Louisiana won't Recognize Same-Sex Marriages

Recommended Posts

I think we are looking at the start of what could be the next civil war, if the rednecks get angry enough to rise up again over states' rights to deny an entire group of people equal protection under the law. I figured gun control would do it though, not marriage equality. Even then, I really don't see it happening. Not since Hostess brought Twinkies back to the Walmart.

Judges serve at the pleasure of, and are paid by the people. If the judges won't serve, I suggest they return their pay. Put their money where their hearts are. I don't think they will. Either because their hearts are truly corrupt, or because, like with so many other things, the money is more important.

Speaking of the money, you know, this whole marriage equality thing wasn't really a big deal not too long ago. Gays were fine with their civil unions and domestic partnerships. You know what got them all riled up and what led to 2 days ago? Some insurance company got greedy and refused to pay benefits to a gay partner because their marriage was not legally recognized. An insurance scam. That's what really got this ball rolling. Now that that loophole is closed

How quickly things change. One day we were listening to how bad it was that Obamacare was upheld by the court. That was quickly forgotten because of the Marriage ruling.

They will still be talking about the Marriage ruling in 60 years but I predict in 6 months the focus will have changed once again to the next Presidential election. All of this will be shut up because the debate of the next presidential election will take priority both for the Democrats as well as Republicans. There are so many that are running on the Republican side that it has to be filtered through by the right.

I think part of the bitterness of the right is because of the timing of the rulings. They had just captured both houses of Congress with the Tea Party "leading the way". Their supporters thought that it was "their time" and then out of the blue, these devastating Supreme Court rulings. It's a bitter pill to swallow for them.

Even though Corporate America would disagree with this, I think China is worrisome. They used to say "What's good for GM is what's good for America."

This same philosophy is still widely believed today but I think the actions of corporations demonstrate time and time again, that they will take advantage of the benefits of "headquartering" in America but in the end, they are after the markets wherever they may be. American citizens should always keep this in mind.

Someone needs to invent a Southern Superhero, fighting for INjustice then cries and whines when he doesn't get his way, you know, all the things that make up the South.

LOL these conservatives are such babies.  Im honestly entertained at these temper tantrums, and i bet its helping some conservatives who actually have brains to see the light and change their views.

Its more than that, The moment these marriage licences are issued they have to show their true colours. No more talk about the definition of marriage the only way back is to tear up the marriage licences of happily marriage couples> That's a fight you don't come out of smelling nice.

I'm impressed at the level of back patting going on in this thread, as well as the sheer intolerance of certain groups of people. Just goes to show even a good cause can have its fair share of bigotry when everyone here resorts to calling people who disagree with them names and inferring they are somehow superior to them.

Complete disrespect for differing opinions, but hey I suppose that's the internet for you.

Imagine if the supreme court ruled in the opposite direction and banned same sex marriage. I'm sure statements like "This day was our 9/11" would be uttered by the LGBT community just as easily and not so heavily criticized. It's funny the double standards people have.

It's only really a vocal minority  that is better off being ignored as their time is limited and easily marginalized

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
