Quite the hike on the system requirements side of things just to run it on a mac.

It's because Transgaming is behind the port. That means they're using Cider, which is basically a branch of Wine that they added a lot of proprietary code to. In other words, it's still the Windows version of the game with the DirectX calls translated in real time to OpenGL and Core Audio. So, yea, it's kind of like being emulated, which is going to demand more hardware. It sucks, but it's a lot better than nothing.

I hope that even though your explanation is perfectly reasonable that somehow the 'final' code will allow for further leniency in the Mac platform, I have an '08 MacBook Pro with an Nvidia 8600m etc. =/ Could still Boot Camp buuut it would be cool if the current requirements got lowered.

Even if they lowered the requirements to match the Windows version that 8600m is very unlikely to give you an enjoyable experience.

It's highly unlikely.

I have a core i5 750 with a Radeon 6950 and even at a lower 1650 res i need to turn some settings down (shadows notably and reflection) to play the game without any lag. I can hardly hit 40fps unless i turn a lot of things down ... It's not wow. The gfx are really good. In fact it's one of the best looking game i have installed on my PC right now.

I just ordered a 670 OC to be able to play the game at 1080p with all settings at max.

A 8600m might be able to run the game on Windows. But you would lose so much i don't think it would be worth playing the game. I think the minimum to have a good experience while playing this game would be a Radeon 5850.

    • Got it. Seem like a good improvement. Thanks. But, before we "Add the source to Trusted Sites," how would know if it is trusted or not? Could get messy for not first Knowing" it is clean. See what I mean?

    • I just started using Teams (and “New” Oiutlook) at work (instead of Slack) and both are truly abysmal pieces of software.
