  • 3 weeks later...

its been a long time since i posted anything on Neowin...

Its been a very trying time in last 4 months...

aside from working 60+ hours/week and college finals,

ive been pre-occupied w/ projects from my IT department

and a recent murder of a good friend of mine.

things have smoothed over since school is over and now that

i dont have to do any more overtime at work until the end

of june, i can commit myself to finishing the last touches

on my slipxp project.

the mini-projects from work included development of

my own custom slipxp for Echostar, the company i work for

the greatest part about that is i learned lots about automated installations

for win2k/xp. the final version of my batch files are now concidered

corporate grade!! that means when its done, i will be testing it at

my office on about 150 PC's, if all goes well then the batch version

will be uploaded here for FREE download.

[Requests]

i want to make 2 versions of Slip, a batch version and a executable version

in .exe format. i want it programmed in VB or a custom .NET environment.

i need a few coders very familar with the above and will to spend some nights

working w/ me and others as a dev team.

the batch version will be for the code monkeys that like to make their own customizations.

also it will be completely open source.

the exe version will be for the average user and dev to quickly make full use for personal

and business usage.

I am also asking for hosting for the files for beta testing and the final product.

since my contacts as far as people w/ free hosting is limited im asking someone

to offer some bandwidth and a small amount of space to distribute the product.

anyone interested please PM me.... we can discuss specifics

I plan on making a website too w/ tutorials and general information.

on that note i will need a web designer that is willing to offer services to produce

a kick ass site. there are no specific language specifics, nothing fancy.

i want to thank the neowin community for being very patient w/ me. i owe

this community a lot. its time to give back.

i feel that this project will fly once all is finished. there would be thousands of

users who have been looking for something like this to use. i need a few dedicated

individuals who are willing to help out.

I can donate the bandwidth should be a small download so shouldn't be a problem... Depending on the website may be able to donate some webspace as well... Of course there will have to be some recognition of the college for either on the pages.

silentknight, thanks for the hookup!!

i definately need a good website built and a little bandwidth. once i get my new RAM in, i'll be able to have a small mirror setup for downloads.

i will of course give any and all recognition for any help that i get.

btw what college?? im at virginia tech/radford universities...

i plan on getting on msn/aim this saturday to start a dev work group to either get it finished or atleast figure out what to do about all the

things i want done.

more to come...

wait wait wait.... maybe we are calling the wrong name! i just saw on a thread that /| wing |\ (i think) IS shifty.... where are you wing?!!?! :-p
whois wing???

perhaps he is the one at the foot of my bed everynight asking if my feet are cold...

nah...

tht wing would me :shifty: and i aint shifty

well, its been tough getting time to finish v2.0 of slipXP...

just when i thought the overtime @ work was over, its back again.

Dishnetwork (corp i work for) just hit 10 million customers and now

we are rolling out w/ new promotions and deals, thus driving up customer

call volume.

anywho. i did get a chance to install apache/php and started a

small website for SlipXP. check the sig!! <not spam> but

i need some help getting up and running.

Umm...am I just blind, or what? I don't see the slipxp batch file in the thread or in your sig. Any chance you can point me to it?

NM....i see the link to the page, but it's not functional. Again, anyone have the file? Especially 2.0 would be nice.

sorry about the site being down...

the WiFi router that im leaching off of decieded to stop getting an internet connection.

knowing the people that own the router, they forgot to pay their cable bill!!

i reupdated the sig to reflect the new WiFi router that im leaching off of now...

the site is crap and has nothing for SlipXP (soon to be renamed and logo-ed)

I am off to get my new car tomorrow and will be out all day. starting monday

the site will be updated and a daily changelog will be implimented.

thanks for the patience!!

I was reading on unattended install options, and saw something about updated mass storage drivers... This folder in the oem portion could be used for those with sata drives couldn't it?

This was for 2000, but it should still apply for xp right?

    • Unofficial script lets you install unreleased Windows 11 features without Microsoft Account by Sayan Sen Microsoft has been steadily evolving the Windows Insider Program over the years, introducing new channels and testing paths that allow enthusiasts to experience upcoming and yet-to-be-released Windows features (some interesting hidden ones too) before they reach the public. However, one long-standing requirement has remained largely unchanged as users are generally expected to enroll in the Program and with a Microsoft account. That's where a third-party tool called "OfflineInsiderEnroll" can help. OfflineInsiderEnroll is said to be a lightweight script that enables access to Windows Insider Program builds on systems that are not signed in with a Microsoft account. Essentially the tool configures the necessary Insider settings locally and hence allows users to select and switch between available preview channels while continuing to receive builds through the normal Windows Update channel. If you are wondering how it manages to do so, it is made possible by a Registry value known as TestFlags. When configured to"0x20", Windows stops communicating with Microsoft's online Insider enrollment services thus preventing locally configured Insider settings from being overwritten. This allows the script to apply its own channel configuration directly through the Registry as Windows Update does not verify whether a device has been officially enrolled in the Insider Program or not. Previously the utility has had already supported the traditional Insider branches including Dev, Beta, and Release Preview. However following Microsoft’s recent restructuring of its preview channels, the script has now been updated. The latest OfflineInsiderEnroll version, 2.6.6, adds support for the newly introduced Insider channel lineup. As such, users can now choose from several Experimental channels in addition to Beta and Release Preview options. The update also retains tools for refreshing the Insider cache, resetting Insider settings, and completely stopping Insider enrollment when needed. Keep in mind though that will need elevated privileges when running the script (run as Admin). You can get the latest version of OfflineInsiderEnroll from this page on its official GitHub repo.
    • The "Classic" Outlook has done that for a few years as well. The option to even change that is really hidden away too... It really shouldn't be hard to respect user defaults. Sadly we are the product now, not Outlook. To change in the Classic Outlook: File > Options > Advanced > change "Open hyperlinks from Outlook in"

    • Vivaldi 8.0.4033.44 is out.
    • For the purpose that it was built for, it’s a great machine. It’s okay to own multiple machines, it’s okay for machines to be different. If every computer was the same, they’d be boring af.
