HTC Desire HD sim locked

Hi

My wife changed mobile company and got a Samsung S3. We now have a HTC Desire HD that we would like to give to my daughter. This is an Orange branded phone. I got hold of the PUK code and entered it in and it was sim free now it's gone backed to being simlocked i think at the moment. The screen is showing No SIM card installed even though it has a simcard installed. Can anyone help please it would be most appreciated.

sounds like someone entered the wrong pin too many times and the sim card is permanently locked. can you try another sim from the same provider as the sim currently in the phone? see if it works. if it does, this should confirm that you need a new sim.

Hi vcfan i only had one chance to enter it and second to comfirm it and that's it.

ok try these couple of things so we can isolate the problem.

1.turn off phone,take out sim then reseat,see if this works,if not,try to add some tape to make the sim card a little bit thicker.sometimes due to bad phone design, the sim might not make good contact to the sim pins. adding some padding will help it make contact with the sim pins.

if not

2.try the sim in a different phone,see if it is recognized

3.try a different sim in your htc desire hd,see if it is recognized

The PUK code is completely unrelated to the SIM lock status of the phone. The PUK is related to the SIM card itself being locked.

You have to get the unlock code from Orange. I think it costs ?20.42 from them off the top of my head. You only get so many attempts so don't try random numbers or the phone will be permanently locked to orange.

does the sim work in another phone? does another sim work in the same phone? let me know.

btw,did this sim ever work in this phone before? as biohead said, the PUK code only unlocks a locked SIM card,it doesn't unlock the phone. you need the phone unlock code to unlock the phone for it to be able to use any sim card.
