DX 12 combined video cards Nvidia and AMD on same board? supported?

Recommended Posts

Under windows 10 and DX 12, has anyone tried installing both an Nvidia and an AMD video card to see if they work together?

I have an ASUS Crosshair V Formula -z board with 3 pci-e slots

1x ASUS Nvidia GTX 970 Strix 4GB

1x MSI Radeon R9 280 OC 3GB

I want to install both but cant find any further info, only that it works with integrated video chipsets and  dedicated video cards installed in a slot.

is there anyone who has more info  on this setup?

Thanks

I would think not, integrated and dedicated have worked for ages, but multiple dedicated are never a good plan unless your using them properly i.e. same exact cards in SLI or x-fire.

But tbh, if you have the cards and the mobo, try it, who knows, but I wouldn't think it'll work well if at all.

I believe DX12 will be able to do is use two different nvidia or AMD but you can only use the lower VRAM storage when playing games.

i think you need a dx12 games to do that, everything about that is still working in progress at the moment.

integrated and dedicated have worked for ages, but only as switchable, but this times it is different.
