Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders begin next week according to Best Buy leak

Take-Two may be planning to kick off Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders soon according to Best Buy emails being sent to affiliate partners.

Thanks to the delays Grand Theft Auto VI has gone through since its announcement in 2013, the highly anticipated open-world action game has not managed to hit the pre-order stage yet. However, with the latest release date now only six months away, it is looking like things are finally in motion on that front, as a retailer may have slipped up and let loose details about upcoming pre-order promotions.

Earlier today, multiple users posted claims about receiving an email from Best Buy about Grand Theft Auto VI. Titled as a New Product Boost Campaign, this was seemingly delivered to affiliate account holders from the retailer holding pre-order timing details for the upcoming Rockstar title.

The affiliate campaign is simply titled "GTA 6 Pre-order (Physical Game)," with it slated to begin on May 18. More people in the same affiliate teams have come forward in the past few hours saying they received the same email. One post on the largest Grand Theft Auto VI subreddit (user ADeadlyAlien) even has a video showing off the email in full. The source of the email looks to be a legitimate Best Buy source as well.

Take-Two and Rockstar are yet to announce any plans to begin pre-orders for what may possibly become the biggest game release ever. However, if the company is planning to do something like this, expect a sudden announcement accompanied by a trailer, much like how the companies have operated so far with Grand Theft Auto VI's prior announcements like the two trailers.

As always, take leaks like this with a grain of salt until something official materializes from the publisher or developer. Even if the emails are legitimate, this may have been an error made by Best Buy, accidentally sending placeholder data to users.

If the latest release date holds true, Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. As for PC, the Take-Two CEO recently said that consoles are its core audience when it comes to the franchise.
