Ever wondered why all the hard work th AP team puts in is worth the effort it only took 4 days to patch and install

75mb of drivers on a 100+ new laptops with 0% bandwidth useage!!!!!!!!

Last rollout took 14 days for same task.

The possibiltes ar staggering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Guys,

I need some help. I just installed Windows XP Pro with SP1a. After installing the OS I went to the Microsoft site to see how many

critical updates and recommended updates were needed. It stated there were 16 critical and 19 recommended updates. I then

ran AutoPatcher v4.2. After running AutoPatcher I rebooted and then went to the MS site again and had it scan my system for

needed updates. This time it told me I needed 15 critical and 15 recommended updates. Did I do something wrong with

AutoPatcher? I figured I should have 3-4 more updates to perform after running AutoPatcher? Is this correct or what do I need

to do?

Thanks,

Wiz

No problem... when you downloaded the file, you must have missed the link to this: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=135553 It's a fix for that issue. But actually you don't need it now... just run the AP again and it'll work. The issue was it wouldn't fully update the first go-around... the fix, well, fixed that. But if you didn't apply it, running the AP again will do the trick. (Y)

Thanks again for AutoPatcher Flish, Raptor, and everyone who contributed... :D

Just an FYI...IE-SPYAD was updated on Feb 10 '04.

Thanks! :D Will be sure to update it! (Y)

Hey FlishFun,

First off, thanks again for such a handy program. I know I don?t have near the amount of responsibilities of some of the people in this forum, but I do get called upon to help out family and friends quite a bit, so this program has been an absolute gift !

Second, please don?t hurt me if I missed this info ( I did look in the FAQ, which told me to ?please consult the original thread to see the status.?), but did you have a target release date for the Feb update ? I am sort of waiting on doing a system build for a friend until I can get the new release. Thanks for the help !

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
