Did they already id the child publicly? I know who it is due to some friends in the area that know the family.

Yes. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/16/martin-richard-dead-boston-marathon-explosions_n_3090386.html

something interesting, that's blown up.

Again these buildings have roof top decks, second look at the image, the person is walking towards the blast area not away from it and is still no where near the edge of the building. It's sad how such nonsense has taken off.

AGAIN, all it was was mentioned. No one said 'OMG THERES A GUY THERE!!!!". just an observation that that image had been posted and brought up speculation.

$50,000 Boston Police and Firefighters Unions

So, I tried finding out some new info this morning on the radio while taking my son to pre-school. I always listen to sports talk on XM/Sirius and one of the shows claimed there was a photo of the 8 year old boy at the finish line holding a sign that read "Peace". Immediately I thought that is too convenient and, of course, the show host then claims he saw the photo on twitter :/ When I got home I went on Facebook and my Feed was filled with "We love Boston" with candles and whatever else sentimental stuff (which is fine) but then I see a photo of the 8 year old holding a sign that said "Martin", which is apparently his dad's name (his dad ran in the race). And to top it off, a friend shared a picture of a little girl running with the caption "This 8 year old girl died in the Boston Marathon bombing, like to show support."

I mean, people want to criticize MSM for shoddy reporting but dammit, we don't help ourselves with all of this rampant, blind sharing of "info". I have no idea what is real and what isn't. Then I see the picture of the "no legs man" and how he is a veteran and was a stage piece, I see a Fox News head throwing out comments about killing an entire group of people? I guess I'm the only one but I feel like I'm at the end of my rope here.

seriously... you don't understand the difference between terrorbombings at a sporting event where there's hundreds of cameras set up and filming. and a school shooting where the police are first to set up and control the situation, and where all the victims are school kids.

one's also technically a tragedy while the other is an act of terror.

Who are you directing that comment to?

^ You guys aren't seriously giving 4chan images credence, are you?

Not any more than people concerning themselves with a man on the roof. Or the bomb sniffing dogs which apparently is news to people that this is a common thing at events. Or the idea that a middle eastern man running in the opposite direction is evidence of anything.

Also, to answer HawkMan's quesiton, I believe the red outline was to highlight the bench in the before/after shot.

all i see are close up videos of the first bomb with the second in the background. wheres videos of the second? Its kinda pathetic that officials are so desperate for video and pictures, looking at peoples cell phones at the airport...? they probably are clueless.

you fail. key words from Obama are "target civilians". the US isn't targeting civilians. if you believe they are, then put your tin foil hat on.

Obama's latest statement:

I'm quite surprised to see such a statement being made, as by that definition the US drone strikes in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia would also be acts of terror.

No. I stated that securing such a large area would be very difficult due to the amount of foot traffic. Even so, improved security does not have to mean an invasion of civil liberties.

you don't have to be smart to do this. NK is advertising their weapons to the world right now to make some money, thats smarter than whoever did this. NK knows if they did this, US would eventually find out and NK would be no more.

North Korea isn't smart enough to do something like this regardless.

We knew the Boston Marathon would pose a threat, but we didn't know to what extent. I am sure they will figure it out after all this is over.

Its very sad that this **** has to happen in a modern society. Why cant people just get along??? I hate having to look over my shoulder when i go to the city but you have no choice. There are animals out there trying to hurt everyone.

you fail. key words from Obama are "target civilians". the US isn't targeting civilians. if you believe they are, then put your tin foil hat on.

NYTimes: "British and Pakistani journalists said Sunday that the C.I.A.?s drone strikes on suspected militants in Pakistan have repeatedly targeted rescuers who responded to the scene of a strike, as well as mourners at subsequent funerals."

There's no tin foil hat involved. It is well documented that the US is targeting civilians in drone strikes. The horrific injuries and fatalities inflicted by the Boston Marathon Bombing are no different to the drone strikes targeting innocent civilians in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. When you think about how much people in the US despite those responsible for the bombing, that's how much people in those countries hate the US.

It's so depressing. :(

I read the rest of the story. its not really credible:

"The bureau?s findings are based on interviews with witnesses to strikes in Pakistan?s rugged tribal area, where reporting is often dangerous and difficult. American officials have questioned the accuracy of such claims, asserting that accounts might be concocted by militants or falsely confirmed by residents who fear retaliation."

thats still too many civilians dead. you could look at it a couple different ways. terrorists need to die, if civilians have to die then so be it. they hide near civilians cause they are cowards or if theres civilians arounds then call the strike off, but you won't be killing any terrorists.

the statement in your signature is still questionable since the source about attacking rescuers and funerals isn't credible.

That's far from the only source - it was simply the first one to hand. There was a documentary covering it, where drone operators admitted they target vehicles with unknown people inside and monitor the strike site for hours afterwards to determine whether to conduct a secondary strike. The evidence is out there, though I really wish I knew what the documentary I watched was called - it might have been Attack Of The Drones (though it's worth watching regardless). Any way you look at it, the US has killed hundreds of innocent civilians in drone strikes and that dwarves the THREE people killed in the Boston Marathon Bombing.

It's exactly that sort of attitude that's responsible for hatred directed at the US. As I've said many times in various topics, the US wouldn't tolerate Mexico sending drones into the US to take out wanted criminals but that also take out innocent civilians. It's the hypocrisy of the situation that irritates me most.

    • Microsoft releases PowerToys v0.100.1, fixes a bug that made remapped keys misbehave by Ivan Jenic Microsoft just released PowerToys v0.100.1, a patch update that addresses several stability and behavior issues found in v0.100.0. The v0.100.0 patch was a significant update for PowerToys, as it introduced all sorts of new features and additions, such as a rebuilt Shortcut Guide, a Command Palette Extension Gallery, webcam overlay support in ZoomIt, and more. However, the v0.100.0 version also introduced some bugs and stability issues. And now, Microsoft is addressing these issues in the new patch. The most impactful fix in this release perhaps is in Keyboard Manager, where remapped modifier keys were being delivered as system-key events, causing unexpected behavior in apps. The clearest example of this was Alt-to-Backspace remaps, deleting whole words instead of a single character. So, if you thought there was an issue with your keyboard, Microsoft just confirmed that it was PowerToys. Beyond the Keyboard Manager fix, v0.100.1 also addresses several other issues. It fixes a bug with Power Display that was preventing monitors from waking from standby correctly. Additionally, the new update patches Quick Access crashes on launch, and resolves a Shortcut Guide crash that occurred when switching between sidebar sections. Here’s the full changelog: Color Picker Fixed a bug where the main Color Picker window could appear inside the zoomed-in picker view Command Palette Fixed Run history initialization in AOT builds Fixed a bug where the Performance Monitor dock item could show ??? after restart Fixed the Hibernate command using the Sleep icon Limited the "pin to dock" dialog to displays where the dock is enabled Keyboard Manager Fixed modifier keys remapped to non-modifier keys being delivered as system-key events, which caused unexpected behavior in apps such as Alt-to-Backspace deleting whole words Power Display Fixed a bug where selecting On in the monitor power-state control did not wake a monitor from standby Fixed built-in display detection and brightness control on dual-GPU laptops where the internal panel is driven by the discrete GPU PowerToys Run Fixed VS Code Workspaces discovery after VS Code moved recently opened workspace data to shared storage Quick Access Fixed Quick Access flyout crashes caused by unhandled XAML exceptions during launch or page navigation Shortcut Guide Fixed a crash when navigating between Shortcut Guide sidebar sections Fixed number-key rendering in shortcut manifests and added a Postman shortcut manifest Updated bundled shortcut manifests to use the literal number-key token so number keys render correctly across apps ZoomIt Fixed a race condition in audio initialization for ZoomIt video recording You can download PowerToys v0.100.1 from the official GitHub releases page.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
