Cover art issue: does it happen randomly or always with the same files?

What do you mean by "  music library was gone"? The settings could indeed be gone, but I'm expecting the library to stay, as it is saved in the same folder as the exe.

Well forget about the cover art issue, there wasn't one, the issue was my own fault.

as for the settings issue of the portable version, what I meant was, after I had extracted the zip file and added my music folder and changed some settings... and then moved the extracted folder to a different hard drive partition...

All settings and music information had been reset as if Musix had just been run for the first time.

Ok, that is strange. I'll do more testing with moving the directory around. Thanks for the info.

For the cover art: could you elaborate anyway? (maybe it is something I can prevent)

Well it was completely my fault, my music folder had some external art in it too and music was showing a cover art that I didn't think I had embedded to the file, but I did, I just didn't remember

So I thought Musix was picking up the external art, but it's not the case.

Nothing to see here... move along...  :shifty:

K I def would download this.... if you add the ability to share music over a network... and does it have an equalizer ? :)   I have problems with itunes because: you have to sign in in order to share over home network with their icloud which is bs ,  and windows media player:  network works but... design is really really bad....so far haven't been able to find a equalizer button when sharing music.  :)  anyway do you think you could add these 2 things? :)  I would promote your program if you would!

You want to be able to save or load Zune playlists? Or both?

Just load them.

Do you still use Zune?

Just wondering if something like this would be the better option in the long run. http://www.tothepc.com/archives/convert-zune-playlist-zpl-to-m3u-pls-format/

Yes I do, I still use my Zune HD as well. The desktop software is far better than that POS called iTunes and those train wrecks called WMP and Xbox Music.

So you're saying that I should use a separate program and convert them?

I think iTune library support would be a better investment of time personally.

I disagree, not everyone uses iTunes and iTunes on Windows is a POS anyway!!!

Just load them: that's pretty easy to do. I'll plan it for one of the next builds

I'm not planning itunes playlists at the moment.

That's not trivial to implement. I'm not saying completely no, but it won't happen soon.

Yep. That way, they can be used anywhere in the future.

Does Zune give you the option to save the playlists in other, more universally accepted formats?

Wow very nice Rapha?l, the portable version works like a charm

- Doesn't create external folders in the user folder any more.  :)

- Dose rememb the music search folder if the folder is moved or renamed  :)

BUT... one small thing.

- Program settings are not preserved if the folder is moved or renamed  :/

but such a great little player, none the less.

Indeed. That's caused by the known issue mentioned above. The settings are still saved in the <user's folder>\Raphael_Godart. This is .NET's default way of saving settings. When you move a program to another directory, .NET creates a new set of settings for for that directory.

I'm working on fixing that, by implementing by own way of saving settings.

Hi everyone!

Long time no news. Just posting to let you know what's happening.

The project is not dead, far from it. After the last build, I've started a big cleanup of the code. The internal design of musiX isn't optimal and makes it very difficult to add new features. So I've started cleaning up and rebuilding... a lot. The GUI of the next musiX will be based on the current musiX, but with better organization of the collection in mind. This should allows better support for big collections and better overall performance. Here's what's planned:

- The current playlists screen will change, maybe a lot

- New screens: list of artists, list of albums,... and later maybe more, from which song can be organized in playlists

- I have an idea in mind which comes from windows phone: a screen with tiles of most played/liked music, maybe pinning of songs or albums (if that's not copying Zune too much). Something very visual, put the cover art in a central position.

- Next to the existing big musiX window, a mini-view will be available which puts the focus on the cover art and provides basic controls

- The now playing screen will get a new, more minimal, look (with full-screen display in mind)

- I'm experimenting with storing the collection to an sqlite database. So there is a big chance this will make it also

- Saving of song rating to the files (disabled by default, but can be enabled as an option)

So, a lot of ideas, but nothing to show yet. That's the bad news: it might take a while before the next build is available. So I hope the current musiX can keep you happy in the meantime. Of course, I'll post updates and teasers of progress, as usual :)

Very selfish request - and it may not even be something that is controlled from your software however...

I have a Logitech G15 with the LCD display, if I play music in Windows Media Player for example, it will bring up the currect track playing and its progress etc. Is this something that is possible from your software level, I certainly can't find any configuration options for the keyboard to allow it to "listen" for other applications, I believe this worked with Winamp when I was using that.

No problem if not, and as I said... pretty selfish as I doubt many people would share this want.

Feature suggestion

Show the album's cover art in the taskbar preview

Challenge accepted!

Wow seems like you could really use resizable panes. They'll come in the next release.

I beleive the app would need to have support for default multi-media key support. this is basically what is required to show on the display

From a quick look on the internet I have found any solution to that yet. I'll see what I can do.

LOL no worries, It seriously is no big deal. There are more important things for you to spend your time on then a feature that would potentially only help one of your users :)

    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. Songs of Conquest is a turn-based 4X strategy game where you'll be managing a kingdom, making tough decisions, and taking down enemy forces in tactical combat. Meanwhile, Rogue Waters is a roguelike where, as a pirate captain, you command a ship and crew through procedurally generated encounters. The double giveaway is coming to an end on June 11. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
