The Ashley Madison hacked ruined people's lives.

Here, let me help you.

If you are successful, highly educated, and don't want to put your career or the career and life of others in jeopardy, don't do something stupid like create an online account that can point back to your activity. Don't write it on your calendar. If you do, you run the risk of being caught and putting it all at risk. The woman obviously used personal details to track back to herself. That doesn't sound very intelligent to me.  Does it to you?  Who in their right mind believes that is an intelligent move?

That isn't anecdotal, that is a case of lack of common sense.  It cannot be taught, hence my comment.

You need to stop making these over general statements.

If I point out even one highly educated person who is also very intelligent, then I can easy disprove that statement.

A few =/= all

I said education and intelligence are mutually exclusive.

This is a fact and it doesn't have to apply to anyone because it is not a label, so I more than welcome for you to disprove it.

You can be highly educated and intelligent.

You can be highly intelligent and not educated.

You can be highly educated and lack intelligence.

You can lack both.

I shouldn't have had to break this down for you.

The images in my post loaded for me and then I edited and deleted them.  They are from an entirely different thread that Neowin's forum software decided needed to be here (windows 10 related).

I am not giving advice on how to cheat, so cut it out with the assumptions.

You literally used the words "advice" and "affairs" in the same sentence. These are your words, not mine.

Here is pro advice for those who want to have affairs:

Don't give information to a web site that can lead back to you.

If that's not advice on how to be a better cheater, then what is it? We all know that cheaters don't want to get caught.

Ok, now go back to what you said.

You said I was giving advice on how to cheat. No, I was giving advice on how to keep your life private if you are going to cheat. Will you honestly say that the "tip" I gave was not valid for...well anyone who doesn't want their dirty laundry left to air out on the Internet?

I neither condone cheating, nor give advice on how to cheat.

Don't you think it would've been better to say "If they were smart, they wouldn't have divulged information that could lead back to them"? You phrased it as pro advice so it seemed like you were actually giving advice on how to be a better cheater.

To answer your question, no I wouldn't say that. But I'm not focused on that because we're discussing this within the context of cheating.

Are we really going to hinge entire pages of discussion on semantics?

You need to look up the definition of "mutually exclusive".

I'll put it here for you: "related in such a way that each thing makes the other thing impossible : not able to be true at the same time or to exist together"

Now, now.. we don't want to hinge entire pages of discussion on semantics. ;)

On a more serious note, I really hope this encourages other dating sites to secure their data. Any breach of private data is a bad thing no matter who faces the consequences.

Oh lord...you knew what I meant.

How is this...they are clearly not related to each other.

Good grief.

"I’m in the data dump. You are talking about me now. Fact: i am a long term member of AM with a spouse with a medical condition that has severely affected our intimate life. Fact: I engaged only with other members in similar situations (open marriage/medical condition) fact: before engaging in an encounter was tested for ALL stds. Fact: requsted and recieved verrified std results from other party. Fact: was retested after encounter and retested 6 months later (which is the standard). My SO knows about my AM membership. We still would never dream of spending one night without the other. I want to grow old with my SO. But because of this hack and the attitudes of people who are so locked into your very narrow line of thinking and lacking of so little empathy I will most likely end up loosing possibly friendships at work and in my personal life and most likely will have to find another job. All because I have been deemed as the scourge of all the is good and decent in the world according to decent god loving people such as yourself.

Good luck crafting that perfect utopia of yours. Watch out when suddenly it turns on you though because you are confronted with one of life’s unfortunate and often unfair speed bumps that puts in to conflict with the heard."

So you found an outlier in the debacle, feel cool? There are better outlets for those extremely rare situations than AM, but we are fools right?

Ah no.

For someone like me who has written numerous lab reports, the term "mutually exclusive" has a very specific meaning.

Mutually exclusive = either one or other, but not both.

I'm not judging anyone past their apparent lack of sense when associating themselves with a site such as this. If it doesn't matter that people know, then more power to them.  It is none of my business.  If you find yourself panicking and contacting multiple married men over the leak....yeah I see a problem, primarily that someone wasn't very smart about making sure things stayed discreet.

Never trust a company to protect your secret life.

Ah no.

It's an attitude like yours that really gets under my skin. My goodness. I find it troubling that you were quick to dismiss it. And on top of that, ask a question that's borderline insulting. I'll say it myself. Anyone that thinks everyone with an Ashley Madison account is a cheater should re-evaluate their way of thinking. It's flawed, dismissive and unfair to the innocent people involved. Don't dismiss it just because the vast majority of members used it to cheat.

There are better legit places for that one specific case, a cheating site is definitely not it, he'd been better off using the Craigslist hookup section

...and here is the problem.  Private lives being thrust out into the public eye.  No one has any right to judge what these people did aside from their family and other parties directly involved.

She was "finalizing" a divorce...and you know that can take a while.  Is it cheating if you and your spouse decide that it is over with no chance of reconciling?  Nope...not in opinion.  But yea...your private life warrants possibly getting fired from your job.  /sarcasm

Anyway, this will become an "all you can eat" buffet for the news outlet.  Shame really.

To be fair, she was knowing helping other men cheat. It wasn't just her own relationship she was dealing with but many others.

It's bad what has happned, I would never judge people as people have many issues and are not happy in their lives, Such as illness and so on and if they want to be happy than I don't see any issues in that. I just think who ever exposed these people have nothing better to do than see other people unhappy.

The entire purpose of the site is to help people cheat on their partners. There are no innocent victims except those who were cheated on.

Morality is entirely relative and people are free to do with their lives whatever they please. If people want a discreet relationship then that's entirely their prerogative - people are free to judge them, as is only fair, but that doesn't mean they don't have a right to privacy. The hackers had absolutely no right to publish such information.

The people whose information was exposed are victims, regardless of what you think of them personally. Whether they are innocent or not depends on one's perspective and the specifics of the individual case.

Nope... feckin cheaters need exposed... they ruined thier own lives

Have you ever had sex out of wedlock?  Ever driven over the speed limit or taken an illegal substance? Ever spat in public or littered? Ever downloaded music or movies illegally? If so then many would consider that immoral. Does that mean people should be able to illegally post your personal details online for everyone to see?

To say you have no sympathy is one thing; to say that such people need to be exposed is another entirely. Your position is utterly hypocritical.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
