Eric Veteran Posted March 8, 2015 Veteran Share Posted March 8, 2015 What does Peer Block actually block? MPAA and RIAA IP addresses and other known anti-piracy groups? Seems like it would be easy for them to get around those blocks. It is. Anti-P2P companies just monitor torrents from consumer ISPs now. Romero
Why not Bittorrent ? It does the same ? If you're referring to the official BitTorrent client, it's just a rebranded version of uTorrent. Been that way for a long time now. I went Deluge because it satisfies my obsessive compulsive nature by having a clean looking interface and an adequate amount of features. Looks nice but why does the setup have to be 13MB in size (I assume after installation it's even larger)? The uTorrent executable I use is a mere 320KB! Is the bloat entirely due to GTK+ or some other reason I wonder? Don't even think a proper portable version is available. And Tixati portable weighs in at 51.4MB. Why? +Random Stranger 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1249096-utorrent-client-is-stealing-your-cpu-cycles-to-mine-bitcoins/page/5/#findComment-596777668 Share on other sites

Why? good point my install folder for deluge is 43.7 MB ! did not notice it, since my pc and internet is fast. but yeah, not quite the 0.5Mb i am used to with utorrent. Romero
I assume all official rebranded versions of uTorrent would have the same nasty behavior [ stealing the CPU's cycles for Bitcoins ] ... Since uTorrent itself wasn't Bitcoin mining, the same (or a similar) mining program would need to be bundled with BitTorrent/Mainline for this to happen. So far I see no reports of this but I wouldn't rule it out considering it's the same company behind both clients. MorganX
Short & clear , as usual . I suppose I did the right choice when I picked up qBittorrent ... This was a godsend, I've gotten far more and more reliable connections and throughput with qBittorrent, the difference has been dramatic. citan
I just use the old 2.1 something version when I need it. Great example how a really good clean app can turn into a complete TURD. MikeM97
Even those days , uTorrent keep loosing a lot of '' ground '' in torrent's clients battle ... I'm happy with my qBittorrent .
