How did you get it for $2?

There was a bug in the store which offered it for $2 but come to find out I think anybody that installed the insider build and activated remained activated on that machine after leaving the insider program and even after installation. Not sure if that was still the case at least it was up until nside build 10166

Avast here, although i think i had problems with Avast and the previous build.

Avast here also. I had problems with it pre - RTM and with the build before the one released to the slow ring with upgrading, but since then all has been good and they work fine.

A new Mail and Calendar app update appeared, taking the version to 17.6310.42251.0. I haven't been digging through Settings for a few versions, so I don't know whether these are recent changes or not.

Things that I don't remember seeing before (in Mail): new option for verbose logs under Help, control over automatic downloading of external images/content in e-mails. It also fixed a persistent issue that I've had with being able to send mail through a university SMTP server, but only after deleting the account and re-creating it in this version.

Hows the new Mobile build? Does the OS still die after a few days of use?

lol no... it's pretty stable. Anyways, Gabe says they are launching a new build today.

The Mail and Calendar app was updated to version 17.6319.42021.0 today. It looks like, at least in some cases, app updates are released fairly after changes are made.

Visible changes include a preview thumbnail in Settings > Personalization. This depicts what the window will look like, as various appearance settings are changed. This is a strange feature, since the appearance of the window updates as well, negating (as far as I know) the need for a separate preview.

A new button in the upper right corner of mail messages allows the message to be popped out in a separate window.

In current versions of Mail, the toggle for automatically adding a signature, as well as check boxes for show notification/play a sound (probably other settings as well) don't stick if you set them and then switch away from options. They do appear to stick if you set them, then go to the account selection menu at the top of that options name, and switch to a different account, then switch back. These settings may not work since notifications don't seem to be generated consistently for every new message.

I think the preview thumbnail in personalization is there because this is a universal app itself and the same version coming to mobile, on mobile you can't see the rest of the window when you're in settings like you can on desktop, so the thumbnail preview is handy when you make changes.

All day yesterday and today, I've been seeing issues with OneDrive.  The cloud icon in my tray just constantly says "signing in" and shows the syncing icon overlay.  A reboot helped briefly, but then it happened again.  Build 10565.  Anyone else getting this?

I don't think this is related to the Insider preview program. Looks like someone unplugged the Onedrive server.

Is anyone else finding 10565 to be very lagging and resource heavy? I've had to reboot several times now after my system becomes incredibly sluggish after just a few hours of use. Granted, this has been the case with some previous Insider builds, and usually the following one works fine, but this has easily been the least stable build for me since the pre-RTM.

By my experience, it's been the least stable of the post-RTM builds, but the instability and lagginess isn't consistent between my work and home computers.

Yep, agreed it's quite slug-tastic.  And all kinds of little bugs.  Looking forward to the next release to the Slow Ring.

My Xbox One For Windows wired controller is not working since the leaked build 10568 and including the new 10576 build (Detected in device manager that keep refreshing every second as long as it is connected, but doesn't light up). It works as it should on 10565 and before.

Tried different USB ports, hub, no hub, nothing.

Anyone with the same problem? I have already reported it in the insider hub.

    • Microsoft released new Defender update for Windows 11, 10, Server ISO installations by Sayan Sen Microsoft releases new Windows Defender update packages very frequently to protect against various newly discovered malware. Once a while every three months or so, the company also pushes out these updates to Windows images (WIM and VHD) and ISOs, that are used to install Windows. Hence with the newest Windows 11 update available via the official MCT tool, you should get these definitions. This update package is necessary as a Windows installation image may contain old, outdated anti-malware definitions and software binaries. Aside from better security, these updates can also provide improved performance benefits in some cases. When a new Windows installation is set up, there may be a temporary security risk due to outdated Microsoft Defender protection in the OS installation images. This happens because the antimalware software included in these images might not be up to date. Thus Microsoft says that these updated definitions essentially help close this protection gap. Microsoft delivered the latest security definitions for Windows images via security intelligence update version 1.445.323.0. The Defender package version is also the same. It applies to Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021, Win 10 Ent LTSC 2019, Win 10 Ent LTSB 2016, Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016. Microsoft writes: "This package updates the anti-malware client, anti-malware engine, and signature versions in the OS installation images to following versions: Platform version: 4.18.26040.7 Engine version: 1.1.26040.8 Security intelligence version: 1.447.236.0" From Microsoft's security bulletin, we learn that the security intelligence update version 1.447.236.0 was released early last month and adds threat detections for various malware like trojan, backdoor exploits, ransomware, stealers, AutoKMS, and more. For those wondering, the latest intelligence update is version 1.451.297.0 at the time of writing.
