Tsk Tsk... Now Optiplex, did I say you could do that? :p hehehe I wanted you guys to wait till the site was up... but if you REALLY want to, you can start discussing it here. But work won't officially start on it till the site is up (and I believe that may be very soon, I got AgEnTsMiTh's bro helpin' me out right now! :D). So I guess just make this site for discussing what updates are out and such. :)

EDIT - I changed the title since this isn't official.... yet. ;)

here's nifty "extra" but small utility we might want to include...the Windows 2000 Registry Repair Tool

This one's not necessary either, but it sure makes for a secure machine...

whats wrong with actually running windows update on a windows 2000 system that just been installed with sp4 :? well hopefully i can test this tomorrow :p

@cpugeniusmv Seems you done very similar thing :) as your list is more or less identical to mine.

@every1 now we have the list it should be easy to keep the latest list in one post which gets edited each update and maybe even a download link for each? this make it very easy or easier for FlishFun and Co when making the program.

yep, had 2000 w/ sp4 on a virtual PC with all updates...just had to fire it up :)

@cpugeniusmv The following update is not needed on windows 2000

August 2003, Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer 5.01 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (822925)

especially if your installing the Internet Explorer 6 SP1 why patch it when your gonna update to a version that you patch with same update lol

EDIT Security Update, February 13, 2002 (MSXML 3.0) Not needed if installing the MSXML 4.0

other than that list seems more or less complete

@every1 if nobody minds i will take all the updates mentioned so far and create a post with all the download links like i mentioned above then it much easier to gather downloads.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
