OneDrive / Office Online / Outlook.com - Thread

So I now see OneDrive's branding in the Office Online (App's Titlebar) If I'm not mistaken, they originally said "Skydrive" Right?

Do You Guys See it Too?:

Do you think it is a possibility Microsoft read Neowin and that is how they came up with OneDrive? https://www.neowin.net/news/no-skydrive-will-not-be-rebranded-as-new-drive

You never know that Microsoft visit this site

Just got 20GB free!

I signed my self up to hear when one drive was available a couple of weeks ago and just got this email! 20GB for a year, not bad... not bad at all!

Honestly, why does Microsoft keep renaming these things? I'd imagine if you sat down an average consumer and asked them to pin down the name of MS services it would be a lot like playing whack-a-mole. They change far too much far too fast name wise.

This time for legal reasons BSkyB wanted the name they don't want anyone else to use the Sky

as what anothercookie said..

if you have products and you do not want the name changes, make sure you use your own brand, not use brand from others...  which is why this causes confusion to the users and you may get the lawsuits.

Seems to me that almost everything are not original these days.    For example, Sky TV, SkyDrive,  almost everyone use 'Sky' in their brand.

Doesn't Microsoft have a legal department? Shouldn't they sort these issues out before they publicly launch these products?

I just don't see how they hope to make it in the consumer space with the constant name changing. Brands take time to build... You can't be restarting that process all the time.

I have logged in a few times today, didn't get any extra space. I tried again as soon as I saw Ian's post, literally about 1 minute after the last time I tried, and BAM! 100GB free. lol

That's because the offer only came into effect at 11:11am PST.  Users gained the extra space only if they logged in starting then.

EDIT:

It still says SkyDrive if you check the drop down menu from Outlook, People, or Calender.  That will change soon I'm sure.

I just got an email offering 20GB for one year also an additional code to give to someone else. If you use both codes you get 20GB for two years instead of 40GB for one year.

Has anyone been able to get the 3GB camera roll bonus? I enabled the feature and uploaded some photos but haven't received it. Do I need to upload a certain quantity of photos or something?

I got it, not sure what I did though.

But nothing from one drive promo, still only 268 gb

I have 2 Windows Phone's (the 20 GB Enthusiast Bonus) + 25 GB grandfathered in + 100GB OneDrive Bonus + Camera Roll Bonus + Referral Bonus (just got that)

I know there was a 3GB Outlook.com beta bonus.

They just agreed to the terms, because they wanted to make a deal with Sky for Xbox One, so they didn't want to fight them in court.

I never got the Window Phone bonus thing, even though I am signed in.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
