A committee meeting of planetary minds seeking answers from the U.S. government about extraterrestrial (ET) contact with humans kicked off today at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure (CHD), which is being held from April 29 to May 3, includes more than 40 researchers and military/agency witnesses scheduled to testify for 30 hours over five days before former members of Congress and two experts of counsel.

According to a media release, the international spokesman for the group is Apollo 14 Astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell (Capt. USN/NASA ret.).

?The CHD will attempt to accomplish what the Congress has failed to do for forty-five years,? the release said, ?seek out the facts surrounding the most important issue of this or any other time.

The last time Congress held a hearing on the matter was in 1968, according to CHD?s Stephen Bassett, despite the vast amount of evidence and witnesses that have come forward.

The committee is comprised of two Republicans and four Democrats/Libertarians: former Congresspersons Roscoe G. Bartlett (Rep., MD) & Merrill Cook (Rep., UT), Darlene Hooley (Dem., OR), Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (Dem., MI), Lynn Woolsey (Dem., CA) and Senator Mike Gravel (Dem/Lib, AK).

On November 4, 2011, the White House issued a response to a citizen petition asking the Obama Administration to acknowledge an ET presence on Earth.

?The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race,? wrote Phil Larson for the White House. ?In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public?s eye.?

Stephen Basset, with the group Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, speaks at a press conference at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

CHD responded by claiming that from April 29 to May 3 the group would produce ?en masse? the evidence the White House says doesn?t exist.

?Let?s just get to the point, there are extraterrestrials here. The only thing we haven?t resolved yet is the government telling us that,? Bassett said at a press conference at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

?It?s fascinating to me that over half of the U.S. population believes that ETs and UFOs have been engaging humanity,? said Jeremy Kenyon at the Sundance press conference. ?It?s more than 50%, from all polls you ever get from this. This is something that people don?t readily talk about, but we have these witnesses such as Edgar Mitchell, an astronaut, an American hero, comes out on television and explains his perspective on this issue and it?s not picked up in a greater way.

?That?s mind boggling,? Kenyon added.

The secret is buried so deep that no one will be able to uncover it. Even if aliens were truth, the government would have to deny it. If they ever were to admit it, the entire world would panic.

Seek out the facts by starting with the conclusion that aliens have visited earth, Its logic jim but not as we know it.

Yeah, you can't claim you're seeking the truth if you already think you have it. Seeking truth means believing what the evidence can corroborate, not picking parts and putting them together in order to fit your existing belief.

^ I would not panic.

I have already accepted the truth.

You are not most people. The crazy religious people are the ones who I would expect to pitch the loudest fits. It would ruin their entire outlook on life.

There are certainly aliens, there are certainly aliens that have visited earth, there are certainly aliens watching the earth right now.

Now that you've read that is your first though "he's full of it", "Crazy", "delusional" or is it "really?". I have no proof to back any claims other than my memory for myself. I've seen them, twice. And none of this assures anyone of anything, and neither will anything anyone else has to say.

All evidence will be discredited and you will not know for certain (if you don't already) know that aliens exist in your, your childrens or their childrens lifetime. Humans just aren't ready, our ego's are still too large, we can't accept there is something better, we won't accept it. And it's a shame....

Keep in mind I might have been delusional both times, I have no history of mental illness though and have never seen anything else out of the ordinary. I might have seen a ghost once, but I think that was probably something else, nothing paranormal.

Starts with:

There are certainly aliens, there are certainly aliens that have visited earth, there are certainly aliens watching the earth right now.

Continues on...:

I have no proof to back any claims

Hmm.

Replace the word aliens with Jesus and people would tell you to stop talking to your imaginary friend in the sky. Neowin!

I do not think the world would panic unless the aliens are doing something bad to humans. However, governments and religions would have a problem coming up with excuses and maybe even controlling their people. I don't think it would change anything for humans unless they had an option to leave and left.

If aliens really did exist then why don't we know about it. Either they do not exist, have not visited earth yet, or they are concealing themselves. If they are concealing themselves and are government knows then it makes you wonder if they are collaborating with our governments. If they are collaborating with our governments then it leaves us to wonder why?

One thing is for sure. We cannot get along with ourselves so we probably would not get along with the aliens too. We would get in an argument with the aliens and then get violent because we would believe we are right and they are wrong. lol

Lol, pretty much.

I really don't see why everyone is so obsessed with this topic though. If there are aliens, great, if there are none, whatever. Life still goes on. It makes no difference to me until they start doing something. And as of right now, there isn't any clear evidence of it.

I'm all for finding answers, but they're using the philosophy of most religions and starting the discussion with the conclusion already in mind, instead of going into the discussion willing to learn that you could be either right or wrong.

As was the point I was trying to make. Very good eye, have you thought of doing detective work?

No, but I'd suggest you look into trying to understand basic reasoning, maybe then you can avoid making incomprehensible statements in the future.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
