Nobody is understanding the fact that none of this **** would fly if they did it to an American citizen. That's the point he is trying to make. What is the purpose of visiting America to learn about us when all he's learned is how to be exploited by a ubiquitous American corporation?

Anyone who works fast food is being legally exploited as it is. Soon all of America will be filled with 30 hours a week part timers.

By Federal law, you must be paid time and a half pay, when you go over 40 hours per week.

I don't know if this does apply to non-US citizens.

It's not that it doesn't apply to a non-US citizen, overtime doesn't apply to temp or seasonal work. If you are a full time employee then you get overtime by law if you work over 40 hours but this law only applies to full time employees.

I'm not doubting your word on this but do you have a link or something to that law?

I regularly work over 40 hours per week and am on call 24/7/365 and don't get paid any overtime.

Edit: Saw the link you posted above. I fall under one of the exemptions.

Wage and Hour Division (WHD)

Overtime Pay

Overview

The federal overtime provisions are contained in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Unless exempt, employees covered by the Act must receive overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek at a rate not less than time and one-half their regular rates of pay. There is no limit in the Act on the number of hours employees aged 16 and older may work in any workweek. The Act does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest, unless overtime is worked on such days.

The Act applies on a workweek basis. An employee's workweek is a fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 hours ? seven consecutive 24-hour periods. It need not coincide with the calendar week, but may begin on any day and at any hour of the day. Different workweeks may be established for different employees or groups of employees.

But I am in the US and every min wage place I ever worked at said the same thing in my contracts and they made sure to point it out. They don't pay overtime. I am guessing they got around it with creative accounting due to the workweek stipulation. 40 hours during the week, everything else on the weekends. However they pulled it off, I never got overtime nor would I complain about not getting it. If the job is worth 7.5 an hour, I should be getting paid 7.5 an hour for the first hour and the 60th hour. If I don't like it, I can go work somewhere else. Min wage job openings are literally everywhere, even in the worst economy

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
    • How do you connect 5.1 Speakers to this thing?
    • I agree with both of you... It's absolutely imperative that science is completely based on actual proven facts and hard evidence and is not considered dogmatic in any way. Science is not a religion and it will never be, and that's exactly how it's supposed to be.
