The metal is indestructible (well, not completely, it has some weakness, but indestructible in terms of standard weaponry), it's likely only the paint that is chipped/scratched (not sure which image(s) you are referring to).

Jesus christ, that trailer was amazing. I hope the whole movie is as good as that trailer. The action looks insano. CARRIER vs.CARRIER BATTLEEEEE WOOHOO.
