?Batman v Superman? Director Zack Snyder Defends Aquaman on Detroit Radio

You guys were disparaging, a little bit, Aquaman?I don?t want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like, ?Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?? The cool thing with Aquaman is his Trident. So you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. That?s a thing that?s in the canon. He?s super strong cause of course he can exist at these super deep depths so when he comes up here he?s crazy strong. Anyway, not to say he?s in my movie or anything like that but he has the potential to be bad ass, that?s all I?m saying.

He's made a valid point, haters gonna hate.

Michael Uslan Reveals Bruce Wayne's Age In The Movie

Michael Uslan served as an executive producer on Tim Burton's Batman and then each of the subsequent movies right through to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. Hhe will return in that role for 2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and spoke to app.com recently about the reaction to Ben Affleck being case as the Caped Crusader. "We?ve been through this I don?t know how many times already. Every time a director makes a creative, out-of-the-box-thinking decision on casting, it tends to get this. I remember even the ?Iron Man? (2008) guys got it on Robert Downey Jr. initially. Of course, we got it intensely when another genius, Chris Nolan, chose Heath Ledger to play the Joker (in 2008?s ?The Dark Knight?). And it was a huge outcry: ?How can a guy who just played a gay cowboy (in 2005?s ?Brokeback Mountain?) play the Joker? You?re going to destroy the greatest villain ever, this is going to be a laugh.? ?So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he?s going to be extraordinary."

Yeah, hold on, I don't quite get the thinking here.  If Bruce/Batman is in this "mid-40s" and this is suppose to be a setup for a JL movie and a bunch of other movies, how in gods name does that work out at all?  50 yo batman in the JL movie?  No way!  I question this thinking, 35 or so would be fine, tops but 45?  I don't know about this plan.

yea because an old batman would skew the realism of the universe altogether.

There have been several recent attempted calculations of Batman's age in The New 52 series and they all run into problems related to the ages of the various Robins, Damian Wayne, Flashpoint and other factors.

What most all agree on is that in this current contrinity Batman/Bruce is between 40 and 48 years old.

I'd agree with that if the movie universe had a Nightwing, because that gives us a good reference, but I don't know if they do/will, in which case, if you're going to plan to make more Batman movies following this one and in this new movie universe, I just feel he should be under 40 to start and then have him get older in the movies as they progress.

There are several reports that Scoot McNairy will play Nightwing. Latino Review reported the part had been cast at about the same time he signed on.

McNairy is 32, about 13 years younger than the average of the age range Bats is supposed to be in the comics. If Bats was 25 when he took Dick in at 12 it would fit.

Then ok, it could work out fine then if indeed there is going to be a nightwing in this movie universe.  Nightwing movie spin-off in 2018??!?!?

And later still a film with Terry McGinnis?

I'd love to see a Batman Beyond film, especially an adaptation of Return of the Joker. I'd be in fanboy heaven.

If a Nightwing spin-off movie does well then that gives WB more confidence to try a Batman Beyond movie IMO.  I think those two characters are pretty close actually.

JASON MOMOA JOINS "BATMAN V SUPERMAN" AS AQUAMAN

After months of speculation and rumors, Variety reports that "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa has been cast as Aquaman in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Long rumored to be in talks to play the King of the Seven Seas, Momoa's casting as Aquaman marks the announcement of the first member of the Justice League in the DC Cinematic Universe since Gal Gadot was confirmed as Wonder Woman in December 2013.

Momoa is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in "Game of Thrones," as well as his work in the starring role of 2011's "Conan the Barbarian." He was also one of the main contenders for the role of Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy," a role that eventually went to Dave Bautista. Rumors of Momoa's involvement in "Batman V Superman" began in December 2013, when it was reported he was in talks to join the film's cast.

While there was no confirmation until today that Aquaman would appear in the upcoming film, Zack Snyder recently called in to a Detroit radio show to defend Aquaman after the character came under fire by two morning show hosts.

"The cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident -- people don't realize this -- that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact,? Snyder said during the radio show. "That's a thing that's in the canon. And he's super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it's like he's crazy strong. ? Not to say he's in my movie, or anything like that, he's just pretty badass -- he has the potential to be badass. That's all I'm saying."

Opening March 25, 2016, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and more.

Could they use this as the setup for the JL movie?  Atlantis attacking brings the JL together?  Or is it just a cameo so they can do a Aquaman movie next year and work him into the second JL movie which I'm pretty sure they're going to want to do, because why stop at one right?  :P

I think it's safe to say that this is a Justice League movie given the numerous characters involved, the name itself being Dawn of Justice, and it's not a Man of Steel sequel.

This film is the film that ties into the Justice League. It isn't a Justice League film on it's own though because most of the JL members in this film have cameo roles, like Cyborg etc. The Man of Steel sequel is slated for a different year.

If you look closely, you'll see that that's Scoot McNairy who's sitting there. He's rumoured (but a high possibility) to be Nightwing in this film.

I think a more apt description would be Justice League prequel, which would still make this a Justice League movie. The only other description would be a generic DC Comics movie, but that just sounds lame. :P

You can think of it like a JL setup/primer movie but it's still going to be heavy with superman and batman and then everyone else.  It's still up in the air just how much screen time WW will even have, and remember that the rumors say in the movie she won't even be called WW yet iirc.

For a proper JL movie of some type then the screen time has to be pretty much even between Superman, Batman, WW, GL, Flash and Cyborg etc.   If most of those other characters see a few seconds at best then I don't count it.

Well, that is exactly what it is, a prequel to the Justice League film. But calling it a Justice League film is kinda misdirecting because the Justice League isn't in it nor is it formed yet. And most of it's members are only cameo roles in this film.

Superman and Batman are of course the main characters. Then you get the prominent characters from both of their worlds (Alfred, Lois, Lex, etc.) who will all have a significant role in this film as far as I can tell. Then you get Wonder Woman and Aquaman, who'll have a significant role in this films as well. And after that you get the other members, Cyborg etc, who'll only have cameo roles in this film.

So imo it pretty much is a film about Batman and Superman in DC's Cinematic Universe, before they're forming the Justice League. The title of the film also tells us that it's a prequel to the Justice League film, like you said, and not actually a Justice League film.

Everyone is free to have their own interpretation of course, but calling it a Justice League film is misdirecting imo :p

    • You've tried DuckDuckGo and Brave Search, now get serious with SearXNG by Paul Hill Over the last decade, it has become quite trendy to dump Google Search in favor of privacy-preserving alternatives such as DuckDuckGo, Startpage, and Brave Search. These search engines have done a very good job at highlighting dodgy practices by Google, such as adjusting search results based on what it thinks you’ll like (filter bubble) and stalking you around the web to advertise to you. While these search engines are good starting points when compared to non-private services like Google, there are still quite a few issues with them. For example, both DuckDuckGo and Brave Search require running non-free JavaScript in your web browser, which is comparable to running proprietary software on your computer, meaning you can be sure about what it’s actually doing in the background. Another issue is that these search engines are hosted on the respective companies’ servers, and you are using a service that you don’t control. Finally, DuckDuckGo, while offering privacy features, relies heavily on Microsoft’s infrastructure for its results and, in the past, has permitted Microsoft tracking scripts. If you are looking for a more private search solution than DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, and Startpage, then I recommend taking a look at SearXNG. It is a privacy-respecting metasearch engine that can be used via different public instances, which is useful for mobile users, or you can install it on your computer or server and run it locally with maximum control. Unlike Google, Bing, or Brave Search, which crawl the web and have their own search indexes, SearXNG is a metasearch engine, meaning it taps other search engines, stripping your identifying data, such as IP address, user agent, and cookies, in the process. Your search query is sent to the other search engines you enable before aggregating the results. SearXNG has deployment flexibility. If you are a casual user or a mobile user and don’t want to run SearXNG locally, you can use a public instance that is hosted by someone else. The main problem with this is that you are putting trust in the maintainer of the instance regarding stuff like logs that they may keep; good hosts should have a privacy policy explaining their policies. If you are trying to use SearXNG, you can also install the software on your device and then head to 127.0.0.1:8080 in your browser and search from there. While you don’t have to worry about a third-party admin like the public instances, search engines could ultimately block your IP address if they frown on you pulling in their search results locally. If you want to run it locally, it’s a good idea to use proxies or VPNs to hide your actual IP. You don’t have to worry about this with a public instance, as search engines never see your IP address. The main privacy benefit of using SearXNG is that it isolates your identity from the underlying engines that it’s capable of searching, such as Google and Bing. These search engines will only see requests coming from a generic server, so they can’t profile you and create a bubble filter that influences what results you see. This also ensures that your search engine doesn’t turn into an echo chamber that prevents you from reading alternative points of view. As a free software project, you are allowed to inspect SearXNG to make sure there are no negative features bundled inside. This sets it apart from the privacy search engines mentioned earlier because you can’t check their source code. As a meta search engine, you are not restricted to getting results from one source. Due to the fact that it scrapes content from other websites, your SearXNG instance will periodically get blocked from different providers, so it’s good to select a range of sources as a backup. While enabling all of the services will give you great results, this can make searching slower. I am personally happy with slower searches for the best results, but you can always check which providers are slowing down your search from the search results page and disable them to speed things up. If you want decent results quickly, enable the main search providers such as Google, Brave, DuckDuckGo, Qwant, Bing, and Yahoo. This way, you get wide coverage without the latency. On the Engines tab in Preferences, do note that there are different tabs, such as General, Images, and Videos, with their own providers that can be toggled and are not covered by "Enable all" while on the General tab, so be sure to dig into each. Just a note, if you want to enable everything, press "Enable all" in one tab, then hit save at the bottom of the page, then do the next tab, and so on. If you press "Enable all", then do that in each tab, and then save, nothing will stick. When I had just some of the search engines enabled, I searched “define nefarious” and results came back with the definition of “define” - obviously that was a sucky result. However, when I had everything enabled, it found dictionary pages for the word “nefarious” and even had an inline definition on the sidebar, which is quite nice too - that was delivered by WolframAlpha for anyone wondering! Probably the worst thing about this meta search engine is that the engines you select are saved with a cookie, so you must enable them on every new device you use SearXNG on, including if you decide to go into incognito mode with your web browser. Honestly, I would say this is the most annoying aspect, and perhaps if your browser lets you choose a separate private browsing search engine, then it would be best to use DuckDuckGo for this portion of your browsing. Another weakness of SearXNG is the random blocking of it by search providers. When you are on the results page, expand the “Response time” box, and it will show things like “Suspended: too many requests” or “access denied”. This is why it is good to enable several providers so that there is always a fallback to get results from. I won’t pretend SearXNG will be for everyone, however, if you enable all of the providers and put up with the slower response time, the results can be really amazing. Even if you don’t want to use it as your daily driver, keeping a bookmark handy that links to it is a good idea if you ever feel like doing a deep dive into a niche topic where other search engines are just failing to bring up any good result, due to the amount of sources it looks on. If you’re interested in radical user control over the software you use, installing SearXNG locally can also be a good idea, but be prepared to be temporarily blocked from sites if you trigger bot sensors without a VPN. Personally, I’ve opted to use a public instance, rather than install it myself. If you want to use it via a public instance, head over to searx.space to find a provider. Let us know in the comments if you have used SearXNG or its predecessor, Searx. What do you think about the quality of the results?
    • Dear Neowin, If it is not too much trouble, can you start using the new-ish designations for Insider Preview? "Experimental" is different than "former Dev" as it can apply to different models, eg 26H1 or 26H2 etc, right? No need to seed confusion IMHO. And, please "finally" update your graphics. OK?
    • Did you see their FAQ, its quite good. Have a look in the Advanced section. https://delta.chat/en/help
    • Just install Linux Mint that is a real blessing and many times cheaper because you can continue using your old Windows computer/laptop with the latest Linux updates.
    • Interesting share -- however it does not make sense: Email messages get stored somewhere, so how is Delta Chat "based on email" and decentralized without actually storing anything? By Web3 standard practices, the various Relays would require dedicated storage to make messages available to the recipients (like a large series of message queue channels, akin to racks of traditional post office boxes)... and Contacts must be two-way confirmed in order for encryption keys to be exchanged (ostensibly every key-pair is uniquely bound between sender and recipient) and the Relays would preserve the public keys in order to facilitate message carriage... or every device stores all sorts of keys and contact info. All of this to say, decentralized messaging is like running Bluesky nodes except instead of discovering/browsing public feeds by various posters (at the given node) these Delta Chats would be relaying encrypted messages (via Relays) that only trusted recipients would have the appropriate decryption key (their own private key) to read it. But this doesn't solve the "it's like email" sales pitch. The only way it's like email is that there's encrypted binary stuff being transported from your app into the federated ether of Delta Chat Relays for others to decrypt (hopefully only the intended recipient)... but outside of this federated relays framework, it is absolutely nothing like email.
