New System Sounds and Beautiful Ringtones in Windows 8 RTM

Recommended Posts

I always really liked the Windows Phone ringtones / alert sounds. These are no exception. (Y) Used them on my HTC Legend a while back. Glad I now own the real deal. Anyway, thanks to the OP for taking the time to post this for our listening pleasure.

PS Nice how the Windows team made sure all default apps, like Windows Media Player, fit in properly with the new flat desktop theme. /s

Are you paid by Microsoft?

All you seem to do is make pro-windows 8 threads.

The sounds are awful they all sound the same.

So he likes Windows 8, so what? :p

Yes, I was quite disappointed that they didn't update Windows Media Player. I really like WMP (way more than the metro music app). So sad to see it ignored.

I know, I'm just interested to see what has changed from RP to RTM.

You are interested to see what's changed? These sounds are one of the things that changed.

Why do we need a demo of what sound files are in Windows 8 though?

Especially ones that sound mostly the same.

Because the default ones are not only NOT the same (they differ from ANY of the Previews, which used the defaults from Windows 7) they don't even match up with any of Windows 7's OPTIONAL audio theme packs.

Basically, anything BUT the same. (Delta is closest, but it still is a LONG way from Delta - in Vista and 7 - to the default in Windows 8.)

The same as each other, not the same as Windows 7, genius.

Also, please keep the conversation about the topic, which is system sounds and ringtones in Windows 8 RTM

But do people really care about this?

A serious question, by the way, as i've never given any notice to the sounds that windows makes.

Nice little sounds..

But..

I can't BELIEVE that sound control applet is STILL THE SAME ONE... hasn't it been the same since fricking Win95?!

They sound nicely muted, but a bit way too similar compared to each other methinks.

Looks similar but Windows 95 had a slightly different sound CP.

Forgot to say, i'm loving the new sounds too. Noticed them with little clicks and notices here and there and was like - soft but attention getting still.

I'm not much of a fan of OS sounds personally, the only one I really pay any attention to is the boot sound, so I know my computer has finished powering itself on, but hell it's not as if disabling them is hard if you don't like them. From my limited experience so far I don't think 8's sounds are any better or worse than those in 7
