cool!! "Chrome now includes the getUserMedia API, which lets you grant web apps access to your camera and microphone without a plug-in. The getUserMedia API is the first step in WebRTC, a new real-time communications standard which aims to allow high-quality video and audio communication on the web."

before anyone jump to conclusion it need explicit permission to enable them.

Also the performance of the omnibox is much better.

Those are the new icons. I preferred the small world icon instead of the page icon.

Is there a way to get the Instant Search feature in the omnibar working for Bing? I remember it used to work way back when they first introduce the feature in Chrome 13.

^A minor yet cool change, haha. Is there any word of a better built-in download manager coming to Chrome? Perhaps something like the one in the latest Safari, like a button in the toolbar with a dropdown menu? Kinda like what they're doing in Firefox as well.

Also, I'm still hoping for Google to change the folder icon for Bookmark folders. The current one looks like a folder icon you'd expect to see in Windows 2000 and below.

Edit: They've also seemed to have changed something regarding with Font rendering. For example; The time indicators on YouTube in the player look different than before the new Dev Channel Update. I have also noticed this on Facebook on the 3 buttons in the top toolbar. These are the only places where I have noticed it so far.

Edit 2: Font rendering has changed period. Not only for those things mentioned above but font rendering in general has changed since this Dev Channel Update.

They should get rid of this icon for the OS X version because you can just go to Chrome > Preferences

Google working to add the ability for Chrome to automatically create tab groups
      by Abhay Venkatesh

Google debuted tab groups with Chrome 85, bringing the ability to group similar tabs, rename, and color code them for enhanced tab management. The firm is also set to add the option to collapse groups, which is currently available in Chrome Canary. Now, a new Chromium commit has been spotted that suggests that the search giant is working to add the ability to automatically create groups.

The experimental flag is already present in Chrome Canary under the ‘Tab Groups Auto Create’ name. However, the feature seems to still be under development as enabling the flag does not activate any features. Another entry for the feature details the possible function of the feature. The verbiage suggests that Chrome will be able to automatically create a tab group when users open “a tab with the same domain as its parent tab”.

Other references in the Chromium entry point towards UI elements to enable this feature, a scrollable tab strip, and more. It is not clear as to what other capabilities the feature will bring when it does make it to all users. While the option to create groups for webpages of the same domain is a nifty addition, it will be interesting to see how the feature evolves, and if it intelligently groups pages with similar content, something that could rival the likes of Edge’s Collections.

Google's Advanced Protection Program will now scan risky files on-demand
      by Usama Jawad

Back in 2017, Google announced its Advanced Protection Program (APP) to secure accounts of high-risk individuals such as journalists, business executives, activists and people involved in electoral processes. While the service is free to use, people who enroll in the program may have to pay a fee to procure a security key.

In August 2019, Google stated that for APP users, Chrome will automatically scan for risky downloads, trigger alerts if required, and even block files containing malware from downloading. Now, the firm is making further enhancements to this feature.

In a blog post, Google has highlighted that APP customers are already protected from phishing and Chrome also warns them when downloading risky files. Now, the company is taking this a step further by allowing them to send risky files directly to Google for scanning of potential threats. The tech giant will be using its cloud-hosting Safe Browsing suite of malware detection technology to analyze any files uploaded to its service. Google says:

With the U.S. presidential elections just around the corner - amidst reports of increased cyberattacks - Google has encouraged members of political campaigns to enroll in APP. You can find out more details about the program here.

Here's how you can change your default browser in iOS 14 and iPadOS 14
      by Rich Woods

When Apple announced iOS 14 back in June, it promised a lot of long-awaited features, solutions to things that have become a joke in the iOS ecosystem. For example, with iOS 14, you'll finally be able to add widgets to the home screen, and there will finally be an app drawer, meaning you won't have to have every single app listed on your home screen.

But also, you're going to be able to change your default browser for the first time. In fact, you'll also be able to change your default email application. While users have been able to test out iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 for months, this feature hasn't shown up.

Of course, one of the key reasons is that a browser doesn't just automatically become a candidate to be a default browser. Apple has to approve it and give access to an API, making sure it meets certain standards.

The first one seems to be Google Chrome, and you don't even have to be on the Chrome beta (which is full anyway). Here's how you can set Chrome as your default browser:

Download and install the latest version of Google Chrome from the App Store. In Settings, find the listing for Chrome. Select Default Browser App, and choose Chrome. The trick is to know that you have to go into the app's settings, rather than assuming that there's some general setting somewhere. Also, a search for 'default' in the Settings app won't turn anything up.

The instructions will be similar for changing the default with any app, whether it's for email or a web browser. It's just that at the time of this writing, only Chrome supports it. Presumably, Microsoft has Edge and Outlook on the way.
