No idea, here's the petition: https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/rockstar-games-dont-make-a-pc-version-of-gta-v

It made the rounds on some websites a while back. Doesn't look like it gained much traction from anything other than trolls though :).

And their reasoning is hilarious.

"So PC Gamers learn their lesson and stop stealing games"

Console games are pirated just as much as pc games.

It's been getting harder and harder to pirate console games though.  On the PC it's as easy as it's ever been, heck steam makes it easier.

Not even slightly close.

nice. i'm sure i'll never get around to playing it, but glad to see it's coming out on PC.

I skipped GTA4 but I might give 5 a go, at least you know the scale of things and that you'll get a lot of gameplay out of it unless you get bored quick, heh.

It's also why I still play the Assassins Creed games, I know I'll get at least 40-50hrs worth from them and not some quick little 12hr thing.

Already finished it on 360 last year and haven't touched it since. The story was good up to the last hour or so. GTA IV was a lot better in that regard.

Still, I'll probably buy a complete edition one day on PC, when it's on sale for the DLC.

This means I will need to recall my rocktar ***holes club username though.

Horrible multi login 'social' clubs - it is bad enough to have Steam as a requirement for games.

That generalization. Yes all of us PC gamers never pay for games and pirate them, that's why my Steam collection has over 200 games and I have around 50 to 100 retail games sitting in a couple boxes here at home. So punish us all because of the actions of some. Thanks to digital distribution, Steam etc.. PC gaming is more popular than it would've been and selling on Steam alone not accounting for other platforms is bound to generate a decent chunk of sales.

this also implies piracy has a meaningful effect on sales. Which it has been shown to not.

Seeing as GFWL is finally on its way out, it'll probably use Steamworks this time around. I forgot about Social Club though. Wonder if they'll let you sign in using your Steam account like with other games.

hate to admit it but i have no faith that GTA V for PC will be any better optimized for PC than IV was.

That'd be fine by me.  I'd been playing GTA IV for months on my i7 (now rather ancient) before I was even made aware, by reading some message boards, that it was poorly optimized.  Even back then I hadn't been playing games in years, so I was playing it with some very average video card (can't remember which I was using at the time), and it was smooth as glass through and through.

Now that I think about it...GTA IV is the last game I bought/played since, well, GTA IV.  I'll definitely be getting V.

Dag nabbit :(

Well, yes and no, if referring to the ps3 version, you didn't HAVE to have it, or sign into it (if I recall)

I know I could both campaign and online without ever signing in (there is an option to do so) on the ps3 version, I used to sign in due to needing to manage my crew(guild/clan, call it whatever :) )

Was talking about the PC version, but informative nonetheless :)

GTA V was around 40 hours if you just did the story and most of the activities, i was at like 60 or 70 percent complete with almost 40 hours played.

Same here, not double dunking or dipping etc. for me, will wait until it's $10 on Steam in a couple of years buhahahaha. And agree GTA IV had a much better story to my tastes. Relatable characters, a more sombre tone...GTA V went away from that, but was still very good.

    • take your console only release and shove it. i sold my ps5 as my pc wipes the floor with it, at the point of sale i didn't envisage being ignored by one of the biggest and wealthiest developers ever because they simply can't be bothered to support a loyal user base. as i only played the single player versions, i'll be obtaining this "free" when it eventually reaches PC as an afterthought to pay for their christmas party drinks in 2029. screw me, screw you cockstar
    • Apart from Early Hiccups on Windows 11 on first install on October 6th 2021 on my old Intel 10700 daily use Desktop PC at the time, used to have issue with Bluetooth suddenly no longer working and only fix back then was always another clean install--then would work for a while. Transition to 2024 when i decided to finally upgrade that system for better support for Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 later on, opted for next daily use Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB. No major problems at all with this desktop, OS was clean installed way back on 10/8/2025 not long after 25H2 released. Overall i've been happy with Windows 11 Pro from the start, even minor little quirks didn't sway me. Heck i even use Windows 8 and upgraded immediately upon release back then on my old HP P6-2133W Desktop, and while the specs of that machine didn't give me top notch performance--i still was able to do what i wanted to, without too many slowdowns. Windows ME i didn't use on any of my personal systems back in the day, kept those systems on 98SE til XP released, and grabbed that immediately on release date. Kept XP til Vista Released then upgraded immediately, kept Vista til Windows 7 released, then updated immediately again
    • Broadcom: dreadful company who is destroying VMware by pricing it out of the market.
    • To be fair, it wasn't going anywhere. Even when Windows Phone could run Android APKs, Google didn't want any of it so it'd never work and the same thing happened with Windows. It was never about the store or it's users, it was always the developers and who they aligned to.
