Downgraded earlier, was doing my head in with constant crashing and being unable to quickly do something as simple as unlock my phone, ill just wait for the official release.

What phone model? Beta 3 on iPhone 5 has been running great. Only have the occasional springboard crashes. Maybe once every 3 days or so

I am really looking forward to the final release and perhaps even breaking my jailbreak and upgrading. It seems it answers lot of gripes of the Jailbreakers with respect to functionality. I like the way Apple is going with gestures.

But, I really really want them to take a deep hard look with respect to colors and UI. It's just not looking cohesive at the moment. I hope they surprise me!

Sidenote:

Default icon-size of iOS - Is it only me or these icons are actually unbelievably huge since they don't necessarily exhibit any kind of detailed functionality. They look bloated and oversized. Is it not something Apple should carefully consider? Scaling down of icon-size a bit? May be it's only me since I use scaled down icons which really come out against the background. I am on jailbroken iOS 6.

Side By Side

<snip>

I find them just right, they're about thumb size...which IMO is just right.

when did beta3 get released?

It hasn't (typo?..), probably be next Monday. (8th July)

I find them just right, they're about thumb size...which IMO is just right.

With all due respect to thumb argument, I have never ever pressed a wrong icon and really they are not that small. High resolution screens of Android phone have such icons all the time. So, although I understand your argument, I fail to see its practicality. And yes, it is in fact right but that doesn't make it optimal.

Stating the obvious is the bugs even at Beta 2. The final touches I am sure i will fix many of the current issues but the colors they have chosen for the flat icons is not impressive. The extra white space that they have now chosen to incorporate into their IOS7 theme along with a thin font makes some areas harder to read.

For Example the Notes. Uses a white background with a yellow highlight. The yellow highlight does not provide enough of a contrast to clearly see the text at first glance.

The music player for Music is not a bad thing and I guess it will change in the future as how many songs it rotates through before it plays the same ones again. Maybe this is a current restriction on how many skips you can have but I am with iTunes Match so it should be as many as I would like or at least 10-20 per day.  Also not a fan of the magenta/reddish buy now text/box.

Although I understand its a Beta 2 the messages after a little use just is a mess for the name of the people you are texting. The text begins to overlap and it just becomes a garbled mess of text and you can't make out the name of the person you are texting.

The recent calls history is too tall and the top of the history sits behind the all/missed calls box. I think this hasn't been adjusted for the iphone 4/4S vs the iPhone 5 screen sizes yet.

The list of incompatible apps is much larger than i expected and the crashes are also abundant. It's expected so I that is why it cannot be my daily driver but a spare iPhone 5 helps the processing of testing. Still like my HTC ONE and can't wait for the HTC ONE WP8 variant. :)

About to order the Lumia 925 but will wait to see what the US Variant will be like. Although most likely I won't use it on TMobile.

Using the Launcher 8 on the HTC ONE makes it realize that an 1080p WP8.1 phone would be great! Especially if they allow for a little customization like the Launcher 8

So Apple too the ideas of some old PalmOS, Android, Cydia Apps and WP flat ideas and made a little better mix of the idea. They have a long way to go to marry those ideas into a more cohesive OS.

Beta 3 coming soon :)

I agree. The phone screen was already hard to see in the sunlight, now it's just impossible because of the poor contrast.

Do Apple tend to listen to developers beyond bug reports? I'm not a dev so don't have access to their portal, but i'm assuming if enough people complain about the poor contrast, hard to read thin fonts and hard to use outside are they likely to listen to this and make some design changes?

My boss consults to the iPhone team regularly and he has already passed on my findings to them.

Since I have a direct ear at Apple's iOS dev team, are there a list of bugs you'd like me to have my boss discuss at Apple?  He has a meeting with them on Wednesday.

iOS 7 on iPad?? Soon?

uhh "officially" iOS7 on iPad in September/October

You can get the beta now though. It was released for iPad 2 weeks ago now. We are on beta 3, but the first beta did not include iPad support

I still have the same issue with multitasking, sometimes when I activate it, I just see a blank wallpaper.

Biggest problem I have with it is the auto rotation is terrible on the iPad. Sometimes it does other times it doesn't and sometimes the status bar will rotate but the icons won't .

Skype still crashes, Im guessing it will be one those apps which will continue to crash until September when iOS7 is closer to public release and they release an update.
Other than that, my only issue now is the auto orientation seems to not work properly on occasion.

One new cool feature is when you have a notification for a specific app, a small blue circle will display infront of the app name to remind you that it needs attention somehow. **** update, its telling you this app has been updated from automatic updates****
Coming along nicely I think. The new larger font will get some getting used it, I honestly preferred it smaller.

    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
    • Watch Louis Rossmann's recent experience on YouTube about trying to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. It's crazy.
    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
    • Gotta' buy that there Rufus guy a beer if I ever meet him. He makes good stuff.
