So I have been using Beautiful Widgets forever and have grown tired of the lack of decent skins for them.

Got a nice weather skin but the clock just isn't right.

Can anyone suggest any other clock/weather apps which they have found to be useful?

I don't need it to be graphically intense, just nice and simple, but attractive.

There are lot of nice and simple skins for beautiful widgets, but it don't show much detail, you should try Fancy widgets, which is almost similar to beautiful widgets with more detail (weather details). another one is HD widgets (but not my type), animated weather widgets also have cool weather details.

Well, here's the shot of what I have had for a while now:

Although I downloaded Digital Clock which has given me a nice clean look:

I wonder if I can turn the clock off in the corner...

Task now is to fit a weather app around it. Just a shame there's now a new app in my app list (which may turn me off it in the end).

I could remove the Gmail and Camera apps from the home screen as I rarely use the Gmail one and the Camera is only an extra click away. But then it looked a bit empty :(

I like Beautiful Widgets myself. Here is what mine looks like currently....

Would have to use either Apex or Nova launchers...or root your phone and apply a mod or custom ROM.

That's nice, although I don't like the clock font.

Might be able to change it through root explorer but I don't know if it'll let me while the phone is on or if I'll have to restart.

WeatherEye is good but it seems to not keep up with my changing location enough which is a shame.

There's nothing wrong with Beautiful Widgets, just can't find a decent skin / not talented enough to make my own. Besides, I am loving the new clock. I have WeatherEye temperature on the left and a picture of the weather on the right of the clock.

I dont mind the font so much really. I am constantly changing the look of my phone. But have you checked XDA to see if anyone has been creating their own skins that may suit your needs?

Hmm, xda is so full it's hard to find what I am looking for.

Have a long shift at work tomorrow so will try then.

Installed Go Weather for the nicely changing background wallpapers. However it's downfall is that the weather widget has a glass surround. If there was an option to make the background to the widget invisible, it'd be the winner!

So at the moment, I am using three different apps to tell me the time and weather - OCD :p

Personally I found HD widgets to be the best, since it allows me to turn of everything but the text, giving me a nice clean style. Then can put the weather below.in a separate widget( unless you want it all mingled up in one, then you can use those) and they also come with 1x1 and a 1x4 switcher that has single color switches, allowing for a nice clean home page.

  • 2 weeks later...

Been using BW as well and it suits my needs/look fine. I agree though that font you were using for your clock was horrendous :p

Yea, well...the blue version has 173779 downloads and the white 80418. So some people like it, like me. :p haha

I have been getting bored with it and have been considering changing the font.

    • Are they marketed as an entry into astronomy or astrophotography? I do astrophotography. With big rigs, lots of computers, cables and headaches. I love it. And by learning this ridiculously complex hobby, I’ve learned about the objects I’m shooting. Astronomy followed from photography.
    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.
    • They said by this time everyone will have flying cars. WELL...
    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
