Two teenage girls have been charged in connection with a violent confrontation with a police officer in Brampton, Ont., which was caught on video and has received hundreds of thousands of views online.

Const. Fiona Thivierge of Peel Regional Police said the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. ET Tuesday as officers were investigating two female suspects for allegedly trespassing at St. Marguerite D'Youville school on Dixie Road.

Thivierge said a struggle broke out as one of the suspects was being arrested, and that the officer received minor injuries.

Neither suspect attends the school.

The video posted on YouTube shows what appears to be a female police officer getting hit repeatedly by one girl, and then getting subdued by the other teen when the first girl tries to run away.

CBC News has confirmed the legitimacy of the video with Peel Sgt. Matt Small, who said the officer is "fine," and will have "no lasting injuries."

The ages of the teens and charges against them are:

  • 15-year-old: trespassing, obstructing a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer and assisting in escape from lawful custody.
  • 16-year-old: trespassing, assaulting a peace officer and escaping lawful custody.

The teens are expected to appear in court on March 17.

Paul Black, president of the Peel Regional Police Association, said he had spoken with the officer, who is a six-year member of the force.

"She tells me she's doing fine. She's a humble officer who doesn't want this attention and she's back on duty today," he told reporters on Wednesday afternoon.

The officer, whose name has not been released, used pepper spray in an attempt to gain control of the situation.

"In the moment, she did what she had to do, there was nobody injured as a result of this, and the two parties are under arrest," Black said.

Asked why the officer didn't draw a gun or use a Taser, he said, "she deployed what she had on her at the time."

The video drew hundreds of thousands of views online and prompted some commenters to praise the officer for her restraint, while others questioned her training and response to the attack.

"The female police officer should be fired for being weak.

Given the evidence at hand, both girls should be executed immediately.

The policewoman needs to go back to training to figure out crowd control of 2 girls or find another profession.

The perp would've been more cooperative had the officer simply emptied her service pistol into her knee caps. I suspect the second girl would've also become more docile and may have even helped the officer.

Hmmm.... Perhaps I am being a little harsh. Maybe just a bean bag round to the box using less lethal would've sufficed :)

Given the evidence at hand, both girls should be executed immediately.

And you need to go back to high school apparently because you don't know the meaning of crowd control....like what crowd was she trying to control?

We tamed about this sort of thing this evening in anger management class. The police are more of a gang than actual gangsters these days, it seems. Pretty sad.

Sorry, talked. Stupid android and spell check. My apologies.

The two people in need of immediate execution and the one in need of confinement. But really, to be overpowered by two teenage girls? Police need to use lethal force, none of this weak and soft "justice"

Care to elaborate ?  :D

after living in a rougher area of north of england i have seen teenage girls more vicious and aggressive then grown men.

and police officer acted pretty reasonable :)

Not sure if this is sarcasm.

I'll assume yes to keep some faith in humanity.

of course it is  -   it is Enron

My how times have changed... When I was a teen, the idea of fighting with cops was considered idiotic and a non-thought. I am anti-authoritarian as they come but it seems sometimes we have a whole generation of kids who don't think they have to listen to anyone.

This video should be used for training of US cops. The female police officer realized there was no real threat to herself and that she had backup so no one was shot.

I'm sure this was somehow a violation of the girls rights and they had every right to attack the officer..... right?....... right?..... common someone?..... we can't make some big issue out of this like all the others?...... psshhh...

Huh?

Huh?

... look at all the recent news stories and news obsession with teens begin attacked (their words not the police) and/orkilled by police... which they always seem to claim "my baby was an angel and would never do that"

How old are you? 80?

I'm close to 40 and when i was young there used to be big protests with people fighting cops.

I think it's actually the opposite. These days people are actually willng to accept anything in the name of security. People don't protest anymore and consider police officers and gov can do whatever they want whenever they want. Some of the comments i read online in the last 5 years in favor of an authoritarian state are totally mind boggling.

Not saying those girls were right of course cause they were not. But the police officer did the right thing by not firing first and asking question after the girls were dead like we see way too much in NA these days.

You mean the endless stories of cops shooting and killing (sometimes unjustified) suspects (sometimes just traffic stops) that almost always seem to be black, that are many times also teens? Your generalized blanket statement was referring to that?

No one is defending the actions of the teens here... I pointed out in my previous comment this would be a good video for training of US cops. The female office accessed the situation, realized there was no threat to herself, and she had backup so no deadly force was used.

I would be willing to bet they are willing to do the same thing to their parents that they did to the officer.

Yeh but that's probably their fault for not instilling some discipline into them.

I am 45 which means I was a teenager in the early to mid 1980's (in the US). What events are you talking about where teens were fighting cops? There was a lot of protests in the 1960's and into the 1970's... Which involved college kids and not really high school aged teens and I was barely born yet. You are either confused or have false memories.

I agree ADULTS today don't question anything anymore...

Personally I wholeheartedly agree.  Civil disobedience like this should be given ZERO tolerance.  No one on the planet will miss these kids and their lack of respect for authority.  Making the world a brighter place for the rest of us is the best, and only, option.

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
