It continually gives me errors saying due to network limitations, you can't join party chat or another similar error.  bad thing snout it is it'll work sometimes for s few minutes then it craps out.  A lot of my friends are having the same issue as well.  It happened last night when we were playing Titanfall, party chat was working when we were in the lobby, then we started a game, it worked at the beginning, then I noticed I didn't hear anyone talking and saw that party chat got turned off and it wouldn't come back on after that.

weird. Its been working perfectly for myself and all my friends. We have been using it since the March update and its been working great.

Some other things I've noticed:

Kills don't always show up on the score board, especially late in the game (during the escape, I've noticed that my kills or deaths don't always show up).  I just had a match that showed I had 1 kill and 0 deaths but I really had 3 kills and 1 death.

Campaign missions really do seem much more difficult to win vs classic mp matches.  No clue why this is.

Party chat is fubar'd.  I have no idea what Microsoft did but party chat has tons of issues and rarely works correctly.

The AI in the game for grunts and specters is MUCH better than it was in the beta, which makes me think they may have had it turned off or dumbed down greatly.  As embarrassing as it is, I've been killed by specters and grunts more times than I care to admit.

Kills during the epilogue for either side don't go on your KD ratio/tracking, you just get the XP for them. And i agree, the campaign is silly hard and completely redundant. I don't know why they bothered with it, to me it's just gamerscore if i even bother with it. They should have done a bot campaign or a proper campaign, barring that the effort and time could have gone to implementing proper v-sync...

Yeah, minions are mostly tame but if they corner you then you're in trouble hahaha, got kicked to death by an IMC spectre once, wasn't fun!

They were stable for awhile. But the house my friend has here is being foreclosed on, and we have to be out by April 22nd. If I can't move with her when she does, I'll be living on the street quite literally.

Really hurts to hear you say this, and hope you don't actually mean that literally....there's not much i can do to help except hope for the best for you. Will be leaving my job in the summer and after that it's back to uncertainty land, so i hear you and know the feeling. Won't repeat any of the cliches, just keep pluggin away at things for as long as you can, you know how it is by now. Glad we can talk about this openly and publicly, this is the neowin i like.

Supporting anything lower than DX11 is a horrible mistake.

I applaud 64-bit support, but DX9 does not make sense.

If game engines want to appeal to casuals, support Intel GPUs not filth called DirectX 9.

EDIT: You guys mention Crysis. Crysis 3 is a perfect example of what you can achieve when you discard XP users - butter smooth extremely beautiful graphics on budget gaming hardware.

I never said Crysis 3 was a bad game - in fact, I caught flak myself for defending Cervat Yerli's decision to go DX11-only.  My point is that same opinion is not a majority opinion in the slightest.  For every opinion that says "DX11 only" there is at least the same opinion that runs the other way - it's roughly split still, despite how long DX11 has been around.

If anything Crysis 3 and Titanfall represent two approaches to a great game -neither is necessarily bad; they are simply different.

Maybe they left the audio uncompressed as a half hearted attempt to limit piracy. A large D/L will eliminate a large portion of downloaders.

I'm sure one of the 'scenes' will soon come out with a shrunken version, with compressed audio, textures, cutscenes and all the unnecessary language files ripped out weighing around 20GB and it will also run just fine on older PCs. In this game, pirates are always one step ahead and illegal downloaders have it much better than legit buyers.

They do this because they don't have the CPU resources for more. the more sounds you layer together the better and more realistic and immersive it is. and no most games do a lot more than 10 simultaneous sounds.

remember with more layered sounds you can also get more diversity, instead of a single gravel crunch sound that's repeated for every step of every soldier, each step can be a mix of 10 smaller gravel crunch sounds from a library of 100 or more of them. mix the differently and every step you take is unique.

For one example reverb can be anywhere from quick and easy to very intensive, but it rarely goes high end because of the processing involved.  As I've mentioned before, Forza (3?  4?  I'm not sure.) on the X360 was reported to use hundreds just on engine sounds.

Just gunfire from one gun has been said to be anywhere from 7-15 'sounds' on a modern shooter.

I'm not arguing against the fact that there are many different gun sounds or gravel crunches, I'm saying you wouldn't layer them together. You don't take 128 steps in one moment or your gun doesn't fire 128 different round types at once.100's of different sounds may play within close proximity of each other but if you layered so much together the audio would just be confusing.

Say you are right though and the game layers 100's of sounds together, why all of a sudden can't the PC handle compressed audio when games have been using it for years?

For me personally this is a no-issue, I recently picked up a 1TB SSD and I already had a 500GB one from a few years back which is still in the system, I also have a large monthly download limit and the fact that it uses uncompressed audio doesn't faze me at all. But it is a reasonable point to criticize, I just don't understand why people get so defensive over the negative criticism because everything has some flaws.

why all of a sudden can't the PC handle compressed audio when games have been using it for years?

I don't know, you'd have to ask the devs.   All we've got is conjecture at this point.

I have to assume there's a reason xWMA was removed from the most recent XAudio 2 PC stack, but I'm not Microsoft either heh.

Had a chance to play for a few hours at the weekend and loved it. Played the Militia campaign and a load of Attrition. Need to check out a few of the other game modes too.

This game needs a few things though, they need to have an app like the Elite app. Biggest gripe was team balancing, sometimes the teams were massively unbalanced, and again like CoD they need to mix up the teams after rounds to stop this happening to often.

Can't wait to get more hours into this game.

Absolutely love the game, it's cool and addictive. The wall running, jumping into a Titan... it's all fun but I think this game will need some fresh DLC before long.

I didn't like the fact is was a 50GB download but what can you do, I have a 2mbit connection which is the maximum available as I live in the middle of nowhere (we literally have no neighbors for 4 miles). I had to get a friend to download it for me onto a portable HDD and I copied the folder into the Origin directory on my home PC.

I would love to see an app as well, or at least a website, but keep in mind Elite wasn't a success either as it shut down back in Feb.

3. When will Call of Duty? Elite go away?
Call of Duty? Elite will no longer be in service by Friday, February 28, 2014 at approximately 10:00 a.m. (PST).

Don't they have a separate app for Ghosts?

Either I'd settle for a website where you see stats etc. I'm hoping changes are like these are around the corner. :)

Yup, I mean it literally. But don't worry, I'm sure things will be ok, they usually are (well, ok is a subjective term but hey whatever) in the end. As long as I have a place to sleep and eat and shower I'll be alright. Internet is a secondary concern, though  I do like my games :P

And sorry to hear about your summer situation as well. And yeah, talking about it kinda makes me feel better (a small pinch better, but still, anything is good) since I don't have to keep it in. Kinda like a giant mech waiting to stomp on grunts.

Oh man, I gotta stop watching all these Titanfall videos :D

I have had a blast over the weekend on titanfall.  Didn't disappoint one bit.  Like someone else said if i was going to have one complaint it would be the matchmaking putting lopsided matches together.  Its like I lost every damn round in the militia campaign because our highest level was the other teams lowest.  I left and rejoined and ended up on the exact opposite and won 12 games in a row.

Kills during the epilogue for either side don't go on your KD ratio/tracking, you just get the XP for them. And i agree, the campaign is silly hard and completely redundant. I see.  I was wondering what was going on with that.  It seems that it still counts towards my overall KDR though too, just not the score for the round.

Titanfall boosts Xbox One sales by 96 per cent in the UK

Is, predictably, the UK's number one game.

Did you get one of these?

The release of Titanfall boosted Xbox One sales by a whopping 96 per cent in the UK compared to the console's sales the previous week.

Respawn's PC and Xbox One shooter is the UK's best-selling game, as expected, and is the biggest release of 2014 so far with more than double the sales of what had been 2014's current leader, FIFA 14, Chart-Track revealed. The Xbox 360 version releases in a couple of weeks.

The eye-catching ?399 Xbox One Titanfall bundle, which includes a download token of the game, accounted for over 70 per cent of all Xbox One hardware sold last week.

It should be noted that Chart-Track doesn't track digital sales, but the company confirmed to Eurogamer this morning that sales of the download token from the Titanfall hardware bundle are included in its figures.

Meanwhile, Dark Souls 2 is in second place, and sold 20 per cent more copies than Dark Souls during its launch week.

South Park drops to number three, The Lego Movie holds fast at four, Thief is down to five, FIFA 14 is sixth, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is seven, Call of Duty: Ghosts is down two to eight, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is nine and Battlefield 4 is 10.

Yoshi's New Island entered the chart at 12. It's the third biggest week one for a Yoshi game in the UK, behind Yoshi's Island DS and Yoshi's Story 64.

In the long-term, titanfall is going to be very useful for getting the xbox one additional sales.

Titanfall is a brand new IP, so it's going to take a while before more people get to know about the game and how great it really is.

And Halo 2 Anniversary, if it's a reality, will definitely push the x1 even more up.

Liked your post but then realized there's nothing to like about unhappy news

i know this situation for you isn't voluntary, as it involves the person you live with and their own predicament. I am sorry this is happening, i think you've been stable for a couple of years now? That was good to know, and i sincerely hope it will resume as soon as possible. As for gaming, for us it is a necessity, not a luxury. Sure from an existential point of view we can live without it, but we are human. Take away our joys, and we become hollow. Not the Dark Souls variety. I mean really walking shells. No one wants that. So there's no shame in admitting it: the months i spent without being able to game cause i was too poor to afford it were pure misery for many reasons, but the capper was being away from my favorite pastime.

I hope it will not come to that with you, and if it does, then that it's for a very brief period. Titanfall and the whole community and industry are not going anywhere :)

As for me, the summer transition is by choice, i know what i'm heading into and the risks, and willing to accept those for the sake of what's left of my sanity, and there isn't much!

I see.  I was wondering what was going on with that.  It seems that it still counts towards my overall KDR though too, just not the score for the round.

Interesting, didn't realize it goes on our KDR, but they seem to have a different way of calculating it then COD/BF/Halo et al. My KDR is like 2.8 or something, which not even sure what that means. I suck at math, though. However, i am certain the epilogue kills don't go on the scoreboard, was also confused at first and thought it was a glitch.

Smart pistol is too good with enhanced targeting against human players, quite annoying.

The shotgun is basically the spas-12 too from cod. :/

I think it depends on personal's preferences. I've tried smart pistol and the 5-burst rifle. I dislike them somehow and could kill more with my SMG

It's a great experience, so well deserved. Having a great time with it, best MP experience since BF3, which was the best since MW - all my opinion, of course. Could have been better with the visuals, but it is a good example of gameplay negating technicall shortcomings.

Glad it's helping adoption and sales, the X1 is a lovable machine, and more people should get to enjoy what's on offer.

    • I totally disagree. Very little good comes out of governments all around the world manipulating everything they can and usually the people are not the benefactors. What you say about being restricted and expensive sounds almost like the arguments against firearms and why banning them will protect people as if making something illegal somehow will prevent the criminals from having and using them. AI being far less mainstream could simply mean the average person will not benefit, but "big brother" and the corporations will benefit, which is almost for sure NOT a good thing.
