Teenage Girl Drinks 18 Pints of Coca Cola PER DAY.

Recommended Posts

A teenager was left in agony in hospital after an addiction to Coca-Cola led her to drink 18 pints of it every day.

Pretty Zoe Cross, 18, caught an infection made worse by severe dehydration caused by guzzling so much of the fizzy drink. And she was warned she could DIE unless she cut down her massive intake.

Zoe said: ?I admit I?m addicted to Coke ? not the drug, the drink. I ended up on a saline drip for five days. The doctors said my body couldn?t cope with such a huge amount of sugar and caffeine and warned me my kidneys could shut down if I didn?t stop.?

Zoe, of Milnrow, Lancs, got hooked on Coke when she was 14, downing a daily deluge of 24 cans from the supermarket. Her habit spiralled out of control when she landed a part-time job at her local Subway, where staff are allowed free fizzy drinks at work.

Eventually she collapsed and was rushed to Oldham Hospital with an E. coli infection thought to have been triggered by swigging straight from unwashed cans. After being treated she cut back on Coke but was still drinking two litres a day.

Last week the 5ft 4in, 12st teenager had a SECOND collapse and is now suffering cramps with deterioration of her ankle and spinal joints.

She said: ?Coming off Coke has been hard because I get terrible headaches when I don?t drink it. But I?m hoping I?ll pull through.?

A Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust form handed to Zoe after her treatment cited ?excessive Coke drinking?.

Coca-Cola said yesterday: ?All of our drinks can be consumed in moderation as part of a healthy diet.?

I wonder if she has false teeth?

Healthy diet ?

It's not untrue... Coke, like most things in Moderation is fine for you.

It's over doing it that leads to issues..

Hell if you drink too much Water you'll die too.. All good things in moderation :)

The thing is when you're working you don't really realise how much you're drinking. I used to work at Subway as store manager and I would drink large amounts of coffee, as it was free and there at the touch of a button. Working 14hr shifts I'd often drink 9-10 cups of coffee a day, as well as tea at home - not drinking any water. I didn't even realise it was a problem until I ended up having to go to hospital in the middle of a shift because of chest pains and shortness of breath (quite concerning as I'm not overweight and exercise regularly).

Since then I've dramatically cut back, after avoiding caffeine for months (I had headaches and nausea while I was in withdrawal). I drink fruit tea and have the occasional coffee - usually decaf.

I'm getting from this that it is bad for you to work at Subway :D

This.

Reminds me of the German saying: "Alles in Ma?en", which means "Everything in moderation"

vs. the joking pronounciation "Alles in Massen" (sped up pronounciation of the s-sound) which means "Everything en masse"

Reminds me of an overweight lady on television boasting that she is healthy because she ate 5kg of Apples each day. You can abuse almost everything if you give it half a chance and to blame Cocoa Cola as some have done is just ridiculous. You're correct, if you drink or eat in moderation you'll live a perfectly healthy life.

Everything in vast quantities is bad for you, I saw a man in Afghanistan at work collapse and be rushed to the Med Centre because he'd drunk too much water and it had washed the essential minerals out of his body. So I made sure after every 2L of water id drink a can of coke or something.

This exactly. Everything in moderation, even the things that are good for you. Hell, people have died from drinking way too much water even... (see water intoxication)

Hard to say from the image but it doesnt look so to me,though she does need to cut back on the make up too

She'll likely lose some of that extra weight too (can certainly see it in her face), given how cutting out soda in general can easily shave off a couple pounds just from the change in diet like that.

I probably drink 2-4 ltrs a day of coke.. and while i know its bad for you, its the only thing that seems to quench my thirst (granted its probably having the opposite effect)

Im trying to stop drinking it before i have serious health problems!

I used to drink about 2 - 3 litres of (Vanilla) Coke a day up until 2005. What made me stop? Excessive weight gain and kidney issues. Once I quit drinking it I lost 20 kg within a few months.

These days I hardly ever drink Coke or other fizzy drinks at all.

Water is the best drink on the planet in my opinion followed by milk, vodka and stella :D

Ppl who say water tastes horrible or to bland dont drink enough of it for it to become nice. So refreshing way better than any fizzy or juice drink, although at least drinking fruit juices your putting minerals and stuff in to your body
