Want to rotate a video 90

Recommended Posts

I want to rotate the following video 90? right:

  • 7 seconds, 640x480, AVI, 8.01 MB, 30 fps. The data rate is 9231 kbps.

I have used Free Video Flip and Rotate and VirtualDub.

I (think I) expected a 480x640 video.

Both programs rotated the video but both, for some reason, both used 480x360.

Both videos look stretched.

Also, the video that VirtualDub threw out was 184 MB, which is silly.

Any ideas?

If it doesn't get stretched, there will be black bars on the sides of your video that shouldn't be too bad, you can always look into creating a cool background for it. What video software are you using to edit your videos? If you use even a very simple one you should be able to rotate it. I think even iMovie and Movie Maker can do this effect. If you can't I head that Adobe has made CS2 available for free, you can see if that include Premiere.

In the editor select the rotated clip and look for the aspect ratio control (varies dditor to editor). Set it to maintain the sources aspect ratio and it won't stretch, but you will get the black bars on either side. It's called pillaring - the same thing you get when you play a 4:3 movie on an HD panel.

You can set the projects background color to anything but black if you want, or you can use the rotated clip as an overlay track over an image file for a non-solid background. Apply a luma key and the black bars sill disappear, letting the background image show through.

    • Started implementing weapons! Here's a little sneak peek! 👀 Animation was done inside of Unreal Engine using Control Rig! Really useful tool, I don't have to go back and forth between Blender and UE, you can basically make tweaks while the game is running.
    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
