Man of Steel sequel to feature Batman (and others) (2016)

do you know anything about comics? at all?

To be fair...the guy has a point.  One character's story has gone to great lengths to humanise and make him fallable to the point of becoming an anti-hero, whereas one has been made morally superior and a judge to humanity itself, and is, in fact, an Alien, superior in strength and speed to all before him.

Regardless of whether the guy has read the comics or not...they are two VERY different worlds in which they live.....Comics is one thing, but porting thast to the big screen and getting bums on seats to actually invest in the characters would be another.  This is why you see people like Nolan being coveted so much due to the character driven worlds he creates for Comic book heroes (Batman being the his)

FYI Bats and Sups have butted heads many times before, dating back to comics published in the 1940's. It took fighting a common enemy, and a bit of trickery on Bats part, to get them to stop and eventually work together. Trust took longer. I believe MoS2 will tell that story as a prelude to Justice League as it IS necessary for that film to work.

What Simon Pegg and Nick Frost said about Batflect

SIMON - "I couldn't totally see why people are so upset that the tall, handsome, lantern-jawed, talented, dark haired, actor, Ben Affleck is playing Bruce Wayne, I mean WOW, what a 'weird' choice."

NICK - "Is it any weirder than when they casted Michael Keaton?"

Ugh! Dumbest thing I've heard. Not only do these two characters not belong in the same universe, they definitely shouldn't be fighting each other. So many strikes against this film, I'm definitely leaning towards the never watching it column.

Who says they don't belong in the same universe? They have been in the same universe along with many other super-heroes for such a long time now :/ At this point, it's ignorance to say they don't belong in the same universe. Even in the latest "Batman/Superman" comic books you can see that it makes perfect sense to have them in the same universe. They've done a terrific job with putting them both against each other in that book. It even makes sense in Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns". I think you just don't know both characters well enough, at least not as good as the reader of the comics. Batman has many ways to put Superman down.

And Superman is an alien remember? Superman's enemies are often aliens as well. Why can't it be possible that Superman dropped to earth in Batman's world?

I said on Twitter that the mouth part still looked weird. But I must say that it looks better than in The Dark Knight trilogy.

Clark has Lois, makes sense that Bruce should have...someone! Apparently Ben Affleck's Batman will also have a love interest in Zack Snyder's follow up to Man Of Steel, as Latino Review have revealed the following details that have been sent around to various talent agencies. According to the site, "they?re looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities... and are looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality."

You do understand that I am expressing my opinion of a MADE UP character, a fictional character. I'm not arguing whether the sky is blue or grass is green

These movies may have elements of the comic books, but they are not the comic books. Nolan worked very hard to make his vision of Batman as grounded as possible in reality. Superman may have fit in the same universe that Tim Burton created, and extended to Mr. Freeze, but not the universe Nolan created, which is why I bet is one reason why he left the project.

So, I have to ask, because apparently entitled comicbook fans have to give permission to have an opinion: may I perdyplease believe that these characters don't belong in the same universe.

This movie isn't set in Nolan's universe though and the Batman that they're going to have in this film won't be a continuation of Nolan's Batman. I'm sure he didn't left the project because they're not using his version of Batman.

We're discussing things here. If you're going to post something that contradicts the topic, be ready for people to actually disagree with you and that they're actually going to explain WHY they disagree with you.

Of course you can have the opinion you have, I never meant to imply that you didn't. I was just giving my opinion about what you were saying and why it does make sense to have both characters in the same universe.

I guess next they'll make the Bats more compassionate? Maybe even a sense of humor? OMG!

I never said Nolan's Batman & Snyder's Superman were set in the same universe. I don't want them in the same universe.

Nolan didn't want them in the same universe:

"A lot of people have approached Superman in a lot of different ways. I only know the way that has worked for us that?s what I know how to do," Nolan said, emphasizing the idea that Batman exists in a world where he is the only superhero and a similar approach to the Man of Steel would assure the integrity needed for the film. "Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other." My mistake. To me it seemed like you thought they were continuing Nolan's Batman.

While I agree to some extend with Nolan, I also agree that they both can be in each other's universe. Nolan's Batman wouldn't fit in with Snyder's Superman, nor would that Batman fit in with the Justice League. That's one reason why I'm glad that Bale doesn't play the new Batman as well. But I also feel that it is possible for both of them to be in the same universe. It just depends on how both characters are written and setup in that world, imo.

I think until the plot is released all this is futile.

The fact remains however, despite what some are saying here, what happens in a comic is far from acceptable on the big screen, from a revenue and franchise perspective.

Let's take the Walking Dead for example....TV has made slightly more of the characters in order to engage the audience across the type of medium consumption within which they are working.  Comic books work significantly different, and hence, compromises sometimes need to be made.

Nobody wants to see Batman "out fight" Superman surely.  There has to be lore adhered to in order for any sense of story-realism to be, well, realised.

Therefore I still maintain that a few tricks and gadgets aside, the common consensus is surely that the plot will feature major disagreements, and if a fight ensues, it is not as gratuitous as in Comic, so as to adhere to the aforementioned realism.

A few pages ago I played with the idea that they might start with fighting against each other because they don't agree with each other. And then during the movie they're gonna have to fight the same villain to be able to save a city (?). That could be the start of the Justice League right there as well. But all of these ideas just sound way too easy :p

So, I have to ask, because apparently entitled comicbook fans have to give permission to have an opinion: may I perdyplease believe that these characters don't belong in the same universe.

You can, but you really have to better explain such opposition since they are in the same universe and they have met many times over the years.  Even Nolan's claim is weak, probably due more to the 'story impasse on the third Batman film' that did beg, where is Superman?'

Your claim seems more fundamental though, that they simply can't ever meet or even know of each other.

I'm still hoping for the Enemies and Allies approach myself, just them crossing paths here and there.  Which is why I can see Affleck (as Wayne) being onscreen more than the Batman.

So is this definitely superman vs batman?  i mean i love both characters but come on.. superman would destroy batman :p

Batman usually keeps a little kryptonite around with him, just in case. You never know when it might come in useful.

I agree, but this Superman is a lot more human and a lot less indestructible than those who preceded him.  Maybe they thought because he wasn't practically a god anymore that they didn't need kryptonite?  I don't know.  I do agree, obviously, that if they are going to use kryptonite they're going to have to introduce it in the new film.  There were a lot of departures in the last one, though, so I guess we will just have to wait and see how much they have changed things.

He is no more or no less indestructible in this last movie then any other incarnation of Superman. The only difference in this last movie is that his powers are shown as a little more raw and slightly less controlled. In general nothing about his overall power was changed. He still gets his power from the yellow sun and I think it's safe to say the radiation of Kryptonite will still harm him. Superman wouldn't be Superman without it.

Yes, they kept the basics the same, but he got the crap kicked out of him.  A lot.  They also demonstrated that he might possibly be vulnerable from non-kryptonian sources if they can hit him hard enough, and it seemed like he needed to "recharge" his solar energy very frequently to retain his full powers.  Yes, if Kryptonite exists in this new Superman's universe he will obviously be vulnerable to it, but there wasn't so much as a hint of it when Krypton exploded.  They also seem to have removed the "traditional" Kryptonian crystal technology.  I'm not saying there is no Kryptonite.  We just don't know if it will be in there or not, and because they have changed so much we can't simply expect that it will exist because it has in the past.

    • So, recently, I saw on the news (yes, on this website) that Samsung is introducing features where it can provide education using AI-powered sets, and because of this, I got concerned about whether the AI gives out wrong info during education sessions, causing controversies in the process. What are your thoughts on this?
    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended.
