Sony's MLB The Show 21 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one
      by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe

Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed recently that its longtime-running baseball series MLB The Show would be shedding exclusivity and hitting Xbox consoles for the first time in the franchise with the upcoming 2021 edition. Now, Microsoft has announced that the game is hitting Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Other than purchasing it outright, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players can gain access to MLB The Show 21 on the day it releases by having an Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription active. Moreover, the title will have cloud play support on Android phones and tablets, which is available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

"As we said from the beginning, this is an incredible moment for all of us and bringing the franchise to more players and baseball fans is something that we at MLB, MLB Players, Inc., and Xbox are all excited about," said MLB Senior Vice President Jamie Leece. "We can’t wait for Xbox fans to experience the fastest, deepest, and most intense moment-to-moment baseball action yet."

Developed by Sony's first-party developer San Diego Studio, MLB The Show 21 is coming out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on April 20.

I host a regular quiz every Thursday evening - been doing so for 15 years, usually in-person but thanks to the pandemic we decided to move it online.  It's taught me so much, how to use OBS, how to light properly, ways to use Zoom and so on. It's pretty raucus, very much a case of banter and questions rather than anything overly serious - it can get a bit daft and borderline rude at times, but we have fun.

With us now being in the run-up to a somewhat awkward Christmas, I also hosted a more family-centric Christmas quiz this weekend.

      The rounds included:

Round 1 – Name the movie Round 2 – Name the original artist Round 3 – Music Round 4 – Name the artist & title Round 5 – Name the advert Round 6 – Food & Drink Round 7 – What’s the missing word Round 8 – Music Round 9 – Name the celebrity Round 10 – Name the artists mixed in Round 11 – Television Round 12 – Name the artist & title
Should you want to do something similar with your family, friends or colleagues – feel free to download this and use as you see fit.  It's just a way I can do something for people to keep them from focusing on what's maybe getting them down.

Merry Christmas and please take care of those you love, and at least show human decency to those you don't.

TwitchCon San Diego has been canceled due to COVID-19
      by Usman Khan Lodhi

Twitch has canceled TwitchCon San Diego, the streaming platform's biggest annual conference in the United States, citing "restrictions on large gatherings and ongoing concerns for the health and safety." Earlier in March, it also canceled TwitchCon Amsterdam, which was a two-day event scheduled for May 2.

The event had previously been slated for September 25 to September 27. While the event has been canceled, Twitch is aiming to host some form of TwitchCon later this year. As per the announcement, that might take place online. The firm stated:

Out of caution for the coronavirus pandemic, several major gaming events have been canceled, notably including Fortnite World Cup 2020 and the Game Developers Conference. However, the organizers for the latter announced that it has been transformed into an all-digital event, starting on August 4.

Microsoft has been sending out subtly concealed $10 gift cards via emailed newsletters
      by Hamza Jawad

If you tend to ignore newsletter emails from Microsoft or any other company for that matter, you might want to reconsider your stance following the emergence of rather interesting news. First pointed out by a Reddit user, it has been discovered that the Redmond giant has been sending out hidden $10 gift cards through its promotional emails commemorating the holiday season.

Apparently, users who clicked on the trees shown in a screenshot of the email were redirected to a separate website that would then provide them with a free $10 gift card. However, don't start sifting through your spam folder just yet. As has been confirmed by a number of people in the comments section of the original post, the offer has seemingly expired a few hours ago. Clicking on the concealed link now will only lead you to a webpage that states that the "limited offer is no longer available". Images posted by multiple users have also confirmed that the free gift cards were only available to people in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

That's not all, however. Rather interestingly, this email is only one of three that have been received by users in the past few weeks. As is indicated by the fine print displayed underneath the offer expiration message, it looks as though similar emails were sent out on November 27 and December 5, aside from the most recent one emailed a couple of days ago. The first of the aforementioned emails was sent commemorating Black Friday, and it contained the picture of a blue squirrel, clicking upon which would grant you $10 in the form of a gift card. Therefore, it seems that a certain pattern is being followed here.

It goes without saying that the offers in the previous two emails have expired as well. Regardless, the message "More surprises are on the way..." clearly indicates that Microsoft has more, perhaps similar, surprises planned for the holiday season. Don't forget to subscribe to promotional offers from Microsoft in case you are interested in receiving such emails in the future.
