Has it gotten stable enough to run it on a production machine?

9926 isnt for many people - driver issues from the getgo

1 reason why everyone is eagerly waiting for this new build. Myself included.

My Win10 VM hasnt even booted since the 9926 release because it screwed up my resolutions

When you say "production" I hope you dont mean in a business/work environment -

If you mean as a primary OS ?  I wouldnt recommend it.

Yep, primary OS on a system that I'm doing my master thesis (Visual Studio + Office) and gaming every day.

Elenarie - Im sure you have multiple backups of something so important - so if you, for some odd reason, feel you need to have a new GUI to do your work - then by all means go for it - Since you have gone all the way through college and doing post-grad work - I will assume you know to weigh the risks against the benefits and have a backup plan if something gets hosed.  They (MS) made build 9926 and it messed things up graphically for a lot of people - since it was on a VM - I just went back to a previous snapshot - no harm no foul - but if it were my primary OS - I would have been more upset (time to fix everything is time not spent on more important things)

I think 9926 was actually stable enough for my main build, until the NVIDIA DX12 drivers came down the pipe and bombed it.  I'm in 8.1 until I'm sure my new hardware is stable.

One of the things it screwed up was the resolution of my VM - a small thing, but nonethless, I want to be able to view a VM's screen @ the full 2650x1440 & 9926 had me @ 1920x1200.

Elenarie - Just dont use Office 2016 - stick to what has been officially released.

I was dual booting, not using a VM.

Sadly, that drive is not in my system due to recent troubleshooting, but it should return soon.  Or if a new build comes out soon enough I'd install it on one of my SSDs.

Okay, thanks. I'll stay away from it for now and just do the master thesis on 8.1. (It is about cross-device dev)

On another note - I just downloaded the script that installs Office 2016 (v16.0.3629.1008) - I will see what its like - If I have to link it to my Office365 account, which is through work, then I'll stop everything because I wont take any chance of messing up something at this new job I love so much.

I dont think we will see a new build until Friday at the earliest. I think it would be more fun to guess a build number for us to play with.
And im going to say 10028 for that.

I'm saying at build 10029 or higher. 10028 is impossible as the new build comes from the fbl_impressive branch, and it doens't have a 10028.

And yes, there is a logic to these build numbers. Every workday, they go up by one (on avarage).

Expanding on https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1230329-will-windows-9-reintroduce-the-classic-theme/page-2#entry596586645 -- does Windows 10 offer the classic theme, or some sort of super minimal look?

Many thanks!

No classic theme, no "minimal" look, just Windows 10.

... I do not want to use the mouse or trackpad each time and have bing display results of control panel first. I want control panel listed first etc.

Which is it?

Press "1" for control panel listed first

Press "2" for control panel listed first

So i came across a bit of an annoying issue... explorer.exe no longer opens up.. so i cannot browse my files anymore!

Trying to open file explorer, the process fires up, and i can see it in task manager, doesnt report any issue, or say its not responding.. just wont open up. Hope the new build comes soon and fixes it!

It's a Bing search on steroids.

Spartan looks like a good browser. I'm anxious to try it out.

Spartan looks amazing. Coupled with extensions from Chrome, and it will be great. Can definitely see myself using this.

That Cortana integration will save me so much time, no more opening a new tab to search for something I've seen on a page, that Cortana fly out window is great.

A major compiler is used for both x86/x64 and WoA64 architectures. This also means that all core libraries are re-compiled accordingly which required some changes in the build scripts. One of the core libraries (cURL) has been updated to address vulnerabilities and a nasty linker error that was causing the need for a dedicated patch which could now be eliminated.
