How big is your Steam folder?

Recommended Posts

Right now it is not very large as i have not installed a lot since i moved computers.

Its only 147Gb right now.

According to Steam Gauge;

includes 174 items, is valued at $2136.41, and requires 596.3 GB

However, that clearly does not include DLC for games and some of those are over 2Gb on their own.

That's the cool thing about Steam (and the cloud).  I play something then I uninstall it when I'm done.  The size of my Steam folder fluctuates accordingly.

According to Steam Gauge:

Over the last 10 years, you've spent 1303.1 hours playing this selection, which includes 317 items, is valued at $4050.01, and requires 1082.1 GB

I only keep the games I haven't finished and that don't support steam cloud since most of them take minutes to redownload. Some games require way too many files and it's never wise to keep them all installed: those dozens of millions of files can make an huge difference on all the filesystem operations on your system partition.

I have pretty much everything installed so about 380GB.

2300 hours :|

And that doesn't include some MMOs I've played. I know back in the day I had spent almost a full 365 days of play time in World of Warcraft alone.

You know you're a lost cause when you feel proud of how much you've played games.

A friend of mine has clocked more than 1500 hours in DC Universe Online ALONE. And he only started using Steam a little over a year ago!

I'm not subscribed to WoW anymore to check but I'm pretty sure my played time was around 340 days x 24 hours = over 8000 hours. Albeit some time would be AFK, but still... I think a sane person would be concerned :p

I'm thinking we should have a time played thread as well if one doesn't exist.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
