Instead of having it check every day, you could have it check anytime a new game is introduced or new content is installed.

The problem with DRM isn't DRM itself, it's how it's implemented, which is almost always done incorrectly.

I think you might find Darkfiber is a huge MS fan. And FTR, if Sony done DRM like this, it would not be good for me.

Also we do know a little, two people can play the SP portion of a game at once, only one person can play the MP of a game at a time.

So being able to share a game (even if it is sp only) can still be considered a bad thing?  The way people have drawn lines in the sand some people would find a way to complain about the "other" console if it spit out money.  Im not a fan of the used game drm bs but at the same time I dont trade my games in.

Uhm, that is how it has been portrayed. I believe that, after the interviews that has been shown and the wording of the license that yes, you will have 9 other "family" members that can share games in their library. I'm sure it will be a 1 at a time thing but the benefit is still there.

I know that is how it has been portrayed, but for starters, that portrayal of their "official" stance on things has been all over the place at best.

People can think this feature is going to be 10 people sharing 1 gaming license, but I say no way in hell that winds up being the case. None.

Maybe, just maybe, they will do it with XBLA type games, but I even doubt that. Again, it would be the worst business model in the history of consoles and it totally defeats and contradicts all of the other measures they are introducing.

Maybe those 10 people will have timed access to a game? Like an hour demo so to speak. Sure, I could see that being a possibility. But 10 people sharing the same 1 game will never, ever happen. And if by some remote chance it does, it would be terminated shortly thereafter.

And I have the One preordered, I am getting it even if I am not crazy about some of the things they are doing, but I am also a realist.

They've officially confirmed it numerous times and stood up on an E3 stage and said it. Why do you doubt it now?

I love that the people who were hell bent on convincing us that this DRM was evil, and that m$ is treating us like criminals,  are now in denial and disbelief over this whole feature. Its ok, I expect some of you to eventually snap out of it. I mean, who wouldn't enjoy paying a fraction of the cost of the newest and latest games to play them,no matter how anti-m$ you are. Are you seriously telling me you would pay loads more to show your loyalty to a company whos been anything but loyal to their customers in the past? The tides are now turning. Hell im now seeing the funniest stuff. Some commenters on kotaku are now accusing them of being on the Microsoft payroll. Out of all sites.

Why are you trying to convince everyone otherwise when we haven't even seen it in real life, yet?

Not to mention, there is nothing to show that MS isn't changing because of consumer backlash and they figure they should get ahead of the negativity and fix the system.

Realistically, let's just wait and see before deciding anything.

still there if you download the games and hopefully still enables family share. :/

Unfortunately it looks like they're going to remove all sharing now (assuming their updated policies applies to family share):

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

Shame, it sounded like a good idea.

Would you like to provide evidence or links to any of the official statements that contradtict their official statement about 10 family member sharing, anywhere anytime.

Thank you whiners. you ruined an awesome thing.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Looks like the tin foil hat wearing fanboys have ruined it for the rest of us.

Don't blame the people, MS decided to remove(possibly) the feature people liked.

I'm sure it will be reintroduced at some point for your digital downloads, the infrastructure is already there..

people with twitter and reddit accounts strike again.  patting each other on the back saying we won. won what? this is why technology will always be held back. I respect like hell guys like Don Mattrick who will go out and tell it like it is.

And yet you've been saying the opposition was nothing more than a few meaningless internet nerds that would have no impact. Hah, One-Eighty indeed!

 Yeah, real hero.

A more condescending and arrogant man I've never seen allowed to rep. a company.

So now that Xbone has lost its killer feature, you're not going to buy it, right? I mean, you're voting with your wallet, like the guys who skipped it initially after said feature killed their interest.

thing is...it was dumb because a lot of those people who were complaining were PS fans. Yes, there was a portion that was Xbox fans (or both) but it was literally the biggest flamewar of the video game era. They gave in to people that weren't even going to get their console in the first place. They have a tangible way of seeing this...hav the preorders gone up significantly in the past day to warrant the action they took? That's a good measure they can take. We will never know regrettably.

I don't know why people see sharing games as a "killer feature" or "next gen". We can still share games, with far less restrictions, just not as conveniently. This is a huge problem with society today, we are far too willing give up our freedoms, for convenience. It is a slippery ****ing slope.

Digital sharing is/was available on the PS3. It is not "Next Gen".

We have been able to run games from a HDD for years (via hacks, unfortunately). It is not "Next Gen".

Next gen IS about improved graphics, improved AI, improved sound, improved scale, improved immersion. It's about the actual games themselves, not how you acquire them.

In Mircosofts statement, they say they have now given us the best of both worlds. This is obviously not true.

The option to have a free market, and to also share digitally and all the rest of it, would have been the best of both.

By removing digital sharing from the equation entirely, they are removing their ability to tell just how ready the market really is, and what impact it would actually have on used game sales, if people were given the choice between the two, rather than have it rammed down their throats, one way or the other. If it really is the better option for consumers, then the figures would reflect that in time, and the market would regulate itself.

We are not idiots for defending our rights, we totally did the right thing. Microsoft are idiots for making a total mess of it.

The solution is right here. https://www.neowin.net/forum/to...-a-tenuous-glimmer-of-hope/

Fight for it.

    • Windoze 11 could finally go to hell, instead of making me savor yet another error I've never had. "Bad Pool Caller" or whatever TF cryptic crap0la message it is. Adding salt to injury, it says something along these lines (on the blank black screen after it hard stops): "Your windoze needs to restart. You can restart." NO WAY SHERLOCK. The PEECEE, look, it's *blocked*, I can do jack sh1t with it as it is and you say that it needs to restart? Further, that I can restart? What am I supposed to do, take a herbal bath? Sudo a sandwich? Timewaster pile of useless slop and errors, coded by monkeys and force-fed on us by a pedo-founded corporation, that's all there is to it. Now, let's have a fun weekend trying to handle the error, which after a quick internet check can basically be due to EVERYTHING, from memory faults to drivers to motherboard issues. Thanks M$.
    • Zen Browser 1.21.3b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. Compact Mode: Maximizes screen space by minimizing UI elements. Zen Glance: Quick website previews. Split Views: View multiple tabs in the same window. Sidebar: Access bookmarks and tools quickly. Vertical Tabs: Manage tabs vertically. Container Tabs: Separate browsing sessions. Fast Profile Switcher: Switch between profiles easily. Tab Folders: Organize tabs into folders. Customizable UI: Personalize browser interface. Security Features: Inherits Firefox’s robust security. Fast Performance: Lightweight and optimized for speed. Zen Mods Customization: Deep customization with mods. Quick Access: Easy access to favorite websites. Open Source: Built on Mozilla Firefox with community collaboration. Community-Driven: Active development and feedback from users. GitHub Repository: Contribute and review the source code. Zen Browser 1.21.3b changelog: New Features Updated to Firefox 152.0.1 Fixes Fixed transparency not working after updating to 1.21.2b (#14259) Fixed frequent crashes affecting users with Intel Raptor Lake processors Fixed an issue on macOS where choosing a PDF option, such as "Save as PDF", from the system print dialog would send the job to your printer instead of saving a file. • Microsoft, why can't I just turn off Copilot on my MS account (in order to stop OneDrive from wanting to summarize everything, ahem) in a way that doesn't break OneNote instead?
