no wonder I am always freaking out about the cost of printing. 10cents a sheet adds up quickly to hundreds of dollars per small print job if I ever want to send a bunch of stuff out, albeit small legal letters and stuff to people.

then the cost of the ink once it runs out.. yeah.. $30 bucks a refill, which runs out after only a few hundred sheets. woot.

fair cost of ink $5 bucks, for full color cartridge. about the cost of a cheap pen. more pricey premium ink sets, $10. and it better give me 100 high quality photos,

btw, printing text ain't so bad.. but printing pix and high resolution quality photographs en mass, that will set you back. I still haven't done that, but I am guesing it would suck my printer dry doing high resolution photography prints regularly.

the comparison is nothing to do with how much blood costs. it's the fact that.. ink cost more than other things that are actually worth something. ink is more pricey than all the other major liquids out there.

ink is also really cheap to make. there probably isn't anything in ink that costs but I don't know. all those other substances cost quite a bit due to demand, and all the resources they take to extract and create (sometimes the other substances take years to formulate, age, and make; not ink). ink is just made up from nothing and put in a vile.. like sugar water. but it's made of other stuff.. cheap dyes, water, what else I don't know. point is, it's cheap, but cost more than all those other substances.

btw a gallon of quality paint costs about $50-$80 bucks. a gallon of ink might cost over a $1000 dollars.

hey I did the calculation. there is about 3785 ml in a gallon. so it would cost $2649.5 USD if ink costs $.70 per ml.

that's $2649.5 per gallon of ****ing printer ink.

that's more than the price of an ounce of gold or something that is actually worth something. lol

Maybe printer manufacturers have ounces of gold just lying around to prove and justify their extremely high price of ink.

Overpriced ink and dodgy printers which won't allow you to print when the carts are low or if one colour is out. Printer makers are *******s.

Even worse are the printers that when the black cartridge is empty start printing black using all the color cartridges, emptying them in no time. Or those that print black with the color cartridges when you print on both sides (some crappy Canons).

It depends on cartridges that are either just simple ink tanks, or whether they have a print head built into the cartridge.

I own an Epson printer, and they are just ink tanks, so it means I can't recycle them for money, as they are worthless to anyone else, however they are still quite expensive because of being "genuine high quality ink".

Also you need to have a bit of ink still left in the cartridge, because if it dries out completely, then the print head will be clogged and damaged.

Luckily there are people who bulk buy genuine cartridges for printers, then if their printer dies, they sell them on eBay, then I bulk buy them myself, and use them, or do the same should mine die! :D

Cheaper just to buy a new printer more often than not.  Kind of wish I hadn't gotten rid of my dinosaur Okidata line printer for simple stuff that didn't need to be pretty.. that thing would go forever, and cost near nothing to re-ink.

Ironically the printer manufacturers got smarter on that front, the ink cartridges you get with new printers are only about half full.

    • Fire and rehire. Doubt the work contracts are as favourable. Smart tactic using AI to do it legally.
    • > And, of course, it includes in-game purchases. Sigh.. of course it does. I just don't understand why anyone would want to play this on PC, when the far superior AoE 2/DE exists. Just kill this with fire already. Or a trebuchet.
    • Normally you'd just want to use Ventoy, but Rufus is handy when: - Ventoy doesn't work (some BIOSes can be weird) - You're mainly interested in creating a single Windows live USB and not interested in a multi-boot / Linux USBs - You want to automate your Windows installations (Rufus supports creating/injecting an autounattend.xml file which fully automates a Windows install). You can do this with Ventoy as well, but it requires a bit more of an effort. Also worth nothing is that both automatically bypass Windows 11's artificially imposed restrictions (TPM, CPU etc).
