Well I solved some annoyances this week:

- I found a new audio component for FLAC, which means musiX now fully supports FLAC with seeking.

- I've massively improved the spectrum performance. It's now follows the music much more closely.

- musiX now uses wasapi for sound output instead of DirectSound.

Other small things which happened:

- Added loop and shuffle to the notification controls
- Misc. GUI changes
- New icons

I think these improvements alone deserve a new preview. Stay tuned.

After that I really should go back to implementing support for embedded cover art  :)

Not bad although the spectrum animation needs a bit of a look over, it is rather slow, and seems to be slightly out of sync with the audio, another little issue is, say you have a 2/3 or 4 CD set, and you have it set to Album view, it will list the songs in numerical order, so instead of it grouping the songs by album, you end up getting

01. song name - disc 1

01. song name - disc 2

01. song name - disc 3

01. song name - disc 4

02. song name - disc 1

02. song name - disc 2

02. song name - disc 3

02. song name - disc 4

etc etc

Thanks for reporting this! I added the ordering by disc some builds ago and then broke it. I just fixed it for the next build.

The spectrum will be faster in the next build, when using WASAPI as output device.

Superb great works mate!

Easily become my main and best music player, thank you!

Here's my screenshot :

I'm very glad you like it. Thanks for the screenshot! It's always nice to see musiX in action somewhere else :)

Embedded album art is now supported in musiX (only displaying of art, not yet adding or editing art). Once I stabilize what I've added this week, I can release a new build. Here is another teaser:

Have you considered maybe adding a volume control display/control built into the notification? I'm not sure if it would add too much and loose some of the beautiful simplicity but its worth considering, I made a very crude edit in paint to try and show you what I mean;

I think the black is a little too harsh but I'm sure you could tie the theme in somehow if you think it works.

That is definitely possible and easy to add. So I'll add it :) The notifications were already going the way of some screenshot someone posted here some time ago. And on that screenshot there was a volume control.

Hi everyone. Version 1.0 Build 290 is available. This is the changelog:

  • Added loop, shuffle and a volume slider to the notification controls
  • Added embedded album art support
  • Added new icons for file associations
  • Replaced the FLAC library. FLAC is now fully supported, including seek
  • Changed to WASAPI output and added options to change the output latency (this affects responsiveness of the spectrum analyzer)

I can't be 100% sure if this occured previously or during this upgrade however there seems to be an issue with my collection in that its cutting songs short;

Collection.png

As you can see the song playing is shown as having 1:08 length but in the playlist it shows 3:50. The file properties also shows 3:50 and in WMP it will play for the correct length. There seem to be a lot of tracks that are all like this, but not all of them

Always takes me a while to find this lol

Do you not have the update notification turned on? I just click the link in the app and it takes me straight to the download. I tend to find out through here first but its handy as I can know whether there is an update or not without checking the thread/blog.

With the new build I'm having an issue where even though it detects a song is say 3:42 it only plays like 39 seconds of it and then goes on to the next track.  Is there some new preview song setting I'm missing?  The files are AAC/M4A.post-1972-0-27234100-1405939952.jpg

Let me know if there is any logs/info you need from me

Thanks. Not needed for now. There was a bug in the new audio component I'm using for mp3, m4a and flac. I contacted the developer and he already fixed it (his response time is unbelievable). The fixed component is already in musiX and I'm testing. It indeed seems fixed. I'm doing some more testing and if all goes as planned, a new build will be available tonight.

    • OpenAI is now rolling out Lockdown Mode to more ChatGPT users by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in February, OpenAI first announced Lockdown Mode for users who want the most comprehensive protection from potential attacks. At the time of the announcement, the company mentioned that this feature was available to a small set of highly security-conscious users, including executives or security teams at leading organizations. Today, OpenAI announced that Lockdown Mode is now rolling out to all personal ChatGPT accounts, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, and also self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. Users can enable the feature from ChatGPT Settings > Security when it is available for their account. When Lockdown Mode is enabled, ChatGPT limits or disables several features that connect to the web or external services. These include live web browsing, Deep Research, Agent Mode, and more. Here is the complete list of services that will be disabled in Lockdown Mode: Live web browsing: Web browsing is limited to accessing only cached content. Search results may be limited, unavailable, or stale. Image support: ChatGPT may not display images in regular responses or retrieve images from the web. Users can still upload image files, and image generation remains available where it is otherwise available. Deep research: Deep research is disabled. Agent mode: Agent mode is disabled. Canvas networking: Users cannot approve Canvas-generated code to access the network. File downloads: ChatGPT cannot download files for data analysis. ChatGPT can still operate on your manually uploaded files. It is important to note that Lockdown Mode does not completely block prompt injections from appearing in content that ChatGPT processes. For example, a malicious instruction could still be present in an uploaded file or cached web content. However, the mode is designed to reduce the ways such an attack could send sensitive information outside the conversation. Along with Lockdown Mode, OpenAI today also announced that the Active sessions feature is now available across ChatGPT accounts and workspace types. This feature allows users to review where their account is signed in across devices and end sessions if required. A session will have the following information displayed: Device or browser information. First-party app context, such as ChatGPT, Codex, or API Platform. Approximate location. Sign-in date and time. Whether the device is a trusted device. Whether it is your current session. OpenAI highlighted that the Active sessions feature will not be available for accounts linked to an organization’s single sign-on setup, including SAML or OIDC.
