idly by and get screwed because Blizzard screwed up. Imagine you spent hours waiting in line to buy tickets to a movie, finally get to the ticket window, buy your tickets, get to the usher and are told "Sorry we are over capacity, come back tomorrow" and this keeps happening day after day. And even if you want to get a refund, they have a no refund policy so that's out of the question. Tell me you wouldn't be ****ed!

You got screwed when you decided to buy it on day one and expect no issues. I get that it's supposed to work and all that, and we as consumers should push these companies hard to deliver a working product, but... it's kind of hard to feel sorry for anyone who goes out and throws their money at a company on release day. Seriously, if you care that much about your cash, you'd have a little patience and discipline and wait to see how it all pans out instead of rushing to spend your money.

But that's just me though. I'm not the one out $60. Maybe when there's a sale and if I like the starter edition, I'll buy it, but not in it's current state.

Also, Torchlight 2 is looking more appealing to be honest, especially with the 4-pack for the same price as Diablo 3. Now it's a decision to buy for myself, or buy for myself and friends and enjoy the evening. At least that's one way to make the most of my cash.

The game is perfect!

It's far away from being perfect....

I really was waiting for Diablo 3 but am very disapointed from what I hear.

Firstly, you hike up the price and you ofer only 7 hour of game play... hmmm ... I am predicting a lot of $15-$20 DLC packages coming soon... They are getting griddy and offering a sub-par gaming experience with a three+ year old tech.

Second, DRM and Internet Connection recuirement for Single Player mode.... They are making the whole experience so much more complicated that people will rather turn to pirating the game than paying to play it as it is...

Third, 7 hours... really... 10 years later and 7 hours of game play is all you can provide for $60?

Oh well... Maybe I'll get it when it hits the bargain bin...

Actually, it's my understanding that much of the game is hosted server side, so even if you were to pirate the game and get it running, you'd just be left with a bunch of empty maps. At least, that's what I hear anyway. I believe they'd need server emulation software to get the rest of the game playable, or some crazy fix that I don't see happening anytime soon.

And the fact if you could use your single player character in multiplayer, but had no protection in single player. you could just hack, and get whatever items you wanted (your items would all be client side) and then go sell those items for actual money online.

the whole DRM/always online thing is really starting to get out of hand

and here's the screenshot he mentions in the vid

You'd think Blizzard would of taken notice of the enormous backlash EA got with making C&C4 require a constant internet connection even for singleplayer... This whole "blame the pirates for this" excuse is getting old, you can't stop the pirates and all they are doing is scaring off existing and new customers by treating them all like criminals. I miss the old days of gaming, when developers treated us honest gamers with respect...

That doesn't even make sense. I'm simply elite and not some ****** noob who takes breaks to eat and drink water and talk to people.

Congratulations on being good at the game. That being said, if your only way to have a coherant dialog is to call people "noobs" you should just stick to the game.

Just curious, those who are complaining about having to play single player whilst connected online, do you disconnect your internet when playing other non online games? not sure what the issue is here?

Don't own the game, but I do believe it's silly that if you want to play single player (For whatever the reason) you need to be online for it. So I can sympathise with the people who are complaining about it.

Yep. That took place in what... open Battle.net on D2? Was kind of fun though seeing what all crazy things people would make. I remember having charms that would unleash hellfire/meteors when you struck enemies, and also summoned Diablo-like creatures as if the ****storm damage you were doing wasn't enough. :p

Umm, open battle.net for D2 was were you went with your hacked character to test out against other hacked characters. Closed Battle.net in D2 is were you played the game for no cheats. Back then, they gave us the option. Nothing in open battle.net hurt anything in closed. Stop pretending like it did.

Wow, this guy sounds legitimately angry over this. Totally agree with him. I was putting off Diablo III until PvP was implemented but... I really don't think I want to give them my money anymore. It's not about the annoyances or inconveniences, it's about what they stand for with the AH and all.

Whoa, someone didn't read my post right at all. I didn't say anything about closed battle.net being hurt by this at all. I was talking about having fun in open battle.net with crazy hacked items.

Can I buy you a cup of coffee? I think you woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. :s

HAHA, Ya, I'll take ya up on that coffee. Played D3 waaay to late, and apparently didn't get enough sleep, my bad man. I don't know what the hell I read now that I look back at my reply.. HAHA my bad.

'Diablo III' auction house delayed amid bugs

"During the game's Tuesday launch, Blizzard reported issues logging in to play Diablo III due to high traffic. The game requires players to remain online at all times, even in a single-player environment."

Truth be told, there should not have been any issues. Not for a game that retails at 60? and is launched by people who have been running a multi-million user MMO for 8 years.

The fact that their login server of all things fails completely is just.. amateurish at best.

No product should ever have issues. Yet companies like GM that have been around for a hundred years do mass recalls on vehicles. These are 10K+$ vehicles, Apple does mass recalls on 1k+ devices. The only difference is this is digital so patches can be released instead of having to recall the disks. So in comparison.. 60$ is nothing.

@shakey, it's all good man, cheers! :p

Some of the reviews are funny as hell.

"IF YOU ARE CASUAL THEN DON'T READ. BUT IF YOU ARE A D2 RIDE OR DIE CRIP, READ THIS! ..."

why should you have to log in and possibly wait in a que to play a Single Player game? not to mention the fact that if you lose internet at any time while playing you get kicked out (still talking about single player here)

    • Hello, Installed here without issue. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Microsoft updates Visual Studio Code with easier language model discovery and in-app search by Paul Hill Microsoft has released Visual Studio Code 1.125, its latest weekly release. This week, the company has focused on discovering and installing extra language models via the Marketplace; searching the web and securely browsing over remote connections without leaving VS Code; choosing how long VS Code waits before installing extension updates; and delivering managed Copilot settings through existing device management tooling. In older versions of VS Code, extensions could contribute their own model providers, but to find these extensions, you needed the right tags to search for in the Extension view. Now, the Language Models editor gives you an Install Model Providers button that opens the Extensions view, which is filtered to extensions that contribute model providers, making it easier to find and install them. Once you install a provider, its model will appear in the model picker. If you use the integrated browser much, you can now look up information without leaving VS Code by typing a query into the integrated browser’s address bar. It will use your configured search engine, the same way a standalone browser does. You can use workbench.browser.searchEngine to pick a search engine. When the browser is opened in a remote workspace, it's now possible to proxy HTTP(S) traffic via the remote connection. This allows you to connect to any ports or services that can only be accessed from the remote machine. If you read our coverage from two weeks ago about VS Code 1.123, you might have seen that extension updates have a two-hour delay as a safety measure. In this update, Microsoft is giving you the ability to configure the time of the delay. You can find it under extensions.autoUpdateDelay. Finally, with this update, admins can deliver managed GitHub Copilot settings through native device management (MDM) channels on Windows and macOS, in addition to account-based enterprise settings files. Settings delivered via MDM appear as policy-enforced in VS Code and can’t be overridden locally. Future updates will extend the supported policy keys across Copilot surfaces. You can download the update from the Visual Studio Code website now.

    • This is how much iPhone 18 Pro could cost after Apple's price hike confirmed by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed in a recent interview that the company may have to raise prices on some of its products due to the ongoing memory shortage. While he did not elaborate on the scale of the price hikes, new estimates suggest that Pro iPhone models could become significantly more expensive this fall. The Wall Street Journal and research firm TechInsights have come up with an educated estimate of how much the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could cost after its launch in September. The estimate is based on current increases in memory and storage chip prices. For starters, the iPhone 18 Pro base model is expected to feature 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. According to TechInsights estimates, 12GB of DRAM for the iPhone 17 Pro cost Apple $39 last year. However, for the iPhone 18 Pro, the cost of the same amount of DRAM could soar to $145. Likewise, 256GB of flash storage that previously cost $13 could now cost around $51. Producing a base iPhone 17 Pro reportedly cost Apple around $582, but TechInsights estimates that the production cost of the iPhone 18 Pro could rise to $726. If Apple wants to maintain the roughly 47% profit margin it enjoys on the iPhone 17 Pro, the base price of the iPhone 18 Pro would need to reach $1,371. After standard pricing adjustments, customers could end up paying around $1,299 for the base model. However, that may not be the end of the story. As we previously reported, the iPhone 18 Pro is said to feature a variable-aperture lens, which could cost Apple at least 50% more than the current camera system. The estimated $1,299 price tag does not include the additional cost of this upgraded camera hardware. Once that expense is factored in, the base model could cost at least $1,399. A $1,399 price tag for the base iPhone 18 Pro would represent a significant increase over the current $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro. If Apple wants to keep its upcoming iPhones competitive, it may need to accept lower profit margins.
