I downloaded it and it would not install. I kept getting these strange errors to do with IE4.inst or some such thing. Then it would not let me re install IE 9. I had to re image my PC in order to get it back to normal. I think I will now wait until it is available on Windows Update. I don't use it anyway but was just curious.

wow, not good, I haven't bothered with it yet, I don't use IE so decided to wait until its final too

Not sure how accurate this is, but when it first appeared, people were saying it also brings DX11.1 to Win 7, not everything that Win 8 gives with DX11.1 but enough to make Win 7 support it

The preview version of IE10 is VERY stable on Win7, and fully functional! ...as for your "IE4.inst" issue, I wonder if that's possibly due to a corrupt download of the IE10 Preview setup? I know I had some with the IE10 preview not installing at first, and had to redownload the setup again (and run it from a different location too - not from my SkyDrive folder!)

But I would certainly recommend Windows 7 users upgrade their IE to the IE10 preview, as I say, it's really stable, fully functional, and is a LOT more standard's compliant than IE9 - you really will have a better all round browsing experience!

I don't know, but since I do not use IE, I will wait until it is final.

Oh, I agree, IE10 still has a long way to go to match the standards compliance & speed of the latest versions of other major browsers currently available, but if you're an IE user, IE10 preview is a significant "step forward" from IE9.

We develop a browser-based scheduling app that's supported in all 5 major browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera AND Safari), and so we regularly have to use and test all of these browsers.

In fact, when we did a side-by-side test of them the day after the IE10 preview came out back in November, we actually found that IE10 preview had a higher memory consumption than IE9, and that browser start-up times were slower for IE10 preview than IE9. But those two issues aside (which I'm sure will be improved on for the full IE10 release), IE10 preview is far more standards compliant (HTML5, CSS3, etc) than IE9, and does perform better both in terms of page load/rendering times, and javascript performance.

Anyway, If you're interested, our full browser report (where, alongside IE9 & 10, we also tested Chrome 23, Firefox 16, Opera 12, & Safari 5) can be found here

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 Ready to Launch

http://news.softpedi...ch-329896.shtml

Yes, we concur that a full IE10 release date for Windows 7 will likely be at the end of this month, or early March, based upon the time between when the IE9 blocker kit was released, and then when IE9 was subsequently released. ....IE10 really can't come soon enough!!

    • New PowerToys update fixes memory leaks and other issues by Taras Buria Another bug-fixing update is available for PowerToys version 0.100. After releasing version 0.100.1 with a bunch of bug fixes and patches, Microsoft pushed version 0.100.2 to address two important issues with one of Command Palette Dock's features. With PowerToys 0.100.2, Microsoft fixed the performance meter displaying incorrect values and memory leaks, which are particularly unwanted things in the current situation with overpriced PC hardware. Here is the changelog: Reverted a Performance Monitor dock refresh change that forced item refreshes on every metric update Fixed a memory leak in the Performance Monitor dock extension by reusing stable network upload/download band items instead of creating new list items on each refresh For those unfamiliar, Command Palette Dock is a relatively new addition to PowerToys. It is a taskbar-like tool that you can keep on top of the screen to pin various useful widgets, commands, and more. It can display time, weather, your PC's performance metrics, and more. Microsoft introduced the Command Palette Dock in March 2026 in PowerToys 0.98. Microsoft has dedicated documentation for Command Palette Dock, and you can check it out on the official Microsoft Learn website. You can update PowerToys to the latest version by going to Settings > General and clicking "Check for updates." Alternatively, you can download the installer from GitHub using this link. In other news, Microsoft is working on a new window-management utility for PowerToys. Called Alt Window Cycle, it will let you use the Alt + ` shortcut to switch between different windows in a single app. You can learn more about the tool here.
    • You did take leaf out of Trumps book already and had brexit - only to harm yourself. The same goes with this AI nonsense. The obvious solution for these companies is to move their head office to Brussels. I can see quite much irony there... 🙂
    • Thank gawd AT&T never worked with the US gov....
    • Wonder if they are trying to slow down Linux traction (not saying this is the only factor) in the consumer space. With the most pressure probably being steam deck/box, etc.
