Thanks a lot for posting this, downloaded it, cool playing it again. Can't believe it's been six years almost. Damn time passing is a sad thing

Still looks good, though definitely much clunkier than DS3, especially. Isaac is such a badass in DS3, they did a good job in showing how he transformed from mechanic dude to slay fifty monsters an hour dude.

Download Free AAA Computer Games From EA Origin's "On The House"

Windows: Electronic Arts has launched a new initiative called "On The House" which lets you download full-version PC games for free.

As far as we can tell, there is no catch here. All you need is an EA Origin account and the software installed on your Windows computer (okay, for some, that is the catch). Every month, EA will be giving away a new game to download to your hard drive for free, and the first one on offer is Dead Space, which expires on May 8.

There are some great resources for PC games and websites to get fantastic deals, but nothing beats free, right?

Am I the only one that liked DS2 more than the first?

Nope.  The first was very...singular in environments from beginning to end for obvious reasons.  2 had a lot more to it.

I haven't finished 3 yet...not as fond of it but don't hate it.  I'll go back to it eventually.

Okay - On the House swapped out the original Dead Space for Plants vs. Zombies (not the reboot, which launches next month, but the Game of the Year Edition).  Kinda sensible, since the reboot (PC) does launch next month.  Juust ad it to your account, and it's yours for keeps.

Title changed

Think we'll just keep this topic running for the promotion instead of new posts for 1 game per month.

My idea as well, Andrew G - which is why I posted the changeover in this thread.

Besides, I like (and use) both Steam AND Origin.

I think mom might like this, heh.

Gotta be better than Candy Crush Saga

And the requirements are in line with other PopCap games of the period - shockingly light (about the same as Candy Crush Saga, to be honest).

Consider the other PopCap titles of the period (the original Bejeweled, Zuma Deluxe, etc.); while they all started on Windows, all have made the trip to mobile unchanged (that includes PvZ, by the way).

Garden Warfare (though a port) is the first PopCap title for Windows since Bejeweled 3.

I don't care about requirements, her box is a Llano it's more than capable of any casual games heh.

I actually might get her some of the Peggle games and such for her bday.

TheExperiment - that is precisely the point. If you have as little as HD3xxx (below Llano-class graphics by quite a bit) NO PopCap game of that period, and very few later PC titles from PopCap - will slow down whatever.  My GTX550Ti - four years dead - is decided overkill, as is any other GPU of the period, let alone anything newer..

Am I the only one that liked DS2 more than the first?

You're not, actually am one of those who thought the series got incrementally better and that DS3 was the most well-rounded of the three. DS2 was great once you figured out the last ten minutes...as in what you were supposed to do. Hope EA decide to make it freeware as well so people who enjoyed Dead Space free can also get DS2 (and DS3 eventually) free and legitimately if they can't afford to purchase them.

As for Plants vs. Zombies, nice touch but not for me. I am liking this free stuff from EA. Looks like the Sony Instant Game Collection effect is working.

Yes you read that title right: Battlefield 3 is currently free on Origin

I do not know how long this offer will last, but it seems as long as you click the Get It Now button while logged into your Origin account it will be added to your account (I didn't have Origin installed, after installing it was already in my game list).

I guess BF3 is replacing PvZ in June?

My bad, didn't notice a thread for this.....though you may want to update the original post and provide this link: https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/free-games/on-the-house

So anyone coming in later without reading the latest posts will have a link to the on-the-house promotion page.

    • Google are hyprocrites for signing this. They have been pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft, only they do it on Android and ChromeOS.
    • In some countries the law has forced Microsoft to display a menu on a fresh install of Windows which asks which web browser you want and it will install that browser. This doesn't add any bloat to Windows. It simply an additional step when setting up a new PC.
    • Chrome is also a first party browser on Android and ChromeOS. And on those systems, Google is pulling the same dirty tactics as Microsoft does on Windows.
    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
    • The "Classic" Outlook has done that for a few years as well. The option to even change that is really hidden away too... It really shouldn't be hard to respect user defaults. Sadly we are the product now, not Outlook. To change in the Classic Outlook: File > Options > Advanced > change "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in"
