I just got a new XPS 13 - the model with the touch screen - and it's begging for Windows 10 on it.

Has anyone installed 9926 on a 2015 XPS 13, and if so, how did it run? Should I do it? I've installed Win10 on a Dell Vostro 3450, and it was buggy - I lost my start menu completely. Do I take the chance again? Wait for a new build? After using Windows 10 with windowed metro apps, it's friggin hard to go back :(

It runs fine, but there's some high CPU usage and it'll drain your battery quick. If you don't like the new build you can easily rollback to Windows 8 by selecting "Windows Rollback" when your computer boots.

I just reformatted back to windows 8.1 update 1 with the latest iso from msdn dated late Dec 2014.  Battery life and a few other bugs really made me switch back.  I thought builds would be coming out faster.  My tablet would get so hot with 9926 and I would get 3 hours of battery life.  :-(

I just put the Windows 10 beta on my XPS, and it's fantastic. W10 is way better than 8.1 for my laptop, with the exception of the graphics drivers. They're still non-existent

Have you installed it on the dell xps 13 2015? I tried to do that and the graphic seams to work extremly slow. Whole system seams to work very sowly.

How is it on yours?

Yeah, I meant the 2015 XPS 13. There's some resolution issues where the menu padding is wonky or images are displayed at "normal" - not 200% - scale, and like I said the GPU drivers don't seem to exist in any usable form. Otherwise it's a good OS on the system, it remained fast and responsive. I'll put it through its paces tonight, and try out things like hyper-V and the battery life, but from what I've seen it's at least as usable as 8.1 was on it.

I just checked for updates, and all I saw was one for defender. My CPU usage is still high and my GPU drivers are still terribad.

My battery life is down to around 3 hours, but considering that my old laptop's battery life was around 3 hours, I don't even notice

But I like Windows 10 too much to go back. Hopefully the updates arrive soon.

I tried both - the ones from Windows made the screen brightness 100% while the Dell ones seem to have dimmed the screen a good amount, but otherwise they both seem to be just as useless.

Which graphics cards do you have? .. normally brightness is easily solvable if it is an Intel.

Have you actually successfully installed anything? I tried both and it still says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter in Device Manager

I haven't gotten anything to install successfully. I'm stuck using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I can't change the resolution either.

This latest update from MS today seems to have slowed things down even more. I assume proper 3d acceleration would fix everything, but that requires GPU drivers... Intel...

I feel like a parrot right about now. Which iGPU do you have?

Can you get the drivers in a .zip folder? Where there are all the DLLs?

If the answer is yes, you can try the following:

0) Extract all your contents into a known place, like the Desktop.

1) Open Device Manager

2) In Display Adapters, where it says "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter", right click on it and select "Update Driver Software"

3) Click Browse my computer for driver software

4) Click "Browse" and go for the folder where you put it in step 0.

5) Click "Next" and see if that helps you.

Loads of issues with 9926 and users with GPU's that won't recognise drivers. Have got the same issue on a Dell AIO 24" with the standard attempts of uninstalling \ reinstalling drivers etc.

Previous release had none of these issues. Fine for what it's used for which is in the kitchen on an arm for music \ shopping \ interwebs.

I too have the 5500 GPU.

Jose_49, I've tried that. I get an error saying that there's no compatible GPU drivers or something along those lines. I'm just hoping that the next build will fix the issues, or that Intel gets their GPU drivers updates soon.

So I checked the driver it simply doesn't have 6.4 unlocked.

Open the inf and insert this under:

and install the driver.

    • Fire and rehire. Doubt the work contracts are as favourable. Smart tactic using AI to do it legally.
    • > And, of course, it includes in-game purchases. Sigh.. of course it does. I just don't understand why anyone would want to play this on PC, when the far superior AoE 2/DE exists. Just kill this with fire already. Or a trebuchet.
    • Normally you'd just want to use Ventoy, but Rufus is handy when: - Ventoy doesn't work (some BIOSes can be weird) - You're mainly interested in creating a single Windows live USB and not interested in a multi-boot / Linux USBs - You want to automate your Windows installations (Rufus supports creating/injecting an autounattend.xml file which fully automates a Windows install). You can do this with Ventoy as well, but it requires a bit more of an effort. Also worth nothing is that both automatically bypass Windows 11's artificially imposed restrictions (TPM, CPU etc).
