Arrested Development Gets Official Netflix Premiere Date

Recommended Posts

I watched four episodes today. It seems really incoherent, inconsistent (I thought we'd get an episode for each character, but episode 4 is Michael again, with a story that seems so detached from anything else) and worst of all, not funny. I'm sure the story will start to make sense at some point, but so far I'm not really enjoying it. One of the great things of earlier seasons is that repeated viewings were as joyful as the first time you saw it, because you discover so many new things. This time around, it feels like it'll be a necessity as it's so disjointed and episodes don't really stand on their own. But, I'm only four episodes in. I'll post more once I see more.

I did the full marathon today. For anyone that is not enjoying the new format please remember there is a lot of setup to what has happened to each family member since the last episode. I assure you it gets better and by the end I totally blue myself.

Yeah I am hating it, I really hope what others say about it getting better is true

Yeah it's very incoherent and just disorganized. The actors honestly don't even seem to be that into it. My wife and I are 6 episodes in now and just stare at it blankly.

The only good laugh I got was Michael opening the votes from in the first episode.

Hopefully as people have said it gets better towards the end. Because this so far is... bad.

I marathoned it and yes the first few episodes were not that great however, it got better towards the end.

However I was REALLY unhappy with how it just ends, leaving so many unanswered questions.

The show really picks up with the first GOB episode. Even the first Tobias one has the feel of the older seasons, but it's followed by the god-awful George Sr. episode (worst episodes of the season), I really had to force myself to sit through those.

The show made a huge mistake of throwing a complex and disorganized plot right in your face, but hadn't made any effort to interest you in it from the start, that's why everyone complains about the first episodes, had they been at least funny the transition could've worked better. By mid-season it picks up and pieces start falling into place, but you can really see that the story serves the actors who obviously couldn't synch their schedules to appear in more than one scene together, instead of the actors serving the story.

Another thing is that the 15-episode season basically leads up to nothing. There wasn't really any resolution or pay-off for splitting one large episode into 15 smaller ones. Admittedly, it was so nice to see them (and George Michael punching Michael was a hilarious last scene), and even a mediocre Arrested Development has better story-telling than majority of sitcoms out there, but they better follow this one with a proper season, and no ridiculous, confusing catch-up again, please.

Overall, despite obvious flaws, it's still Arrested Development. I just hope they don't go the gimmick route again.

P.S. Seth Rogen must be the unfunniest person in the world. I really hope they're done with the idiotic flashbacks.

Also, there is talk that a movie might be in the making as well. So it could have ended how it did due to how the movie will start... But I agree, the ending was very bad, only in regards to how much is left unresolved.

Mitch Hurwitz Is Working On A Major Edit To ?Arrested Development? Season 4

Eventually, there?s going to be a fifth season of Arrested Development, probably, as well as a Koogler movie that will break box-office records worldwide. But until then, Mitch Hurwitz is working on an edit of season four that would certainly change things, probably for the better. Here?s what he said in an interview with Pretentious Film Majors (around 6:35):

?Right now, I?m cutting a version of season four that tells it chronologically.?

My initial late-night binge is the only time I?ve watched a full episode from season four, partially because of the impressive, yet tiresome ?one character, one episode? gimmick, but mostly because I?d always just end up listening to ?Getaway,? instead. But if Hurwitz were to release this new edit, and trim out some of the extra-long episode?s fat, then it might be worth another go-around, if only for more ?and Jeremy Piven.?

    • Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite chip brings on-device AI to Android XR devices by Pradeep Viswanathan Qualcomm has been delivering dedicated SoCs for mixed reality and spatial computing devices for several years. The journey started with the Snapdragon XR1, followed by the Snapdragon XR2 in 2019, the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in September 2023, and finally the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 in 2024. Today, Qualcomm announced a major upgrade with the new Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform, which targets premium mixed reality and spatial computing devices. OEMs can use this SoC to power both all-in-one video-see-through headsets and lightweight, tethered optical-see-through glasses. Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon Reality Elite will power the next wave of Android XR devices coming later this year. These wearables will offer better visuals, improved power efficiency, and deeper on-device AI integration compared to the previous generation. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can deliver up to 48 TOPS of AI performance, allowing large language models and large vision models to run directly on the device for the first time. In addition to enabling new spatial AI experiences, these new AI capabilities will improve head and hand tracking, as well as see-through features. On the performance side, the Snapdragon Reality Elite offers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% higher CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The platform supports visuals of up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second for sharper images and smoother motion. Qualcomm is also claiming significant efficiency improvements. The Snapdragon Reality Elite can offer up to 20% longer battery life under the same workload. More importantly, the chipset can run up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, making headsets more comfortable for users to wear for longer periods. The platform also includes improvements to video see-through, featuring lower latency and better image quality. Qualcomm states that its EVA hardware block helps accelerate demanding computer vision workloads, improving how digital content blends with the real world.
    • Umm... GitHub continues to use AWS. That's the story, that's the headline. There's no "new" news here. GitHub continues to require additional capacity beyond the originally-planned Azure allocations. There's nothing special about this; nothing noteworthy. They're still using AWS' infra until the cutover is complete.

    • Hello, I have used a few TEAM Group SSDs, USB flash drives, and Micro SDXC cards in the past. They all seemed to work fine. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
