Yeah, let's sue everybody!!!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

the rhetoric being used would get you arrested in Europe for hate speech if it was being used against Muslims, Jews, blacks, or Asians. but for some damned reason it's perfectly acceptable to use against Americans. theyarecomingforyou is a bigot to say the absolute least.

Let's say it's some rule of your work place. If you don't follow the rules you get fired, right?

Not where i live. You can fire an employee only if you don't need him anymore or if he's not doing his job (or if he prevent others from doing their). No clause in a contract can overrule the laws.

When a woman is expecting child that's when she most needs support and financial security, yet some Christians think the appropriate behaviour is to terminate her employment and publicly humiliate her. It's disgusting. If there's any depravity taking place it's on the part of Christians.

hahahahah she got fired and SHE hired a lawyer to get on TV and the media. Again, nice try.

Maybe if she kept her hoo ha in her pants, she would still have a job. I am so tired of consequencless actions, and the blaming of Christians for not blindly accepting everything.

This is the last bastion of evil... to accept everything, and make YOU the bad one for not tolerating everything. There is such a thing as morals, either you have and accept them, or you don't.

I speak out against Islam on a regular basis and I haven't been arrested yet. What gives?

Having to have right and wrong dictated to you by a sky dictator because you can't figure it out for yourself isn't morality, it's authoritarian coercion. You don't have morality, you simply lack empathy.

Some women in Indonesia killed her male son today because she thought his weenie was too small. So do not blame Christianity , worse things happen in other religions in other counties.

Indonesian mother kills son over 'small penis'

ROFL

That doesn't mean anything and that doesn't make anything better.

I give you a D-.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm actually looking for things in Canada, maybe in Vancouver.

^ It means that there are worse things happening in other countries. to counter the anti-US Bias that exists is this forum as previously posted. I live in Ohio, and if you are not in a Union , you can be terminated for any reason. They do not even have to give you a reason.

I despise Islam, but that still doesn't excuse you. In reasonable countries people don't lose their jobs because of ridiculous stone age ideals, over things that don't have a sodding thing to do with how they do their job. If you're going to start sacking people for having sex, what's next? firing them for farting, burping, and peeing?

If you want to find "worse" things around the world, I'm sure you can find WAY more than that.

But are you really really convinced that comparing USA to Indonesia, a 1st world country with a 3rd world country, is a valid comparison in any way? REALLY?

How about you man up and compare to, say, France, Germany, UK, NZ, Australia, etc... well...you know...some 1st world countries?

If I ran an office and someone peed on the floor, they would be fired before they could zip up.

Do not give me that BS you are complaining about religions. Islam is growing like wildfire in The UK and Europe so you better get used to it.

Yes, because that's clearly what I was talking about. Sigh.

No that is not what you said. And BTW, I do not hate Islam. I have no hate for any religion.

A chimp with an IQ of 12 could probably have figured the inference I was trying to make. Ok, let me spell it out a bit more clearly:

Reasonable countries do not have situations where people lose their jobs for things they do as consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes. Things which by rights are not even anyone else's business.

Some women in Indonesia killed her male son today because she thought his weenie was too small. So do not blame Christianity , worse things happen in other religions in other counties.

Just because someone somewhere does something insane, doesn't absolve Christianity of the things IT gets up to.

It's not aimed at Americans, it's aimed at extremist religious groups. That this lot happen to be American christians is irrelevant.

If you don't like that, well... Boo hoo.

No in reasonable countries, an employer can fire an employee anytime they want without giving any reason. In reasonable countries, when said emplyee goes to court to sue the employer, least they get is laughed at and escorted out of the premises.

As for the church, I think they were in their complete rights to fire her from her job for having premarital sex. Because not only is it immoral, it's hypocritical if you're preaching celibacy while one of your employees is going around getting into everyone's pants. Had she been in some other country where having premarital sex is illegal, losing her job would have been the least of her concerns. When in rome, you should do like the romans do i.e. not have sex if you work at a religious institute.

No, that's what UNreasonable countries do. Reasonable countries protect workers from things like being fired without reason.

It's none of the churches business what she does in her private life; as long as it doesn't affect her ability to do the work she's set. This is a clear case of someone being fired because they're pregnant, and the employer finding alternate excuses so they don't have to pay for any maternity leave. That kind of crap is illegal in reasonable countries.

and I wonder what have you done good for the world???

I've seen church helped the homeless and those in need (food, clothes, and place warm to stay, jobs you name it)

please tell us what good have you done for the world more than other religious institutions.

I've seen the Church do just as much good as they've done bad. This is not just personal opinion or bias because I'm an atheist, this is through experiencing some absolutely disgraceful human beings who claim to be Christians (some congregations are like oppressive dictatorships), and unfortunately they've far outweighed the good Christians I've met. I was raised by a Christian who later went to become a Reader and then one of the first women Priests in the UK. The whole Anti-Woman stance in the UK is beyond ridiculous, especially if you go out and meet the clergy with these views - I'd say a good 80% of the men who are against women Priests (and the yet to be passed women Bishops) are closeted homosexuals. Admittedly, like most statistics that is purely speculative, but I have a ridiculous knack for reading people... and it helps when you have a Mother who was in the loop with the rest of the clergy in the country!

I don't know if it is purely survival instincts of being Anti-Women to divert attention from their secret lifestyle or what, but how on earth can you be so devout to the last syllable of a religion... yet you yourself are living in sin according to your precious scripture?! I don't care what colour you are, gender or where and with whom you like to rest your head, but have some human decency and step down from your pedestal of hypocrisy and try practicing some of the other less poisonous parts of your religion.

This is just an example of what I've seen firsthand and not taking into account anything negative that other denominations of Christianity are guilty of, but they are numerous. Concerning the article posted; it really does not surprise me that it's happening, and especially in the USA - what I would like to know is if religious institutions (be it a church, college, school or whatever) in the USA are seen as a pure Religion or if they're subjected to any Business/Employment/Tax regulations? In the UK the Church of England gets away with some outrageous acts of discrimination, tax avoidance and unpleasant treatment of clergy because they are not seen as a Business by the authorities - hell, they don't even have to legally pay their clergy. Actually, my Mother had to apply for her wage and only got it because I was under the age of 18 at the time she was accepted into training. If I wasn't around or a little bit older, they would have refused her application for stipendiary on the basis she was over 55.

I honestly believe if the CoE had their status changed to reflect that of any other company they would be liquidated within 12 months.

Except ignoring all the good things that Christians (Again, not speaking for all religions, this topic is specific) HAVE done in the world with regards to charity organizations if you've spent about 5 minutes researching. Jesus sets a perfect precedence for such. Of course, there are people who are corrupt in some organizations and have abused their privileges, but this is no different than any other charities -- on a general scale on a grand scheme of things your assertion is basically incorrect.

I am not about to enter into Neowin's infamous anti-religious trolling debate so this will be my last post in this tread about this. Moving on...

Exactly.

Continuing off topic and my 2 cents.

You don't have to be a christian to be charitable... The best example is the two biggest givers are atheists...(Hint, gates) But I will agree, religion has done GOOD and BAD, you have to admit that. The problem is, for the public eye, an institution whoms sole existance should only do "good acts", which is what blackhearted response IS. What you did was analyzed and rebutted (sp?) by giving evidence in the manner, but again, as a public institution, historically speaking, I can agree based on the fact that more evil has been done ( again HISTORICALLY speaking) in the name of god...

(Yeah I know we need bad to level off and bla bla bla, not that point.).

On topic, firing someone and taking their livelyhood away is just wrong, disheartning and "do not onto others..." So she screwed up according to her religion, so by their logic "ok let's **** her life a bit more, by taking her job away, that will teach'er". Idiots, if you ask me, the very fact of inflicting this type of damage on a person, does more evil, than what she did in the first place.

That is BS. Helping her with charity is 100% different than allowing sin and depravity under their roof by employees (which was the realtionship she had with the school).

Nice try though. People always assume that Christians have to bend over backwards and reward sin and evil... the Bible says no such thing. Love the sinner, hate the sin. Don't cast stones and think yourself sinless, but under no circomstances do you allow the sin to taint you.

Maybe if you stopped taking outdated beliefs in a fictional book as the world of law this world would be a better place. It's none of your (or anyone's) business what two consenting adults do in their own house and nor is it a sin.

Religion is responsible for scientific progress being held back and more deaths than pretty much anything else on Earth.

Wrong. In reasonable countries the rights reside with the citizens not with commercial interests.

you don't seem to understand that the business, and the land that it operates on, are private property which is owned by someone. You have the right to tell someone to get the hell of your land for any or no reason.. or even a bad reason. Employment isn't a life long contract. No wonder unemployment tends to be much larger in Europe when employers know that hiring someone is likely a life long investment, even if they are lazy or bad at their jobs.

    • I'm not unblocking my camera for this crapola. Sorry, Google.
    • Ummmm that is what is it supposed to do. Just turn if off in settings if you do not want it analyzing your open tabs. Chrome does the same thing with Gemini. Sarfari will do the samething after Apple's AI and even more so with the release of their 27 versions that is now powered by Googles LLM/ML models. Understanding why it is doing it and how it can help you vs jumping to some conspiracy theroy is a much better approach. As long as it can be turned off, all is good. Yes the default should be off but the a lot of people would never discover these features.
