MacBook Pro with Retina display announced

Because the new 15" has a higher resolution than the old 17". You can even set it to a software-scaled mode that gives you just as much real estate as the old 17".

Thing is, I like bigger screens, because I have an addiction for a bigger view and trying to see every aspect of what I'm doing. Even if it's retina.

Priced into the stratosphere, but I'm happy to see higher resolution displays making it out. 4K screens on the PC is my hope soon.

Yeah, and not only the price is sky high, but now they removed the CD ROM and the Ethernet port too - yes, you heard right, no more Ethernet port!!! - What a joke.

Way to go Apple....

The new MBP is too thin to put an Ethernet port on there.

When did Ethernet become obsolete?... You make the computer thick enough for Ethernet as it is still a basic port.

Insane. I would never buy a computer without an Ethernet port. Wireless is just not there yet and probably never will be.

There's a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter for $29. Since Thunderbolt is just external PCI-E, it should perform exactly the same as if it were onboard.

For those that don't want to use an adapter, there are the other Macbook Pro versions and other manufacturers.

For notebook they're not used often (last time I used an ethernet cord with a notebook is in 2005 at my university). If you still need a "legacy" port, they have adapters for that

Maybe you don't use it often but I do... It is great for doing a network install of my OS or copying large files across between my laptop and my various machines...

So I should spend more money on top of the already insane MSRP of this machine!? Add to that the cost of an optical drive and I'm left wondering what Apple was thinking here.

And that's why for the minority there's a $29 adapter

Maybe you didnt realize the Macbook Pro 15" NON RETINA STILL EXISTS FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU.

lmao complain about apple all you want guys but if you didnt realize this, THEY ARENT MAKING YOU BUY IT. They completed created a new model instead of the rumors saying "they will be updating the 15"s with new slimmer design and no ethernet or optical so start getting us too it". But... they didnt. You will only get it if you absolutely want it.

Frazell, I am one of the people to also use ethernet on my laptops to do OS Installs or copy large files, but guess what, for $29 more i will GLADLY get an adapter cause are you literally plugged into ethernet on your laptop all the time? If so, dont get it. I use ethernet for those large transfers. So an adapter is better then a bigger computer. I will GLADLY BUY AN ADAPTER, I can leave on my desk, rather then get another macbook pro after seeing and holding the new one. Not only the screen, but the weight and size, omfg. THAT SOLD ME INSTANTLY.

So, dont hate apple cause they changed there design and did what they saw fit. If they got rid of the entire 15" for the MBPR then be mad. But they didnt, so get over it. They acknowledged that the 15" line is the "Professional" Line, but there is another model, that caters to both the "i want a air like 15 inch" and i want the "15 inch" like performance.

They did a pretty damn good job.

Apple likes to remove future dead tech (ethernet, and optical drive) even if it's not actually dead yet.

Removing the Ethernet port is a big mistake, especially for IT people like myself who need that port to connect to customer modems to configure them, etc. As much as I love Apple products, I would never get a Mac Book Pro now. No CD ROM, No Ethernet port, no way.

    • It could EASILY be 70 for the base game BUT + lots of FOMO to make it up to 100-120, like a few days Early Access, online money, pre-order bonus cars, weapons, missions, clothing, avatars or profile stuff, etc... And still WAY TOO MANY people would buy those and make Rockstar insane money.

    • WTF! Nah, not this one. If you were back then using computers in the 90s or you had a clue, you'd know this was huge and was seen and overused absolutely everywhere and you'd take this article as no more than a retrospective story. That's all it is.
    • these "editors" get paid by the amount of articles and not the quality of content; hence why we get this random stuff from the same "editor" time and time again.
