compl3x
In a new Iwata Asks feature covering the development of Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U, Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, says that we may see more Mario Galaxy some day. Super Mario 3D World is a 3D Mario game, but it is distinct from the Super Mario Galaxy games that released on the Wii, having more in common with Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS. In the recent Iwata Asks feature, where Nintendo president Satoru Iwata asks the development teams of assorted Nintendo games about production, he asked producer Yoshiaki Koizumi about about Super Mario Galaxy. Koizuma said he had regrets about Galaxy, mainly the game's lack of multiplayer. It's a function Nintendo has wanted to include in 3D Mario, and even experimented with, as far back as Super Mario 64, so the team was excited to be able to build a game around it with Super Mario 3D World. After that discussion, Miyamoto stepped in to assure that more Mario Galaxy may be on the way saying, "Just so there is no misunderstanding, I should point out that this doesn't mean we'll never make another Super Mario Galaxy game." He went on to explain that the Mario team couldn't be split between Mario projects, and that he and Nintendo wouldn't want to create a sub-par Mario Galaxy game by bringing in unfamiliar developers. [source: Iwata Asks, via Siliconera] Our Take As much as I enjoyed Super Mario 3D Land for 3DS, I have to admit I was a little disappointed that the next 3D Mario game would not be a new Super Mario Galaxy or similar game. I am very happy to learn that Nintendo still has plans for Mario games with large expansive levels. Thief000 and The Evil Overlord 2 Share
The Evil Overlord
I'm pretty sure there's a Samsung lawsuit joke here somewhere.......
Blackhearted
While the galaxy games were quite good, i'd really like to see a 3d mario like mario64 or sunshine instead.
LimeMaster
I'm pretty sure there's a Samsung lawsuit joke here somewhere....... Nope as it would be a wasted joke because Super Mario Galaxy came out in 2007 and the first Samsung Galaxy came out in 2009. :p Also, I don't think neither of companies care too much! The Teej
This is fantastic news. I loved the first two so a third would definitely go into my collection! The first two are definitely the best platformers this generation. Max Norris 1 Share

Same -- I don't usually play my daughter's Wii aside from the Zelda games and her kicking my butt in Mario Party, but the Galaxy games were a lot of fun. Hopefully it'll come out for the 3DS though, zero interest in the Wii-U at the moment.. see what happens next year though, that can change. benthebear
Never played Galaxy 2, but the first Mario Galaxy was one of the best looking and funnest games last generation, IMO.
InTheSwiss
I loved the two galaxy games so another would be more than welcome. Not really sure how they can improve on Galaxy 2 though. That game was pretty much perfect. Other than adding Wii U features I can't think of an amazing new feature they could add to make it better. I would love to see a 1080p remaster of the two Galaxy games on Wii U though. That would be so good :D
LimeMaster
Didn't think the Wii U was capable of doing 1080p. Honesty, I think it would be good to see a third game, but then again since 3D World was successful they'll probably focus on that series more as they tend to have different themed Mario games per console. LimeMaster
why wouldn't it ? I don't know, I guess because in recent years Nintendo have fallen behind in the hardware department. :/
InTheSwiss
I don't know, I guess because in recent years Nintendo have fallen behind in the hardware department. :/ Yeah I can understand that. On paper the Wii U has a bit more power than the PS3 and Xbox 360 so it should be able to handle 1080p games, in fact the Wind Waker HD remake is in 1080p and super smooth (30fps I believe and I have never seen it drop). While not a power house it has a good punch to it. I don't think it would be able to handle games such as BF4 at 1080p but I see no reason it can't do Mario games at 1080p :)
