After years of anticipation, the long-awaited PC version of GTA V could soon be cancelled, according to a Rockstar employee.

Brad Cockingham works as a Marketing director for Rockstar North and is also the founder of his own marketing firm called ?Rantic?, which was created following the historic launch of GTA V.

On Rantic?s official website, Brad expresses concern about the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V being cancelled.

On Thursday, we sat down with one of the marketing directors of Rantic, to talk about Rockstar North?s future for the Grand Theft Auto series.

During the interview, Rantic Chairman John Hoffberger, stated that the PC version of GTA 5 could soon be cancelled due to ?corporate problems?. ?The next-gen console launch dates are still intact, but the PC game launch has been agitating for Rockstar staff?, John said.

John also stated,?Rockstar never wanted to release a PC version of GTA V, but due to high public demand, they were forced to do so.?

Forced too?  Seriously?  And then they fail anyway?        What an excuse.

Rockstar : Remember your roots.

I don't understand why people think the "roots" matter. it's a video game, they'll release it where there is an audience to buy it, not because they have "roots" there.

Anyway I do not believe this rumour at all. I can't imagine they'll cancel it. Whether it's a good port or not is anybodys guess.

Seems like a publicity stunt to get people to visit that guys website.

After the video that was released a few months ago Rockstar stands to make a lot of money with a GTA:V release. There's no way they're not going to make it.

Who the hell is John Hoffberger?  Does he work at Rockstar?  I think the title is misleading.  According to posting, Hoffberger is the one who made the statement and he works for Rantic which was founded by someone who works for Rockstar (I question the validity of this, but I don't really care to look further).  Is Rantic owned by Rockstar?

Am I the only one thinking that if this game is supposed to be released "fall 2014" that it's a little late to cancel, i mean we are literally a few days away from the fall as it is! I would have imagined this thing was probably pretty much done and dusted now and is going through some form of QA.

A Rockstar employee posting something on their own website does not equal Rockstar announcing they aren't doing it.

We are too close to Fall for them not to have already announced a port to PC won't happen.  Additionally, they already spent millions on PC development, so I don't see them not releasing to PC.

    • Thanks, Sony and Nintendo, you effectively killed platform-agnostic gaming. Long gone are the days when you could wish to play a specific game on whatever platform you were. Now, you have to buy the hardware just to play that single game. What, you're only interested in THAT game and nothing more? Bad luck, suck it and buy our console.

    • "CRAZIER than ever!" Crazy Taxi: World Tour is officially coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sega announced it is working on bringing back some of its classic franchises in 2023, and while it has taken some time, the company finally gave fans a look at one of these new projects at the Xbox Games Showcase today, which turned out to be a brand-new Crazy Taxi entry. Watch the debut trailer above, which has snippets of gameplay in between the cinematic bits while blasting a track from The Offspring. Dubbed Crazy Taxi World Tour, this installment is aptly being described as being "CRAZIER than ever!" The director behind the original, Kenji Kanno, is helming this new entry as well, which will come with access to five new cities to drive in, competitive multiplayer modes, a vehicle customization system, and more. Axel is returning as a protagonist as well, but this time a mystery driver is offering him the opportunity to take his adventures to the streets in other countries. This will involve Axel chasing down masked villains that have somehow stolen his taxi, which means even more extreme missions and challenges to overcome. "From transporting passengers at top speed to tackling unique side missions and odd jobs across dynamic maps, there are countless ways to drive crazy and rake in big money," says Sega about this new installment after over 20 years. "Perform outrageous drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities as you work to deliver passengers and complete a variety of missions and challenges." The studio has even confirmed an in-game Arcade Mode that players will be able to access containing the original games for plenty of nostalgic action. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently slated to release sometime in 2027 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
    • This and Crazy Taxi are the two games that interested me the most from this showcase.
