So, what do you guys think of the 'new rules'? Honestly, I don't like any of 'em.

i like that goalies cant play the puck behind the net. but whether you like the rules or not, this could be a big step towards a labor agreement. a 2005 nhl season with a few rules you dont like is better than no season at all.

i agree. i just hope they can reach an agreement. :(

The rule changes suck! Goalie should be fair game outside the net. If they dare let them do it. The tag up will help a bit but whatever no biggie. Goalie pads, won't do much as it won't affect the truly great goalies out there. The goal line is dump. Why the hell did we move it in the first place? As for this helping the CBA, :p darn yanks know nothing. The main agrument with the CBA is over money not rules. The league wants a cap where the players want a free market. What will probably end up happening is like the MLB where if you go over a team cap that you pay a fine to the less teams.

Now here's something I bet most of you don't know about. Next year in the AHL (American Hockey League), three new rules are being tested.

1) 3 points for a regulation win. This would push teams even more to score in the last few minutes of the 3rd.

2) 2 points for an overtime win. Thus making it not as significant as a regulation win but still worthwhile.

3) Probably going to be your fav. In the regular season in the event of a tie after ot then there will be a shootout.

These are the changes that if implemented would change the very foundation of the game. Personally I hate them all but what do you guys say?

i think it sucks too. why shouldn't the goalies be able to play the puck? you can pull the goalie for another skater, the goalie should be the same as everyone else. it forces goalies to have good stickhandline skills, which is good. the other rule changes aren't that big a deal. but this one really bothers me.

ok fine, you say goalies are the same as anyone else. then dont protect them when they are outside the crease. they should be fair game if you want to use that logic.

I say let the goalie play the puck, but he is fair game outside his crease. Moving the lines back I'm not so hot on. It sounds like they would force the forecheck though. I don't think eleminating offsides would do anything good. Maybe changing it a bit like they suggested where you can tag up and dump it right back in. Keep the fights. Keep all the refs.

Bottomline:

Just don't take away my hockey next year.

Goalies will never be fair play. First of all there are too few of them and the nhl can't afford to lose them due to injury. Second with all the bulky equipment they were to take shots they are in no position to get out of the way of or even prepare themselves to take a hit. Every time someone hit a goalie in the start there would be major bench clearing brawls, that which the NHL doesn't want. It won't happen but the thrill of a goalie playing the puck and the chance of them blundering is what makes the play exciting. The NHL wants to speed up the game and the goalies playing the puck does this. The NHL is taking a step in the wrong direction with this rule and the board of governers needs to stick their necks out on this one and reject it.

The goalies are fair game as soon as they step out of the crease, but if they are in it, you have to leave them alone. It is just that players know, it is an unwritten rule. You simply do not touch a goalie unless you enjoy getting your ass kicked. From experience, if you ever touched my goalie in any way, accident or not, I was going after you. He is the last line of defense and was your eyes when your back is turned, the most important player on the ice at all times. Stopping them from playing the puck is stupid, not only will the goalies complain but so will the defensemen. Imagine Todd Bertuzzi streaming down on you when you chase a puck along the back boards, you have to slow down to play the puck and turn. He will be in perfect position to dismember you, so unless the NHL wants more concussions and injuries...

And no shootouts. The most heartbreaking loss of my loss came on a shootout. We were a 10x better team, but our real goalie got hurt so one of our forwards suited up. He couldn't stop a damn thing. We scored on all 5 of our attempts except one, which I missed, they scored all 5. If we had a chance to play a sudden death overtime, we would have scored in the first 30 seconds. Instead, they won, now I have a runners-up trophy for the 2000 NARCh season. Shootouts suck, keep that stuff for penalty shots.

Umm... n00b/yankee statement. Goalies are not fair game. If you touch them outside the crease it's 2 for goalie interference. :p Sorry dude but you're mistaken.

Look up your rules, they are. I have played for 10 years and refferee every weekend. The only penalty you get is your ass taxed by his teammates. If you impeed the goalie from making a save from contact or trip him with a skate that is interferance. It's why you see when goalies play the puck and opponents try to avoid him but knock off the helmet or whatever or collide at all, no penalty is assesed. Same with when a goalie rushes out to beat a player on a breakaway. Goaltenders are responsible for there own health after leaving the crease. They are treated as skaters once they leave the crease, elbows, cross-cecks and the like are the reasons players get penalties.

(NOTE) A goalkeeper is NOT "fair game" just because he is outside the goal crease area. A penalty for interference or charging (minor or major and a game misconduct) should be called in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper.

I'll let some else add the 0wned tag...

    • FotoSketcher Studio 4.30 by Razvan Serea FotoSketcher Studio is a free creative tool that instantly turns your photos into artwork. With just a few clicks, you can apply styles like pencil sketches, watercolor, oil painting, ink drawings, cartoons, and abstract effects. Powerful yet simple sliders let you adjust every detail to match your vision, from subtle enhancements to bold artistic transformations. You can also improve your images with tools for contrast, sharpness, color, and brightness, plus add frames and text. It supports JPEG, PNG (including transparency), BMP, and WebP formats for both opening and exporting. Available for Windows (64-bit) and macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), FotoSketcher also offers batch processing, manual retouching, and custom effects for advanced users. Completely free, including commercial use, with no ads or spyware. FotoSketcher Studio 4.30 changelog: New LUTs effect In the Photo Lab category you will find a new LUTs (Lookup Tables) effect for custom colour grading. It comes with 18 presets built right into the application (Cinematic, Kodachrome, Golden hour, Portrait and more), each with a live preview so you can see the look before applying it. Right-click the preview to compare with your original image. And if you have your own .cube files, you can load those from disk too. New "Stylize" category Added a brand-new Stylize category with four new effects. Three of them (Mosaic, Circles and Triangles) are built on the same space-filling idea, turning your photo into tiled mosaics, clusters of circles, or a low-poly triangle look. The fourth, Cartoon, is a bit different: it gives a clean graphic style with defined lines and solid colours. A little tip - set the colour intensity to 0 and Cartoon draws a pure outline drawing with no fill. Combined with the "Do not erase background" option, you can run it on top of any other effect to add crisp contours in two quick steps. Auto-Enhance and Full Reset Two small but handy additions. Auto-Enhance (just press E) tries to optimise your source photo - exposure, white balance, local contrast - for a 'dehazed', natural-looking starting point. And Full Reset clears everything back to a clean slate in one step (working image, history, LUT, script, brushes and sliders) without having to close and reopen the program. Press Ctrl+Shift+N, or right-click the exit button. Scripts The script engine has been updated to support all the new effects, with a few new commands and improved help. If you would like some inspiration, the recent scripting tutorial on this blog walks through several ready-made example scripts. The usual improvements The interface now uses new colour accents for better readability, the history gallery has had a few tweaks, and you can now open .webp images directly. On top of that, this release includes some performance improvements and a good number of bug fixes.
