So what happens to all of us who are running Win 8 RP as their only OS now?

Do we have to reinstall Win7 on our machine to be able to get the upgrade?

Or can we give a valid key on purchase of the Win 8 upgrade?

RP is a valid upgrade source.

But how will they check if I have a valid Windows license so I can purchase the Windows 8 upgrade online.

Surely they won't just check my Win 8 RP key, they gave that one for free to me.

I don't understand why ghack made this statement

It is interesting to note that Windows 8 Release Preview users who have not purchased an earlier version of Windows can use the Upgrade to install the full version of Windows 8.

Mr LeBlanc had made clear in his post

People moving from the Windows 8 Preview will need make sure you have an underlying license for either Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7
