Nintendo may outsource more HD remakes, says Miyamoto

Nintendo wants to keep its focus on new games, not more HD remakes

Even though The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD tripled sales of the Wii U for September, Nintendo doesn't want to do more HD remakes in-house. According to a report by Polygon, Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto said more remakes are possible, but they would likely come from Nintendo's development partners.

"That's certainly possible, but most of our developers are working on new games," he said. "We like to have them working on new stuff. HD remakes might be a good project for development partners, so that's something I hope we can introduce in the future."

Miyamoto said that Nintendo's upcoming Super Mario 3D World was more indicative of the company's plans: new ideas and old inspiration in a single title.

"If your interest is in finding elements from previous games you'll find them scattered all about," he added. "There is a lot of content like that. We've tried to find some fun new elements that we could incorporate. I certainly wouldn't rule out the possibility of us creating more games like [super Mario Galaxy] in the future. What we're trying to accomplish here is to create a good entry point for new players."

Seems like a no-brainer: people want the remakes and remakes seem to be moving Wii Us. I say get on it, Ninty.

I believe I read the real purpose for creating Zelda WW HD was to help Nintendo devs get a grasp of the new console and an exercise in HD development. I doubt that rumour will ever be confirmed by Nintendo for obvious reasons, but it makes sense. With a catalogue like Nintendo's it would be silly to ignore the potential for HD ports (as much as I dislike the flood of them Sony/MS put out). People seem to lap them up and they're a good filler between AAA releases.

HD remake of Xenoblade Chronicles please.

Probably too new. I love that game but it makes me sad every time I think about what it could have been in at least HD, forget about with even higher resolution graphics.
