Will anybody plz help me in getting the .net framework 3.5 installed in 8.1 rtm leak?

you have to force it to install via the command line. the exact command you need slips my mind though atm sorry

I downloaded the 8.1 Enterprise x64 iso and the upgrade feature worked just fine.  I had all my settings, applications, etc after install.  It took about 20-25 minutes from start to finish.

That being said, it won't activate yet using my Windows 8 Enterprise key.

Same here. Has anyone been able to activate it using an enterprise key (mine is from technet)?

Turn Windows features on / off  didn't work for me, as already suggested, drop to elevated command line and:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782

Or, you can use the Windows installation media as the file source when you enable the .NET Framework 3.5 feature. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012 installation media.
  2. At an elevated command prompt, run the following command:
    Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:<drive>:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess
Note In this command, <drive> is a placeholder for the drive letter for the DVD drive or for the Windows 8 installation media. For example, you run the following command:
    Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

I was able to activate my Windows 8.1, using my Windows 8 Bios KEY.

1) Get your Windows8 OEM/BIOS Key using a program like SIW Pro.

2) Continue to install 8.1 like normal (full format) and when asked for a serial enter one THAT IS NOT AT ALL FLOATING ROUND THE INTERNET. (DO NOT ENTER YOUR OWN)

There are 2 different keys

For Windows 8.1 Core
For Windows 8.1 Professional

Use the one for your Computer which you originally got. So if you had Windows 8, not Pro, select that one.

3) When you reach the desktop you will notice you are not activated this is fine! Right click the start button and choose "Command Prompt (admin)"
4) Enter slmgr.vbs -ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (Replace the Green X's with your RETAIL/OEM Windows 8 key)

5) Restart PC once the box comes up saying "success"
6) Restart PC and done.

Your PC will now be fully activated using your own OEM Key.

Just an update on my Surface Pro. Found out why it wasn't booting off USB, it wasn't a UEFI bootable USB drive. So I installed vanilla Windows 8 back onto it and from there was able to reimage the Surface Pro using my backup :) All is well! my SP recovery partition is screwed however.

Installed Windows 8.1 on my desktop, went without a hitch. It's running beautifully!

Just extract the ISO to the surface pro and run setup.exe from there. No need to boot from a USB drive.

I cant get this string to work, I point it to my external hard drive nothing happens, I point it to my DVD drive and my drive just keeps spinning. and nothing happens. And 2 question...I installed my Win 8 keys and I'm activated, but I still have a water mark. And as you can see in the pic I posted why does it say that my SecureBoot is not configured correctly?

So don't enter a CD key that is not your own and also do not enter your own?

I'd recommend you take the 8.1 ISO file, double click it to mount it, run an elevated command prompt and enter command pointing to mounted ISO drive as it took several minutes for me to complete, will take much longer on an external HDD or DVD drive. "SecureBoot isn't configured correctly" is just as it says, you have to configure Secure boot in your UEFI BIOS. If it's disabled, enable it. If you can't find that option, check for a BIOS update.

Looks like it isn't finding the files? Does it eventually give an error?

So don't enter a CD key that is not your own and also do not enter your own?

The keys floating around do not activate themselves, but allow you to install OK. But you dont enter your own OEM/BIOS key here, as it wont install.

THEN

You follow the rest of the steps, entering your own key in cmd like I said. Win 8.1 will then use your OEM/BIOS Key and be fully activated.

Yes. Did this with my 8.1 preview VM. Worked fine, but only had the option to keep my files. All apps must be reinstalled.

That's fine, I just have to grab my tablets OEM key so I can activate after or did it not ask you for a key at all?

    • Halo: Campaign Evolved is out next month with new prequel missions by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft offered a look at the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved remake at the Xbox Games Showcase today. The Halo Studios-developed title is not only getting a fully remade campaign, but also new content in the form of a fresh story arc featuring Sgt. Johnson. Fans don't have to wait long, either, as Halo: Campaign Evolved is releasing next month. The new content joining the original campaign consists of three new missions that have the name "Operation: METEORITE" attached to the full project. Aside from ground-based combat, space missions are also included here. These prequel missions will take players to events set before the original campaign, where the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson duo team up for a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel. The studio says that the story for these missions was written in collaboration with award-winning sci-fi author Troy Denning. "Operation: METEORITE gives players a chance to expand their experience with new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and new ways to play within the Halo sandbox, all while getting to spend more time with beloved characters and witness a new event that adds to the legacy of their heroic history," adds Halo Studios. Today's new trailer showed off the game in action, including the new missions. Catch it below. Halo Campaign Evolved is coming out on July 28, 2026. It will be available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with a $49.99 price tag. A digital premium edition will also be available for $69.99, offering five days of early access, extra in-game skins, and a digital art collection. A $199.99 physical Collector's Edition is also incoming, bringing a Master Chief statue, a Cortana chip, a Steelbook case, and more.
    • To give context to everybody, I bought about 2 sets of RAM, ddr4, 3200, 64 gb, 2 years ago. It costed me 150 usd for each set. If you buy RAM now you only incentivate companies to sell you expensive stuff, as Nvidia did.
    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely.
