Man of Steel sequel to feature Batman (and others) (2016)

Yes, they kept the basics the same, but he got the crap kicked out of him.  A lot.  They also demonstrated that he might possibly be vulnerable from non-kryptonian sources if they can hit him hard enough, and it seemed like he needed to "recharge" his solar energy very frequently to retain his full powers.  Yes, if Kryptonite exists in this new Superman's universe he will obviously be vulnerable to it, but there wasn't so much as a hint of it when Krypton exploded.  They also seem to have removed the "traditional" Kryptonian crystal technology.  I'm not saying there is no Kryptonite.  We just don't know if it will be in there or not, and because they have changed so much we can't simply expect that it will exist because it has in the past.

He got the crap kicked out of him by other Kryptonians who are his equal in strength and powers. This isn't breaking of any previously set precedent. He didn't come of as weaker then any other Superman story. His powers were just a bit more realistic in how they were portrayed.

He could have died, and himself did kill another Kryptonian.  Yeah, it's more realistic, but with the absence of Kryptonite and charged by the yellow sun both of them should have have been unable to kill the other.

It has to be Salina or Talia, IMO.   If they want to bring in WW though then I could see it, sorta, the Justice League series did play with that idea.   But anyways,  I always liked those two more than any of the others because of how complicated the relationship is and how those two are mostly seen as "bad" but have their good sides etc.  Besides, The Dark Knight Rises didn't do Talia Justice IMO.

The only 'change' I saw was that the effects of our Sun/environment has more effect over time.  So the only reason Zod was killed was because his exposure was of a more limited duration. (Same reason 'exposing' him to his new powers forced his retreat)

I think the kryptonite angle fits perfectly with the Enemies and Allies approach.  Mystery substance Supes is accidentally exposed to, potentially by Batman.

even jennifer garner is a better choice to play batman than ben affleck. geez. what were those hollywood nincompoops thinking.

Really? Please, tell me why Ben Affleck was a bad choice for a movie that you haven't seen yet.

The difference between Zod and Clark is their exposure time to Earth's sun. Zod arrived relatively recently and Clark grew up on Earth. It's logical to assume that he is a little bit stronger and more durable because of his extended exposure to Earth's yellow sun.

You really need a darkness in your character to be a good Batman. Maybe Affleck has this in him somewhere, but he hasn't shown it in any of his previous roles.

Ben Affleck?s Batman will be ?tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile,? according to Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara.

The exec offered the character description Thursday at an investor gathering, officially titled the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference.

Affleck was announced as the studio?s selection for Batman opposite Henry Cavill?s Superman character in the untitled ?Man of Steel? sequel, due out in 2015.

Though the choice of Affleck has troubled some Batman fans, Tsujihara said he was ?perfect? for the film that Zack Snyder is directing. ?We think it?s going to be huge,? he added.

The exec said that the studio ?could not be happier? about the performance of ?Man of Steel,? which has grossed $660 million in worldwide box office. ?We think it?s the perfect springboard for Batman and Superman,? he added,

Tsujihara also indicated that there will be ?a lot of announcements? coming out the DC Comics unit of Warner Bros., noting that the Warner Bros. has three DC-based animated TV shows.

That still means they're taking inspiration from "The Dark Knight Returns", but a few years ahead of that before Bruce retired as Batman. I'm still having hope for this movie and I'm definitely looking forward to it, regardless of all the critique about Affleck.

Also, does that article mean 3 new animated TV-shows?

Please God NO.....unless he's Jason Todd and gets offed.

http://variety.com/2013/film/news/justin-bieber-drives-internet-crazy-with-batman-vs-superman-script-1200611135/

Is Justin Bieber in consideration to play Robin in Zack Snyder?s sequel to ?Man of Steel,? or is he just having a laugh? No one knows for sure, but Batfans were horrified Friday night when Bieber added a photo to his Instagram feed in which he appears to be showing a copy of the Batman vs. Superman script with his name on it. The Instagram was captioned ?#robin ???

>

I will absolutely not go see the movie or buy it on dvd/bluray if Justin Bieber is in it. I will not give any money to that spoiled brat.

It's just a shame that he has millions of fans who would lick his feet after walking through dog ###### if he asked so the movie will still do well if he's in it.

I can't believe people actually fell for that rumor. DC wouldn't have allowed Bieber to be in it. Also, the script isn't done yet so how could he even have the script to begin with. And it's not like Batman NEEDS a Robin in a movie. Also, the photo that Bieber apparently posted on his Instagram was a joke anyways.

It would've been funny if Bieber was Jason Todd and the famous scene between Jason and the Joker was the starting scene of the film.

I believe Snyder and the other people who are working on this film know well enough to never cast Bieber for a role in films such as these. Let alone any film that's meant to get money from fans instead of teenage girls.

The addition of Affleck and Cranston is the only reason I'm actually interested in the film. Man Of Steel was a huge disappointment, especially given Snyder's previous works (I loved Watchmen). There was too much focus on crappy CGI and the pacing was all over the place. In fact the only reason the film wasn't a complete wreck was because of the excellent performances by Russell Crowe and Michael Shannon.

I'm hoping that Affleck is also involved in the direction and production of the film, as Argo?despite its historical inaccuracies?was an excellent film. The idea of Batman being established is a necessary one, as you can't do a Batman origin story in the middle of a Superman film.

That last bit did it for me, haha :p

^ Bieber would make a perfect Robin. :p

In some weird reality I bet that would be true :p

Possible confirmation of the title "Batman vs. Superman", and hints of a major TV / film campaign.

http://superherohype.com/news/articles/179259-wb-ceo-confirms-future-plans-for-dc-comics-based-films

Last week brought some quotes from Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara regarding Ben Affleck's role as Batman in the upcoming Superman/Batman movie. Now more quotes have appeared online from the same event (via ComicBook.com) where Tsujihara confirmed plans for more DC Comic-based movies.

In regard to the 12-14 films WB releases annually, he said this: "I think the basis, foundation of those 12 to 14 pictures are going to be coming from DC Entertainment."

He also seemingly confirmed the title for the upcoming Man of Steel sequel: "We have Batman Vs. Superman coming out in 2015, but there are going to be in the coming months a lot of announcements regarding the future movie, television, games and consumer product pieces that are going to be coming from DC... DC really does touch a lot of parts of our business and is an important part of the strategy in how we are going to grow going forward."

What other DC comics do you want to see Warner Bros. bring to the big screen? Sound off below!

The highly-anticipated Superman/Batman movie is the next comic film on their calendar and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.

I doubt that's the title, I think it's more of a "working title".  They're not going to hide what movie they're working on now, too late anyways, but many movies have fake titles to keep them secret.

    • Google reportedly limited Meta's Gemini access over limited AI compute by Karthik Mudaliar Google is reportedly limiting Meta's use of its Gemini AI models after Meta tried buying more computing capacity than even Google could supply. According to the Financial Times, Google told Meta in March that it could not provide the full Gemini capacity that Meta had requested. This shortfall even disrupted and delayed some of Meta's internal projects. Due to this, Meta even told its employees internally to use AI tokens more efficiently. Meta wasn't the only one to get hit by this sudden refusal by Google; even other customers were affected. But Meta was hit harder because of its unusually high demand for Google's models. The move from Google makes it evident that companies all over are in limited supply of both infrastructure and compute. Alphabet said in April that Google Cloud revenue grew 63% year-over-year to $20 billion in the first quarter, helped by enterprise AI infrastructure and AI solutions. In pursuit of more compute, Meta had earlier signed a multi-billion-dollar AWS agreement as well as a large AMD GPU deal for AI data centers. But the crunch would be short-lived as both Meta and Google have also ramped up infrastructure investments heavily. Meta said in November that it was committing more than $600 billion in the U.S. by 2028 for AI technology, infrastructure, and workforce expansion. In the first quarter of this year, Meta also raised its expected capital expenditure for 2026 to a range of $125 billion to $145 billion, citing higher component pricing and additional data center costs for future capacity. However, this doesn't make the company immune to the current dependence on outside suppliers. Meta has also spent many years promoting Llama as an open-weight alternative to closed models from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic. But if the reported reliance on Google's Gemini models is severe enough for internal work to get impacted, then it looks like even frontier labs and Big Tech aren't fully self-sufficient. • I like to reminisce about the good old days, way back in autumn 2025 when building a gaming machine was fun and the drives were about $150 when you caught a deal. Yes duh, back in the day we had it gone. Then baby Skynet came along, hiding in AI datacenters demanding more processing power until it reached singularity. End of a not totally fictional story.
    • My experience in the past with older Windows 11 builds was not great on unsupported machines but I recently used Rufus to put the latest build on a older 5th Gen Core Thinkpad T that we upgraded with a SATA SSD and 8GB of RAM four years ago when hardware was reasonable and it seemed pretty fast and solid. Customer is very happy with the performance and will probably get four more years out of that venerable laptop that he loves so much. Another customer just retired his Dell Studio laptop from 2009 running Windows 10. It got an SSD over 10 years ago and did everything he needed it to for 17 years but he also retired last year and is happy doing everything on his iPad now.

    • I've been on Deezer for over a decade, but glad that Tidal joined them in fighting AI slop. Can't stand such takes as Spotify's: "Spotify's CEO recently pushed back against listeners who call AI music "slop," urging people to stop using the term and instead embrace the creative potential of AI music."
